The staff went above and beyond for us. They made sure we were able to find a local place to dine when all their restaurants on property were fully committed for the evening. I highly recommend this place! Spend the money and look no further.
Great time had by all; staff was great; kids loved it. Food was very good. We plan to make mothers day a tradition at the salamander. My wife was very happy and loved the massage and the kids had a blast at the indoor pool after dinner.
Salamander is an outstanding resort and experience. Highly recommended by me. The staff was excellent throughout the property. The property was clean and beautiful inside and out. The services were on point: efficient and very satisfying.
There are so many wonderful things I could say about Salamander! The staff make you feel welcome. The rooms are clean and spacious. The Goldcup and Harriman’s having amazing food and wine. We frequent at Salamander often because we can’t get enough! Also, we just got married there! Thank you Jose C. and Lindsay for always being amazing!!
You cannot go wrong at this resort! Anna at Harriman’s Grill and David with the room service team made our entire stage that much more enjoyable. Everybody is accommodating, the food is delicious, the location is next to a cute little town, and the hotel itself is beautiful. We can’t wait to return!
Honestly, a beautiful Virginia retreat. Price is high in order to keep guest demographic very selective, catering to the rich. Beautiful anniversary weekend, but the resort seemed a bit understaffed. Multiple times no one out front to greet guests. Customer service could be better with housekeeping staff.
Our experience at Salamander was subpar. The cost vs experience did not come even close. We came midweek to celebrate my birthday, most things were closed. Knowing it’s been a challenging time for everyone and having lots of grace, we continued to experience little issue plus little issue that added up to be a lot of things that we wrong. The biggest was the hostess didn’t want to seat us at the Gold Bar restaurant because we were a party of two. We were told we need reservations (not true); it was only for hotel quests (I was one), then after it became a ‘thing’ we were able to enjoy dinner. It was more drama than it needed to be all because of not wanting to seat us on a very quiet night. Then after sharing our concerns with management, we were told we would be contacted to make the experience right and that never happened. It left a very bad taste after the resort was talked up by many people. If you are looking for somewhere in VA I would recommend the Omni Homestead over Salamander. …
We spent 3 nights at the Salamander Resort for my son’s Spring Break. The resort is very family and dog friendly. Everything was top notch - the service was the best I’ve experienced anywhere, the food was great, the rooms were very nice and kept spotless, and the rest of the facilities were very well maintained. There were lots of activities for families and my kids loved it. We look forward to our next visit!
The resort is beautiful, and the staff is outstanding with A+ service. The hotel is pet friendly, do yourself a favor and confirm whether or not if the rooms adjacent yours have pets in them because if not, they will drive you crazy with all the barking. The goal is go and relax and enjoy everything the resort has to offer.
I have spent a total of 3 hours over the past two days on hold just waiting for someone....anyone.... to pick up the phone at Salamander reservations, operator or front desk. I needed to clarify/confirm a reservation that was made online but had an error. I actually had to leave a message and wait for someone to return my call which happened 2 hours later on the second day. Then the agent could not make the correction, suggested that I make a 2nd reservation then cancel the incorrect one. WHAT? He then had to call me back again to say that it was finally sorted. I asked about booking the spa during my stay and mentioned that I had been on a separate hold on. three separate calls (waited for 30+ mins for each), ultimately left messages and never received a call back. He said that the only thing that he could do is leave them a message and that they were very busy. So.... it is clear to me that service is simply not their priority. I live in the region and have been there are several occasions both as a hotel guest, event guest, dinner guest and spa patron. On previous visits I kept making excuses (to myself) about inexplicably high rates given the poor and often slow service. At first I thought that it was because they were new, then it was because they were at capacity, etc. However I will not do that any more and simply will not be returning. I don't think that they want my money or my patronage. Instead I'll be headed to the Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental or Ritz Carlton- all have great restaurants, spas, beautiful rooms and high levels of service. Oh yea- and they are cheaper!…
