We had a delightful one night stay for Valentine night and dinner on the 14th 2020. We had a two story cottage. Living room downstairs and bed and bath upstairs. The Valentine dinner (three course) prepared by their master chef Marseret consisted of first course shrimp in parmesan, garlic and pesto, second course chateaubriand, scalloped potatoes, carrots and vegetable. The last course was a delicious creme brûlée with a berry crust which melted in your mouth so delicious. Dinner was $85 plus 20% gratuity. The wine the chef paired with the dinner was a red Pinot Noir. It too was very good.

This was our second visit to this B & B. The owners are welcoming and gracious. We will return.

Thank you Mtyndall, Your return alone delighted us; and, it appears you too were "delighted" with your Valentine's overnight and dinner. Chef Meseret did succeed with her celebratory dinner and wine pairing. We are grateful for your review and we are looking forward to your promised return - #3. Dudley, Peggy and Chef Meseret

We decided at the last minute to get away for the weekend and the Hope and Glory Inn was the perfect place. Lovely cottage, beautiful grounds and wonderful dinner. Everyone at the Inn was so pleasant and very accommodating to what ever we needed. Can’t wait to go back in this Summer. Our new home away from home!

My husband and I greatly enjoyed visiting the Hope and Glory Inn with our grown daughter and boyfriend over Thanksgiving. When we checked in, we were greeted by Meseret, the talented, savvy, and kind chef who fixed a lovely cocktail in the bar area the call "Detention." Meseret and Caitlyn were super helpful, glad to have us, and the innkeepers Peggy and Dudley were very gracious. The dinner we had at the Inn was absolutely one of the best I can remember, we sat near the fireplace as course after course was delivered to us with exceptional flavor and finesse, we were both silently moved to experience such an amazing meal and delicious paired wines in such a private and lovely setting. We will never forget the oysters with the double clarified butter Yes!! The breakfasts also were top notch! We stayed in a cottage which was super crisp and clean and lovely, and hope to gather a group of friends for a special event to rent several cottages. The Tides Inn is just up the road (a bike ride away), and we enjoyed a dinner there, which was not nearly as wonderful as the dinner we had at the Hope and Glory Inn. Lovely setting, walkable to shops and other restaurants. Five Star - Highly recommend!

We stayed here for three nights over the New Year's weekend and loved every minute. The Inn features a fantastic cook, Meseret, two delightful owners, Peggy and Dudley, a great location in the village not far from Tides Inn, and very comfortable accommodations. We were in cottage 5 with a great fireplace. Because of Covid restrictions, breakfast was delivered to our cottage each morning at 8:30. I should say the gourmet breakfast was delivered, because each one was an absolute gem. The dining room was not open while we were there, but Peggy and Dudley put on a fabulous five course New Year's Eve dinner in the large, comfortable outdoor tent, and Meseret outdid herself with the amazing food. The other nights we had wonderful meals at the Vine across the street and at the Tides Inn just a few blocks away. So this turned out to be the perfect spot for us and we will definitely be back later in the year.

Virginian555, We smiled when we saw your "golden" review. Thank you for being one of the first to experience dinner under our tent. We are so glad you found it comfortable though it was winter; and, describing the food as fabulous and amazing. Meseret is irreplaceable and as you described her "fantastic". Peggy, Meseret and I look forward to your return.

If you need a getaway, your own little cottage can't be beat. The Hope & Glory is a charming location to explore the Irvington, VA area. Owner Peggy, Manager and Chef Meseret and staff member Mary made this a perfect visit. All could not do enough to accommodate our every need. Need something....just ask! The grounds, flower beds and whimsical touches are lovely. And the pool was great on a hot day.

We were traveling with another couple and we loved each having our own two story cottage. The cottages were private, comfortable, cute and well appointed. Although the in-house outdoor dining option Hooky, was not open Tuesday night when we were there, they offered to make us dinner anyway. We are so glad we took them up on that offer! The dinner of Chateaubriand and crab cake (each couple got one of each and we made our own surf and turf) was the best meal any of us had had in months and months. Meseret's wine suggestions paired perfectly with the meal and we really enjoyed getting to know her background and how she ended up bringing her culinary skills to Irvington.

This is a great home base to explore the area. We enjoyed walking around the museum grounds and marinas in Deltaville and had a great lunch (and homemade ice cream!) in Urbanna at Something Different.

All staff did a great job with masking and social distancing. No one entered our cottage while we were there. They have rooms in the main house as well, but have only been booking the six separate cottages for now.

