Glen Gordon Manor is an exquisite location with beautiful scenery, welcoming staff, and a cozy yet top-quality environment. My father and I spent an evening wining and dining in their elegant dining area-- our entrees were superb and flavorsome. Moreover, the staff, particularly Dayn, went above and beyond to make our stay so special. It was a night to remember and I certainly encourage others to experience this location. Thank you, Glen Gordon Manor!
My husband and I stayed in the Fyvie room on Thanksgiving. It’s the perfect getaway from the city beautiful views, crisp fresh air, friendly staff and delicious meals at the Houndstooth Restaurant. I highly recommend Glen Gordon Manor. It is our second time visiting and won’t be our last.
We chose this place because it was listed in Select Registry, but apparently they are no longer members, which meant we didn't get the expected point for our stay. Oh well, we stiil had high hopes for the stay. The property is very pretty and the staff very friendly and helpful. However, our room was rather small and pretty shabby overall (it did not look as cheerful and pleasant as the pictures on the website). There was a huge closet and a non-functioning fireplace, both of which took up an unnecessary amount of space and an entry way equally useless. If all this was removed, the room might have been less claustrophobic. The bathroom also had a door to the outside, which was weird, and there was no TV. Not that we watch a lot of TV, but it's nice to unwind with at the end of the day. The room was also sweltering hot, and we didn't figure out until the morning that there was a thermostat in the bathroom. (It would have been nice if someone had told us how to use it when we checked in.) Also, if we wanted to eat dinner there it would have cost us $250. Maybe this works for the DC crowd, but it is way out of our price range. Because it was Monday night, not much else was open, so we ended up at a local joint, that was weird and not too great food-wise. I simply should have researched more carefully before reserving, but it was on our route south.…
The place is delightful, the owners and super Chefs Dayn & Nancy and all the staff at the Manor super courteous, making our stay simply marvelous. The food is something out of this earth. Simply can't understand how such an exquisit, delicate and delicious cuisine doesn't have all the Michlelin stars of the Universe. They deserve all of them! We simply adored our stay there.
Beautiful manor with historic values. Bucolic views. Rooms very comfortable. Thought the 5 course meal was good but not great. Fun to watch the chickens in the yard, seeing the horses and walking the property. They do have a fire pit area if interested. And a pool when the season permits.
It isn't merely beautiful. In fact it isn't merely exquisitely decorated. No, calling it superb accommodations would also be an understatement. It really is an experience of a lifetime to stay and breakfast at a venue this close to heavenly.. Never have we experienced a better overnight stay than here. I wager that for most people this will be so. The setting, the service, the calming effect of the entire experience will stay with you after your exit this astounding retreat.
We recently treated ourselves to a St. Valentines' getaway at Glen Gordon Manor with dinner at their Houndstooth Restaurant. Our 5-course prefix dinner was outstanding, accompanied by extraordinary presentation and excellent service. Included breakfast the following morning continued the delightful dining featured at Glen Gordon. Service throughout our stay was wonderfully welcoming, efficient, informative, and gracious. We look forward to future stays at Glen Gordon Manor.
Great location, great food and great accommodations...most important great people. As a first time visitor to this part of Virginia we could have not stayed at a better place. If you wanted to explore beyond Glen Gordon Manor the surrounding towns and venues were entertaining and diverse. Wonderful place to escape from the City commotion and congestion. Looking forward to another stay.
We had an enjoyable stay at Glen Gordon Manor. The facilities and grounds were gorgeous, and the service was friendly. Upon arrival, we were greeted with sparking wine and given a tour of the property. While the pool was closed (a November stay), the chairs were still in place so it provided a great place to lounge in the sun while finishing our champagne. We were then shown to our room (the Fyvie room, in a separate building up a short hill from the property). The room was as pictured, with a nice soaking tub and large bathroom (with fluffy robes but no slippers). We enjoyed cocktails before dinner, and a wonderful meal in the Hunt Room. Breakfast the next morning was outstanding as well. All five courses for dinner were wonderful, with the kabocha soup being the standout among them. We skipped the wine pairing in favor of a few rounds of wines by the glass (all pairings could be purchased as glasses separately). Morning coffee service to the rooms was also a very nice touch (and the coffee was delicious). My only note is on COVID precautions, which I know is a challenging topic for the hospitality industry. I was attracted to the "Stay Safe, Stay Small" messaging GGM had on its website and assumed that would mean more stringent measures in place. While GGM is following CDC guidance, I was surprised to see mostly unmasked employees upon arrival and into evening dinner service (they assured me that everyone there was vaccinated and therefore unmasked). The next morning, most of the servers wore masks. This seems to be the norm in this part of Virginia, but was a bit jarring coming from DC where indoor mask mandates are still in place. Most of the other guests also appeared to be arriving with masks on and also having an adjustment period. I know it's a weird time and all businesses are trying to do their best while making sure all guests are comfortable/happy, but I personally would have felt more comfortable if masks were worn indoors except when eating or drinking.…
My spouse and I got so lucky to make a spur of the moment trip and find a spectacular getaway in Virginia’s horse and wine country. Glen Gordon Manor is luxurious, beautifully perched amidst rolling hills, and small and personable. And lest I forget, exceedingly fine dining! The owner/chef Dayn and his lovely wife and daughter treated us like royalty, we had a suite in a small cottage outside the main house — beautifully furnished, and with a fabulous bathtub and panorama window where I could soak and watch the horses on the property — two rescue mustangs, a pony, and a retired show jumper. The hospitality, personable staff and truly lovely experience was an incredibly welcome balm in such difficult times in the world. We can’t wait to return!
