Beautiful hotel in a charming historic town. Easy walking to several great restaurants and shops. This is a town you wish you'd grown up in. Residents so friendly. On an evening walk we met the caretaker of the beautifully restored Lincoln Theatre, and he gave us a tour. This is where they perform the Songs of the Mountains for PBS.... More

I stayed here one night just because it was an old, historic building. It has been the General Francis Marion Hotel since opening in 1927. The building itself is a classic of its' period with a grand facade. Some recent renovations are evident, but it also shows it's age, but everything works well. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The... More

I have stayed at the General Francis Marion twice now and love the historic hotel. You must visit the Rooster Lounge attached to the hotel and be sure to visit the second floor card room. Rumor has it the rooster with a cocktail painting was a secret code that alcohol was served at the establishment during prohibition. For history buffs,... More

We enjoyed visiting the town of Marion and staying at the General Francis Marion Hotel! So many interesting antiques but the best part was the people who work there. We loved a light breakfast on the front balcony and our room was the executive suite!!!

I gave the hotel three stars but it was an interesting stay. It definitely feels like a step back to the 1920's, but not in a bad way. The lobby, hallways, room and stairwells reminded me of the movie, The Sting. The room and furniture in the room had a time long past sort of feel to it when things... More

We stayed for two nights and truly enjoyed ourselves. Rooms were clean, comfortable, and decor was homey. Staff was friendly and courteous. If I would change anything it would be to add a desk to the rooms to make using your laptop a bit easier. Other than that I would not change a thing about this lovely hotel.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this beautiful hotel. It was like a step into the past with all the current amenities. The staff is friendly and helpful. My dinner, (ribs special), was excellent. I will stay there again, when I travel around Marion, VA.

I was pleasantly surprised by this boutique hotel. The rooms are elegantly decorated with very comfy beds. We stayed on the 3rd floor and enjoyed total quiet. As a bonus we had one of the best meals ever in the hotel restaurant. I would definitely stay again.

A wonderful find. So glad they restored this charming hotel. Our room was exceptionally clean. The breakfast was real homestyle cooking. Sunday brunch was wonderful. The town is small and well kept. Safe feeling strolling, window shopping, and several restaurants to choose from. I hope to go back again.