Ann R, Our sincere apology for responding tardy to your most generous review. COVID 19 has more guests flocking to us – they, like you, understand staying smart and safe is to stay small. As you have noted, we are operating at 50% capacity only offering our six cottages; yet, we are crazy busy because our recent revenues are ahead of last year! Our increased occupancy and the COVID safety protocol we follow have left us almost no free time. Thank you for acknowledging we are doing a great job masking and distancing. Thank you for describing your visit as “perfect”; and highlighting our service by saying “Need something … just ask.” Again, many thanks for your great review. We are most grateful you titled your review “Perfect COVID era getaway” which has helped us give comfort to future guests that we are indeed a sanctuary and can offer privacy during a difficult time. Dudley and Peggy

We had an absolutely delightful experience at this Inn. The owners and staff were all so welcoming, attentive, helpful and accomodating! The personal attention was truly appreciative and definitely exceeded our expectations. Chef Meseret's level of customer service was outstanding. Her culinary talents made our anniversary weekend a fabulous gastronomical event! Peggy really took the time to provide us with excellent recommendations. We also really appreciated the COVID preventative measures and compliance that they took, as that is a primary concern for us at this time. The breakfast delivered to the door of our cottage every morning was such a nice touch. We loved having the bikes to use around town and used them to travel to the vineyard which was just down the road. The staff at the Dog and Oyster were also so friendly and down to earth. Just an all around nice place to have a special get away!

EKJ Thank you for your flattering review. Hospitality can be demonstrated in multiple ways and your description of us as “welcoming, attentive, helpful and accommodating” made us feel we succeeded in showing you true hospitality. Breakfast delivered to our cottage doors has been a great success and we are likely to continue it post pandemic. Who can complain about our version of “room service”. You too appreciate our Chef and we appreciate you describing our dinner as “ a fabulous gastronomical event”. We hope you will decide to return. We embrace change; and, we are likely to offer you some new experiences. Dudley, Peggy and Chef Meseret

My family recently spent a long weekend at the Hope and Glory Inn -- and our only regret is that we couldn't have stayed longer. We loved everything about the inn, starting with the quaint and stately main house (where we stayed) and including our spacious and comfortable bedrooms, lovely gardens and scrumptious breakfast (prepared by inn owner Peggy). Peggy and Dudley were delightful hosts, very accommodating about everything (including a relatively late change in our arrival and departure plans), helpful and always gracious. If our travels take us to the Northern Neck of Virginia again, we will definitely return to Hope and Glory.

The rooms are quaint, comfortable and very clean. The setting is very quiet and restful for just relaxing and/or sleeping. We took advantage of the optional dinner on both days and the included breakfasts. The food is terrific and the chef and support staff go to the extreme to make the visit memorable. This was our second weekend at Hope and Glory and we will definitely be back again. The owner/operators were on site both times we visited and are very cordial and active in making it a great visit.

My kids gave me for my 75th birthday gift, two nights at the Inn. When my husband and I arrived, we were met by Chef Meseret who told us about the history of the Inn and our offerings there. She took us to our two story cabin and we fell in love with it immediately! Unfortunately, because of the chilly temperatures, we couldn't take advantage of our private patio or sit on the front porch. Peggy and Dudley the owners, were so gracious and welcoming to my husband and me throughout our short stay. The breakfasts were yummy and delivered by a staff member or Dudley both mornings. The second night, we ate inside the Inn and had one of the most delicious dinners. Chef Meseret prepared an amazing dinner that consisted of two of our favorite foods which are oysters and crab cakes. Her crab cakes were by far, the best we've EVER eaten!!!!!! Chef suggested a perfect wine that complimented our outstanding meal. We are hoping to return next summer to go for a tour on Dudley's boat, enjoy the beautiful pool and of course, have some more exceptional food.

We've been to Hope & Glory several times through the years, and with each visit we are greeted as if we are beloved family members! We especially love the two story cottages with a living area below and bed & bath above. The gardens are always lush and beautiful, no matter the time of year. Peggy & Dudley know how to give visitors a lovely and welcoming experience, even in these days of COVID. We had a most delicious dinner, prepared with TLC by Chef Meseret (a more lovely lady you'll never meet!). Each bite a taste sensation! All the dinner guests were socially distanced on the beautiful patio, and warmed by not only patio heaters, but the good spirits of the chef and staff. Every morning a delightful breakfast was delivered to our porch at 8:30, to be accompanied by in-room coffee. One of our favorite things to do in Irvington is grab a Hope & Glory bicycle (free to all guests) and explore the lovely little town. We had (and have always had) a memorable time at this warm and beautiful B&B!
