As we have seen so many of the great resorts reduce services and amenities in an effort to cut costs, the Salamander has kept up the standards we have come to expect from an independent first-class resort. Food is great, rooms are spacious and well appointed, staff is friendly and well trained. Overall a great experience.

The rooms and horse facilities are great and the staff is excellent. However, the meeting facilities are challenging for a larger group due to the accoustics. The food was somewhat mixed with most being OK for basic food, but nothing was worth the large price tag. Service was excellent. The exercise facilities were very clean and well-kept, but weights maxed... More

Salamander is a relatively new resort. The hotel, property, and area are truly spectacular. The staff was very helpful and courteous, almost overdoing things: "Was your meal delicious?". Rooms were spacious and well equipped. All in all, a great stay.

Choose the Salamander for a girls getaway after seeing it on the Today Show. Excellent choice! Our Estate Double Queen room was spacious & lovely. We used the deck often. The grounds are extremely well maintained and provide activities for everyone and anyone! We spent a day exploring wineries (concierge helped set up driver). Highly recommend for a romantic getaway,... More

Everybody was very courteous and treated us with professionalism. We had a fantastic room, complete with fireplace and balcony. The bed turn down procedure of an evening was very complete and made me feel very special. There is a wonderful variety of activities for all ages. I enjoyed the many comfortable sitting and reading areas, and felt quite at home.... More

Salamander Resort and Spa is located in beautiful Middleburg, Va. The property could not be more lovely and the resort is exquisite without being stuffy. Our room was nice and private and wonderfully decorated. The common areas around the lobby were fun and inviting. The bar was great and the restaurant served very good locally sourced (some of the food... More

Amazing property, so close to DC but so far away in terms of ability to get away! Gorgeous grounds and rooms, impeccable service, the perfect escape! The spa is amazing, the running trails are beautiful, and it's within walking distance of the charming Middleburg downtown. Wish I had more time - will try to get back with my family or... More

Salamander is a lovely hotel, well-appointed and beautifully situated in a lovely setting. However, I fell ill 18 hours into my 2-night/3-day stay there. I was surprised and dismayed that Salamander had no onsite shuttle or other vehicle available to transport me to the nearest medical care facility located 15-20 minutes away. Because there is no taxi system in Middleburg,... More

We had a wonderful time at Salamander Resort and have to thank Jenny Greenleaf for making it so special for us. Since we love wine, she recommended we tour the three local vineyards one day.
