We were in town to see our son run in his conference track meet. The hotel the team was staying in (a block away from The Georges) was booked for Friday night so we found this wonderful place and were beyond impressed. Such a neat, quality place! So much so that we tried to stay here our second night instead of move to the other hotel. Unfortunately, our other booking was nonrefundable. The rooms at The Georges are wonderful...neatly decorated in chic, casual look and feel with just a touch of eclectic (chairs upholstered in animal print, etc). Loved the dark wood hardwood floors in the rooms. Towels, sheets and bed were perfect. They even provide a noise machine that worked like a dream to drown out any noises. It's a different kind of hotel as you enter into the rooms (all?) via an outside door. This gives the hotel a neat, maze-like feel that is both charming & cool. The included breakfast was delicious. Lots of excellent, quality fresh fruit and made to order omelettes. We were bummed we didn't have time to enjoy a drink at Taps, the hotel bar/restaurant, because it was just a neat little hideaway type place that is decorated fabulouslyl and is so cozy you want to tuck in for a long evening of hanging out with friends. We were impressed with everything about The Georges! A fantastic place!

We love Lexington, Va as our son attended VMI. He and his fiancé married in town last week, after months of preparation and we chose The Patton Room for the Rehearsal dinner. The atmosphere was why we decided on it -Floor to ceiling windows, concrete floors a mixture of tables both high and low and couches made the Vib very welcoming. Julie, the Coordinator, attended to every detail despite many many questions and emails over a serious of months. The staff was professional and friendly. The food, in one word DELICIOUS! Melt in your mouth Salmon and Chicken were to die for. Many Compliments to the Chef!! After, quite a few guests went to Taps located right next door in the George’s hotel. The bartender handled the incoming crowd with ease and with exceptional service. Lastly, we rented Vans through Clarke Hyman, Operations Manager at The George’s, to get everyone there and back from the local hotels, church and further out. Luxury, beautiful black and white Mercedes vans that Clarke drove along with another driver Ollie. Both drivers were So pleasant, patient and accommodating! I can’t thank everyone involved enough as the night could not have been perfect!! Thank you for making this night so memorable.

15 of us stayed for an overnight and to hear Margot Shaw, Editor of Flower Magazine, talk about her new book Living Floral: Entertaining and Decorating with Flowers. It was fabulous and I hope that there will be more of these to come. Margot spoke to about 40 of us in The Patton Room, the newest addition to The Georges, which is a beautiful space and a perfect place for a speaker, a party or any gathering!! Wedding Reception!! We arrived the day before the presentation and got there in time for a great walk around VMI, W and L and Lexington. I know there are many other good walks and hikes to be done there and can't wait to explore more next time. Our rooms were beautifully and simply decorated. All the rooms are slightly different but have the same wonderful feel. The sheets are crisp and the pillows are what everyone would like on their own bed at home. The bathrooms are very nice and have everything you need and a heated floor!! Dinner was at Haywood's. The piano player played all during dinner which was so nice! I had Salmon for my entree which was perfectly cooked with a side of vegetables including brussel sprouts... a favorite. The waiters and waitresses were so friendly and attentive! The wine was delicious. Not that we needed a night cap but off to Taps we went. It's a great Bar Atmosphere and most of us had what was recommended...can't remember the name but it hit the spot! Highly recommend a visit to The Georges!! It's a warm, friendly and beautiful spot!! The staff go out of their way to make sure you have exactly what you need to make your stay perfect. Can't wait to return!!
