Property's Favorite Review
The inn is easy to find and parking is also very easy. It is in a great location if you are aiming to visit Marshall as you can walk down Main St. to many different shops and restaurants. It is very close to Field and Main if you are planning to visit for dinner. It is also a short walk to the cafe where a giftcard for breakfast is provided (which was tasty). We were the only people there during our stay so we were able to use the common space which made our room feel even "bigger". The common space has a nice setup with an area to relax, games, snacks, and coffee/tea. We stayed in the Counting Room, it was similar to a standard hotel room size. It had a king sized bed which was comfortable. The rooms had their own thermostat which was nice. As others have noted it doesn't have many other amenities as you would expect at a standard hotel. This was fine with us as we had reviewed the website, but something to keep in mind. Check in was done by email and very straightforward. It was very covid friendly as you can check yourself in and out.

Pros: The room was very quiet, cozy, very clean, the linens were fresh and stylish. The room was decorated nicely. Wi-Fi was available. The bed was comfortable (firm), with plenty of pillows. There was a "Common" room with a few snacks and drinks (soda, coffee (Keurig), and tea), and a small icemaker. There was a gift card provided for breakfast at a nearby cafe. The breakfast available was sandwiches and pastries. We got the biscuit/sausage/egg sandwich and surprisingly, it was the best breakfast sandwich we'd ever had. Cons: There was no TV, phone, iron, refrigerator, or microwave available. Storehouse Two does not have a scenic view, it's a view of the roof and the gas station across the street. The biggest grievance was the lack of an iron and board. We were attending a business casual function, and a formal function. Our clothes had been in our luggage for hours, were wrinkled and we could not iron them. I called the inn-keepers only to find that there was no iron on the premises at all...not even in the "Common" room. There was a hair dryer, so I attempted to use the heat from that to iron our clothes. These rooms are not cheap! If you can provide a hairdryer, why not provide an iron? An iron is such a "basic" amenity for those of us who still iron our clothes. Also, the Wi-Fi was slow. If you are looking to disconnect from electronics, and amenities are not an issue, this is the place for you.

As a three room "mini Inn" we pride ourselves in setting guests expectations via the detailed information regarding our property that is on our website and booking engines. We would welcome your feedback as to how that information is inaccurate and how we can do better in the future to more accurately communicate our amenities. With only three rooms we know we can't be all things to all people. It looks like our accommodations didn't quite fit the bill for you and we're very sorry to see that. We know your time is valuable and we thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We wish you all the best in your future travels and hope that you will have better luck finding more appropriate and affordable accommodations in the area should you return.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Rooms Up There. The room was clean and equip with everything we needed for our short stay, and it felt very "COVID" safe since we were able to enter directly without encountering other guests. It was especially nice to have the breakfast voucher for the Red Truck Bakery. I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast if you are visiting the area.

The check in process was simple, the room was lovely and spotless. Our suite had a beautiful bedroom and bathroom all very modern and tastefully decorated. The location is great, walking distance to Field & Main ( amazing restaurant ) as well as the Red Truck ( bakery/coffee shop ). The host provided a gift card for the Red Truck which was more than adequate for breakfast and coffee for two for both mornings of our stay. It was quiet at night and the HVAC system was quiet and worked very well for the space. I would definitely stay there again.

This is my favorite bed and breakfast in this area! It is extremely well decorated and very peaceful. The bed is also so comfortable! The Red Truck Bakery where you have your breakfast is right down the street and everything there is delicious! I love the partnership these two business have as it allows for you to have a small town bed and breakfast feel, but get to go to breakfast on your own time. I have stayed at this bed and breakfast twice now and I can't recommend it enough. I can't wait for the next time I get to stay here.

Nice place. Exactly as advertised in terms of room access, decor and comfort. The bed is extremely comfortable.. Yes, the rooms are up a staircase but I had no issue navigating that. The common room is a nice touch with waters and a Keurig machine. Two very minor things. First, the WiFi wasn't working -- found only the internal 2.4GHz signal and not the one set up for guests. Given limited cell coverage the WiFi would be helpful. Second, the Keurig supplies were almost all teas. There were few non-decaf coffees. I may have taken the last one. These are small nits -- when corrected as I am sure they will be -- this place should get a rating of 5. BTW, Marshall is a neat little town. Not sure what it's story is but its cafes and food shops are far more interesting than one might expect to find.

