The Georges hotel is celebrated for its immaculate cleanliness, with special mentions of the heated floors and towel racks that add to the pristine experience. Nestled in downtown Lexington, it boasts a location that's just a stone's throw away from local attractions and VMI, as noted by many guests. The service is generally regarded as attentive, though there have been occasional lapses. Opinions on value diverge, with some questioning the price despite the comfortable and amenity-rich environment. The atmosphere and rooms are consistently lauded for their luxurious touches and stylish decor; however, noise can sometimes be an issue.

We visited for a weekend getaway as a family, and our stay could not have been better. Even with various restrictions in place due to COVID, the inn staff responded beautifully and always took care of our every need. We booked a suite which was beautifully decorated and felt like a home, not a hotel room. The parlor room with pull out sofa (although we did not use the pull-out) was perfect for relaxing, watching tv, and playing with our son. A separate powder room off of the parlor room was the perfect size and place to put our son's porta-crib, and he slept even later than he normally does at home! The queen bed in the room could not have been more comfortable. We slept better than we have in quite some time. The food at TAPS and Haywood's was excellent, especially the TAPS Burger and the Ribeye from Haywood's. All in all, our stay was lovely and we will certainly be going back!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review and your gracious comments about your stay at The Georges. We appreciate hearing from guests when traveling as a family, and we are so happy to learn your experience was so positive with your son's portable-crib having it's own little space in the powder room, so you two could enjoy the entire suite while your son was sleeping. So many of our guests love our mattresses, and as we all know it is so important having a good night's sleep when traveling. Thank you for reviewing our restaurants, Haywood's and TAPS as well. Our staff and Chefs love hearing feedback on their dishes. We look forward to welcoming you back for a family getaway or with friends or simply a romantic excursion to Lexington and The Georges very soon. Please stay Safe and Healthy.

The hotel was a great, small hotel in the middle of town. The town is so picture perfect that it looks like a movie set. We were in until 4, which is a mini suite in an annex building across the street from the main hotel. The bathroom was great, and huge. The building also had a nice communal second story patio that was perfect for hanging out or for eating take away. The hotel rooms are very comfortable and feel like they are right out of Restoration Hardware. Staff members were great and welcoming, and the property was well integrated into town. A couple of the restaurants were closed due to the pandemic, but the main lobby restaurant was open and serving breakfast and other meals. Parking was easy. The hotel reminded me a bit of the Restoration on King in Charleston in that the property has great attention to detail and feels more like staying in a private home than like you are staying in a hotel. I’m sure we will stay here again when we are back in this very walkable town. Make sure to check out W&L campus and the nearby Chessie Nature trail. Also, check out Travel and Leisure’s best hotels 2020 to read more about this hotel.

Thank you for your very kind and thoughtful review of our property. We had a wonderful design team. I'm delighted you were able to stay in Rm 4, as it is so spacious and comfortable with the view of House Mountain from the bathroom window & soaking tub. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the porch during your stay...having our open porches in both buildings is a welcomed feature of The Georges during the pandemic to enjoy the lovely mountain air and outside spaces without multiple hallways. We will be reopening our second restaurant, Haywood's Piano Bar & Grill, in early August, so we hope you can come back to visit us soon and enjoy dining a Haywood's. We are very honored and humbled by the recognition we have received from the Travel & Leisure Awards. We truly appreciate the time you have taken to write this review. Please stay Safe and Healthy! We wish you the best.

We were in town to see our son run in his conference track meet. The hotel the team was staying in (a block away from The Georges) was booked for Friday night so we found this wonderful place and were beyond impressed. Such a neat, quality place! So much so that we tried to stay here our second night instead of move to the other hotel. Unfortunately, our other booking was nonrefundable. The rooms at The Georges are wonderful...neatly decorated in chic, casual look and feel with just a touch of eclectic (chairs upholstered in animal print, etc). Loved the dark wood hardwood floors in the rooms. Towels, sheets and bed were perfect. They even provide a noise machine that worked like a dream to drown out any noises. It's a different kind of hotel as you enter into the rooms (all?) via an outside door. This gives the hotel a neat, maze-like feel that is both charming & cool. The included breakfast was delicious. Lots of excellent, quality fresh fruit and made to order omelettes. We were bummed we didn't have time to enjoy a drink at Taps, the hotel bar/restaurant, because it was just a neat little hideaway type place that is decorated fabulouslyl and is so cozy you want to tuck in for a long evening of hanging out with friends. We were impressed with everything about The Georges! A fantastic place!

Thank you very much for your thoughtful review and for noticing the design touches we hoped would make a difference. We have been hoping to tap into the track team parents during their season, so thank you for staying with us. Please share your enthusiasm for The Georges with other team parents. We hope you will come back to visit us soon. We have reopened after the COVID shutdown, and the outside porch walkways with entrances to many of the guest rooms make it appealing for getting away and enjoying the fresh mountain air and area full of outdoor activities. We hope we can welcome you back soon. In the meantime, please stay Safe and Healthy. Wishing you all the best.

