House of horrors! There is only so much that fresh paint can cover up. Upon check in, I was given a fob with two keys - I asked what the second key was for and was told that was a key to the outside door for "after hours". The door handle and security latch to my room were of closet... More

This place looked so cute on the website and I like staying at older, non-chain places, but when I got there, it felt like they didn't really care if they had guests or not. Our room was stuffy and the smoke alarms had been ripped out (front desk didn't seem concerned). When we got one WITH a smoke alarm, it... More

This was without a doubt a huge disappointment. This Inn looks cute and quaint from the outside, but it is very uncomfortable. The bed was springy, and noisy, the shower water jetted out like a fire hose, and the walls are so thin you can hear everyone walking around upstairs, and in the hallway. Apparently the family upstairs had several... More

My family and I fell in love with the MacArthur Inn and Narrows, Virginia. The inn is rich with history all of which is narrated and shared by Allen Neely, owner. The inn is beautifully restored with comfortable rooms and an awesome porch. Be sure to plan your visit to see the Mountain Music Jam! Don't miss the Mill Creek... More

I am staying this away for work. I had stayed at another hotel in rich creek that was almost double the money and not near as nice as here. Great staff, they have a lot of knowledge of this hotel and town history. The front porch with the rocking chairs are great. When I first walked in it reminded me... More

Very clean inn with so much character and wonderful staff. Extremely fair prices. Convenient location especially for hikers. Fast shuttle from the trail for 5 dollars round trip. We definitely enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed longer.

This unique little hotel caters to hikers, bikers, river rats, fishermen and folks on short-term duty at the nearby Celanese plant. The story goes that when it was built in 1942 a contest was held to name it - and President Roosevelt was the judge. FDR chose the name of the General who at the time was a national hero... More

MacArthur Inn is a nostalgic fun place full of character. My second stay there after VA Tech football games both times. Friendly and engaging staff. comfortable room and beautiful location a stones throw from the New River. I will be returning to stay there again.

The pictures uploaded are a small glimpse of the uncleanliness of this hotel . We booked for two nights and left after the first ... It was terrible , the rooms were filthy. The building has so much potential , but unfortunately it has a long way to go.

My trip to ye olde Narrows for an NHS Class of 1964 51st Reunion was highlighted by my evening stay at this well-kept, family-owned hotel. My brother and I stayed there with our parents for six months in 1948 while our dad was setting up his medical practice after WWII in the vicinity. I vaguely remember the black and white... More
