The historic mansion now functions as a bed & breakfast with six bedrooms, each with a private bath. When entering the mansion, you are greeted by the impressive two story center hall and gallery along with the common areas on the main floor which are tastefully appointed with period antiques and include a large formal living room, a study, a solarium, a large formal dining room and billiard room.

We've visited Forest Oaks now five times in just under three years. We will return, and incredibly, each time we visit, we undoubtedly will share breakfast with other multitime visitors. You should expect to be ready to plan your next visit before you leave. This is not just a fantastically restored historic mansion with comfortable accommodations and incredible cuisine (and it is all that), it is a home you're invited into for your stay. The guests and hosts become friends over breakfast and family over a weekend. Cliff and Chris have not just founded a successful B&B, they've created a community. We look forward to our next reunion with friends, including Cliff and Chris and friends we haven't met yet.

This is an amazing B & B. It's simply breathtaking in appearance, the proprietors are superb, the breakfast is over the top. You'll not visit another B & B like it. It's a destination! Don't miss it - if you can get a reservation!

Well, what can I say about this beautiful B&B? What a find! My husband and I booked in here sadly for only 1 night – in hindsight I wish we had booked 2. It was THE most beautiful house and well worth the wait as we booked it many months prior to our visit. In fact, bookings hadn’t opened for the period we wanted to book and Cliff allowed us to book early. The whole place is absolutely beautiful and the rooms are stunning as are the views from the rooms. The property is decorated for a period which was in keeping with its age and nothing looked out of place. Our bedroom with its 4-poster bed was stunning and the bed was so comfortable, I didn’t want to get out of it. The bathroom – well we could have had a party in there, there was so much space even with an additional stand-alone shower and the towels were so fluffy. The home-made food at breakfast looked amazing, so much so I didn’t want to spoil it and eat it, but my, I’m glad I did as it was simply delicious and endless coffee to boot. There were only 3 couples staying the same night as us and we all sat together talking at breakfast, which was lovely. The only downside and this really isn’t an issue at all, was that the room was a tad dark as there were only wall lights and no main ceiling light, with big heavy drapes covering quite a bit of the windows and not letting much light in. I guess it was in keeping with how it would have been many years ago. However, I had to go into the bathroom to see to do my makeup, so nothing really to cause any problems. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this B&B and if we are ever in this area again (which unfortunately I doubt, as we had travelled over from the UK for a road trip) I would most definitely stay there again without hesitation.

Gorgeous. Like staying in a manor house. Beautiful view, great breakfasts and importantly, nice and interesting inn keepers (Cliff and Chris). An easy drive down an empty pretty road (Rte. 11) to Lexington VA.

We have stayed twice and plan to go every couple of years, the cottage is one of the main reasons we visit natural bridge. We love the attractions, safari park, natural bridge trail, and panther falls, but I don't think they would be worth the drive more than once if it wasn't for our stay at the cottage. The beds are so comfortable and, as our kids would say, "everything smells so good". Our kids and their cousins adore running around and playing games on the porch, taking strolls to see the fireflies, and wave to the horses. The adults like staying up late on the porch playing cards and listening to the crickets. Some vacation homes are packed to the gills with stuff, this cottage has just enough to be homey without feeling cluttered. I also like that the laundry machine is in the kitchen, my sister washed all their clothes before going home and didn't have to catch up on laundry after a long drive. They leave out freshly wrapped soap and hotel-sized shampoo and conditioner and more towels, pillows, and blankets than you need. Every time we visit, we regret not having booked a longer stay. The only downside is the internet television is very slow. I think I only tried to watch television once since the whole point is to enjoy family and nature, but if that's something you like to do, maybe bring some blue-rays or your own internet tv plug-in (apple tv, fire stick). I'm pretty sure we did mirroring with our computer or tablet the first time we visited and that worked pretty well. There may or may not be a grill and the coffee machine is a Keurig, and they leave snacks and creamers that are complimentary. There's a fire pit that had plenty of wood ready to go for a night of roasting marshmallows. Cliff is super responsive via email, he even offered to mail some clothing we left behind on accident.

This was our first bed and breakfast experience and was a wonderful introduction to B&Bs. No detail was overlooked, from the beautiful home and furnishings to the hearty breakfast. The view from the rocking chairs on the back porch of pastures and hills was stunning. Our hosts were very attentive to our needs, but not intrusive. Definitely five stars.

I cannot rate the inn highly enough. This is a fantastic, antique-filled B&B. You have to see it, since descriptive words escape me. The bedroom was very comfortable and charming. The grounds from the back porch were beautiful and scenic. The breakfast was comparable to the best restaurants. Also, you could not ask for a better host. The rate was very reasonable, especially considering the experience. And you're just down the road from Natural Bridge.

The Inn is lovely. The surroundings are stunning. The owners are very nice. The problem was that very strongly scented detergent is used to wash sheets and towels. The scent was overly powerful and made me feel sick to my stomach. As a result I had trouble sleeping. And the windows could not be opened...they were painted shut..and there were no screens, even if they could be opened. The natural ells of the outdoors would have enhanced the visit.

Upon arrival we were cordially welcomed with an opened door by one of the owners Cliff. He invited us in with a smile as we stood in awe at the absolute beauty of this estate. The house is breath taking and the décor exquisite. The common area is sprawling, the guest rooms comfy and cozy and the energy in the house is warm and welcoming. Our breakfast was served at 8:30am sharp and consisted of southern favorites such as biscuits and gravy, cubed French toast stuffed with blueberries and cream cheese with side of sausage and frittata with fresh veggie and cheese. Absolutely delicious! The property is well manicured, peaceful and serene. I would return time and time again. Love it!