We’ve been wanting to stay at The Georges since our son came to W&L and it did not disappoint. We were in room 6, a small but well-appointed room just above the Lobby. The room comes with a white noise machine which we do recommend since the room fronts Main Street, is over the bar, and is at the top of the stairs that exit to the patio and parking lot. Our room’s decor was lovely—traditional with pops of color and whimsy. The bed was exceedingly comfortable (as well as high—thankful for step-stools under both sides—they thought of everything). The tiny bathroom was a revelation, packing heated floors, a towel warmer, and everything you could want in a small footprint. The staff was very gracious and accommodating. We enjoyed delicious breakfasts in Taps and an afternoon snack on the back patio. All in all, we had a wonderful stay and hope to be back.

I am honestly very perplexed how The Georges has a top 50 in the world ranking. It is certainly a fine hotel and one of the nicest in Lexington, but neither the facilities nor the service can compare to some of the nicer chain hotels like a JW Marriott. We stayed for four days and had to request that housekeeping come to our room multiple times before they showed up. The rooms are nice but don’t have the amenities of a world class hotel (no option for making coffee in your room, peeling wallpaper, no fridge or minibar, no sugar for your coffee at breakfast, no room service option, extremely noisy rooms with lots of street noise). The service is also fine but not remarkable. It did not feel like we were staying in an expensive hotel. We requested a room with a bathtub but did not get one, and the room we were placed in was street-facing and extremely loud. Bottom line— I would be delighted to stay here on someone else’s dime, but not my own. It is a nice place, but nowhere near the top 50 in the world. You should not expect amenities like you would find at an actually world-class hotel.

We've stayed in Lexington numerous times and always wanted to stay here. Finally got an opportunity and it was great. The service is very personal, a call confirming arrival, call to review any special guest needs and a very attentive staff. The hotel is in a historic building, so the rooms are on the small side, but intimate and the appointments (bedding, towels, furnishings, soap, etc) are all what you expect in a luxury hotel. Great restaurant and bar with an imaginative menu and great service.

Lexington is a small town. We are so fortunate to have a top notch luxury boutique hotel like the George’s in the heart of town. I am a frequent traveler both for work and leisure and I work in the hotel industry. For me, what sets apart one hotel from the next is not just the quality of the room appointments, but primarily the location and most importantly the service. I’ve been traveling to the George’s since my daughter began her school search journey two plus years ago. Any chance I get (and it’s tough they sell out nearly every weekend) when visiting I’m at the George’s. It’s staff like Nancy and Clarke, Georgia and the Taps staff, as well as the location, that keep me coming back. Nancy never fails to greet me by name and assist me to my room to help with bags etc (newer staff please take note). It’s these connections that keep me coming back. Keep it up George’s & don’t go changing! Nancy I’ll see you for my check in early Feb! Cat McSwain.

This hotel is a fantastic place to stay in a charming town. It's right in the middle of the downtown shopping neighborhood of Lexington, so access to the nearby Thai restaurant and coffee shop was convenient. The complimentary made-to-order breakfast ordering system they've implemented was such a wonderful way to ensure a hot meal would be ready to pick up for you whenever you're ready to start your day. The rooms were in exceptional condition; clean, comfortable temperature, quiet A/C units. The bathrooms were luxurious and for such a simple amenity, the ample free bottled water was a life saver after a long day out in the nearby mountains. Cannot wait to visit again!

The rooms are well appointed, beautifully developed layers of texture and color created a warm, relaxing, and quiet space. The bed just wrapped you in luxury and calm, like a fluffy cloud. The staff could not have been more welcoming; the cocktails and coffee were perfection. Made you feel as though an old friend was having you over for the weekend, and you were as welcome as fresh air. We had a front row seat of the Autumn sunshine falling so nicely on the surrounding hills and gorgeous architecture from our balcony. What can I say? I forgot to buy a souvenir, guess I will have to go back.

We chose to stay at The Georges for a long weekend in celebration of our wedding anniversary at the recommendation of a friend who had stayed there before, and we are so glad that we did. Our room had the perfect view for two W&L grads, with balcony views of House Mountain and Old George upon Washington Hall. Upon the suggestion of the very attentive front desk staff, we took our breakfast on our balcony most mornings and ate in the dining room once. Both were the perfect way to start the day. Service was attentive and welcoming without being overbearing- the perfect blend of Lexington hospitality. The room was immaculate and the attention to detail was more befitting of a four or five star hotel than an inn. The bath products provided were luxury quality as well. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. Housekeeping was provided daily, with daily refreshes of bottled water that was very much appreciated after a day of hiking in the mountains in summer. We dined in Taps for two meals, and the food and service were excellent. We had plans with friends most nights so did not have time to try Haywood's, but that is a must on our next stay. Thank you to Rebecca for such a great stay!