We had an amazing time during our stay at the Rooms Up There. The accommodations were incredible everything from the furnishings, to soaps and lotions to the linens and bedding had a refinement that are hard to beat. The inn sits right in the heart of the small town of Marshall. We were able to walk to our wine dinner one evening at Field & Main, which was delicious. The inn has a room for lounging or reading that is always stocked with complimentary coffee, tea, water, sodas and snacks. For each night of your stay you're provided a card that gets you breakfast at the Red Truck Bakery, just a short walk down the street. I highly recommend the inn for your stay in wine country!

We recently booked a room here for a weekend wine getaway and absolutely loved it! Our room was upgraded because no one else booked that weekend, and the room was absolutely lovely. Comfortable bed, perfectly decorated, and I especially loved the snacks and water available in the room and common area. We ended up getting engaged on this trip and everything about the weekend was absolutely perfect! We will definitely be back!

Congratulations!!! And thank you so much for your kind words. As a small three room facility we know that we are never going to be perfect for everyone, but knowing that we are perfect for some is exactly why we do this and we are so grateful when we here it from you. Even more than receiving your compliments we are overjoyed to have contributed to the success of this milestone. We enthusiastically look forward to accommodating you again in the future.

Except for the fact that there wasn’t a refrigerator in the gathering room, it was a pleasant place to visit with our friends. Everything is for sale (furniture), but to be honest the decorating style was lacking regardless of the fact that they are decorators. Bathrooms definitely need more hooks and a thought of how a woman might use the bathrooms. Very nicely updated. This visit was in 2017, so it may have changed. The stairs are a killer if you have luggage.

Dear HoustonHappyWanderer, Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. Future guests please be aware that we don’t offer use of a refrigerator at our facility and that all of our rooms are second floor rooms with staircase only access. We sincerely apologize that those details were not made clear on our website and booking engine. We will review both to see if there is a way we can make these details more clear to avoid this type of unexpected inconvenience in the future. We have taken your comment regarding additional hooks in the bathrooms to heart and they have been ordered. The Rooms Up There prides itself in providing guests with hassle free, private, luxury accommodations at an exceptional value… but sometimes we don’t get it right and we want you to know that we hear you. As a small gesture of our gratitude (for your understanding that we are human) please reach out to us directly at theroomsupthere@8393westmain.com and we would like to offer you a code for 20% off of your next booking. Thank you for booking with The Rooms Up There. We’re sorry it didn’t work out this time, but we hope you’ll think of us again in the future.

We meet some friends at Main & Field for an awesome wine dinner and decided to stay nearby for the night. We found Rooms Up There a block away! Dan has a design business downstairs and rennovated 3 rooms upstairs in the 1805 building. We were in the Counting Room on the front of the house which was lovely. There is a common room as well that had coffee, soda, water and some snacks. He also include a light breakfast at a wonderful bakery 5 min walk up the street. This room did have some road nose in the morning but the real problem was some workers for another business that showed up early. Their drilling was an unwelcome alarm clock. That said, when Dan found out, he fully refunded our fee. We plan to visit the area more and will definitly stay there again.

Dear Jeff, As you know we were very embarrassed to hear of your disturbance. We take our guest's comfort very seriously. We may not have all the amenities of a larger establishment, but at the very least we would hope to deliver on what we promise. Our highest priority is a room that is quiet, dark and cold (to the guests discretion), and with the most comfortable bed around. I am so thankful for your acceptance of our apology and for you kind and gracious review. You will be glad to know that our contractor is scheduled to add storm windows to that room as well in an effort to further manage the street noise. BTW - we have some added incentives to share with you upon your return. Our tenant would like to comp your first night back as well as send you to dinner at The Whole Ox. We look forward to you staying with us again soon. -Dan
