Our only regret about Tide's Inn is that we didn't GO SOONER!!!!! It was every thing we have read and heard about plus more!! Our lunch was so delicious. Crab dishes for both of us! The view is gorgeous. Cannot wait to go back and spend a couple of nights there. The staff is wonderful. So friendly, helpful and courteous.... More

I needed a quick get away for my daughter and I from the DC area. The Tides Inn was perfect. Not at all pretentious, very classic with excellent service. There was plenty to do if you are so inclined, but we also enjoyed laying by the pool/river and relaxing. Beautiful area in general, you won't be disappointed.

We visited the Tides Inn for 4 nights, Friday night to Tuesday morning. The staff was uniformly friendly and helpful. The food in the Chesapeake Restaurant is wonderful, although we found the selections to be somewhat limited for an extended stay. We found plenty of activities to occupy ourselves (local wineries, and a boat ride on the river to name... More

Thank you for your review and I am sorry we had some guests who were rather disrespectful. The Tides has a number of seasons and certainly during the peak summer months before children go back to school it is a nirvana for families with children, I make no apologies for welcoming families as the Tides really suits families, being able... We went to Tides Inn by boat and stayed at their marina docks. There is a floating dock with only about 20 slips which made it very convenient and close to the Inn and pool. The first very hot day of arrival, our electric tripped out a few times, but then was fine for the rest of our 3 day... More

Tides Inn is a rare find. They are known for their southern hospitality and it shows in every employee we met. Everyone greets you as if they personally appreciate your business. Our room was large and well appointed with a balcony that overlooked the Chesapeake Bay. We found the usual amenities found in higher-priced hotels. While the town of Irvington... More

Thank you for your review. Hospitality is a people business and we tahnk you for reminding us of this. I note your comments on the grounds and I agree they have taken a bit of a beating during this exceptional heat, we will be able to get back on track here shortly. Beautiful Stay. Great food. Quiet area. Lots to do here from walking, jogging, golfing, boating, biking, or just relaxing. Reminds me of mix between campsite and resort. I would consider coming again.

Thank you, I do understand your thoughts on campsite as many of our guests spend all day outside, swimming, playing games, boating, biking, golf, etc. When it all starts with breakfast on the terrace it is more like an outdoor vacation, however that is where the comparison ends as inside we have a great restaurant, Spa, and the rooms are... I booked a three day weekend at The Tides Inn because it looked beautiful and I have kids that need constant entertainment. I saw that this resort has a lot to keep families active together and that appealed to me. I definitely wasn't disappointed! We rode bikes, played golf, swam, took a guided creek tour, had dinner on the terrace... More

We stayed at the Marina Friday nite and Stormy n crew were very good-floating docks are very nice. I stayed here 15 years ago and the place is more like a Days Inn. The pool was dirty and the pool area was even worse with stuff in the corners, awning needing repair plus beach area needed help too. I'm not... More

We have just gone through the hottest few days of Summer and the grounds really suffered from the heat, it is not a question of care just brutal 105 degree temperatures and some areas just said "Enough" We are swiftly restoring those areas but it takes a little time. I inspected the pool and beach area immediately after reading your... More

We were here for a long weekend and do not have one complaint. The staff was friendly. The grounds were clean. The food which while expensive, was great. Cookies and smores every night! We were here with our two kids and found it a great place for a family vacation.

While heading home from another trip, my husband and I decided to stop for the night at the Tides Inn where we had stayed many years ago. From the moment we arrived until our departure everyone was gracious and helpful. Our room had a lovely water view and was quite comfortable. In the gift shop, my husband asked about the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
On a lush peninsula in Virginia's historic Northern Neck, the waterfront Tides Inn has welcomed generations of friends and families who cherish the relaxed pace of local life and the Southern hospitality of our staff. Guests can learn to sail at the on-site sailing school or explore the calm waterways via paddle boards, kayaks and canoes while spotting golden eagles, osprey and herons. The 18-hole Golden Eagle golf course is a pleasantly challenging wooded course with water hazards, and there is also a Par-3 course, tennis, croquet, and spa, plus bicycles for pedaling into town. Our farm-to-table cuisine highlights oysters from the nearby Rappahannock River, and we're located on the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail with several Virginia wineries nearby. ... more   less
