We stayed for 2 nights in October 2020 as part of a week getaway around Virginia and it was wonderful. Our room was lovely with soft linens, lovely soaking tub and a nice porch to sit out and look at the beautiful property. The gem of the Inn, in our opinion, was the restaurant. We have been to probably 20 Michelin star restaurants and go out to eat often. We thought dinner would be good but were so impressed- the food was EXCEPTIONAL. Both nights, each course had no unnecessary elements, was cooked perfectly, and paired very well with the chosen wine. Portions sizes were perfect- so many chefs give too large portions- and was exquisitely plated. Honestly we thought they restaurant was on par with Inn at Little Washington and similar restaurants. Breakfast was also exceptional. We would definitely go back and highly recommend if you stay here that you enjoy dinner- it is worth it!

My husband and I went local (DMV) this year for our anniversary after putting it off due to COVID concerns. We were delighted with this quaint B & B from the beginning to the end. The quiet cottage porch with Shenandoah Mountain View’s, the choice of three lovely dining areas with great distance from others and the fine dining were of particular note. The owner/chef has found the right place to delight his guests with his culinary skills. The staff were all courteous and personable. To top it off some of Virginias finest wineries are right down the road. Don’t miss this one!

Our stay in the Windsor Room was perfect. The picture provided is why I titled my review “A room with a view” because over the tub is.a picture window looking at a lovely horse pasture and the blue ridges of the mountains. The interior decor was outstanding to every detail. A large double headed shower, double sinks, robes, a sitting area, and a king bed. It was luxurious. No TV in this escape from Novid 19 but an iPad provided relaxing music or hat ever external entertainment that was needed. Next doe in the same building was the Wakefield suite; perfect for a wedding party or family gathering with three bedrooms total-one down and two up. They too were decorated in a beautiful manner. It was a short walk up to the main Manor. Other rooms were in the manor or another building on the several acres of the manor. Everything was tastefully done. Our dinner in the Manor is another Trip Avisor review.

This lovely manor is tucked away on a hill side in Huntly VA (5miles outside of Front Royal) and it’s serene atmosphere is exactly what we needed. On the manor there are many animals, to include horses, dogs, and chickens; which also adds to the charm of the place. However, if we had to give advice to any other person staying at the Inn or the owners, we would say to make the guests aware of the characters of the horses. The staff initially stated that all the horses were “very friendly” and gave us multiple carrots to feed them. One warning should of been given and that was that the brown Mustang is a bully and will bite you. That is exactly what happened to me. When we ran out carrots, I extended my hand to pet his side and he bit my shoulder. While the injury was minor (just a large bruise) this reported to the staff of the Inn and the staff told the owners. At this time, I thought the owner would come and apologize or give us a complementary coupon for a service but nothing like this was done. For this reason only we do not believe we would like to stay at this Manor again. We travel to the B&B for the feeling of intimacy and that the owners really care about their patrons.

I highly recommend staying here. It was just the getaway we needed. The owners and everyone who works there are very friendly and accommodating. Because of the current pandemic, my husband and I were looking for a place to get away to that we could drive to. Also we wanted the option of being able to eat outside or in our room, to avoid being around too many other people. We also wanted a place to relax near a pool that was not crowded. The Glen Gordon Manor turned out to be the perfect place. We stayed in the Gordon Suite, which was situated in a separate building than the main building. It had its own entrance and shared the main door with just one other room. The room was large, with a comfortable king size bed, and a big sitting area with a comfortable couch. In the same sitting area there was a table and chairs big enough to dine on. There was also a mini fridge in the room. The bathroom was large with a separate shower and soaking tub. There was also a table and chairs outisde on the covered porch. Most people who dined at the restaurant ate indoors. The tables were all very spaced out. They utilized several rooms to accommodate social distancing and the amount of people was limited. Even though they did a great job of distancing tables, we personally did not feel comfortable eating inside anywhere yet, because of the pandemic. We opted to eat in our room one night. They were so accommodating and did everything they could to make us feel comfortable. They had to time delivery with the serving of guests who were eating in the restaurant, so some of the courses were far apart. That was not a problem for us. Other times we dined outdoors. They have several tables set up outside the restaurant for those who prefer eating outside. I highly recommend eating at the Houndstooth restaurant. My husband and I are foodies, and this was one of the best restaurants we have ever eaten at. The chef, Dayn, does an amazing job. Every course was delicious and beautifully presented. Breakfast was also included in our stay. It was amazing both days. They have a nice built in pool with several well-spaced chairs & lounge chairs with umbrellas. They also supply towels and suntan lotion. It was the perfect place to swim and practice social distancing. We spent a whole day by the pool with only 6 other people coming and going. We brought a cooler to the pool with our own drinks. I did see others with drinks from the bar. We also ordered lunch and had it delivered from a nearby restaurant right to the pool area. We wil definitely visit here again.
