What a lovely place! Our accommodations in the Mountain Laurel Guest Cottage were so comfortable. We loved the deck for morning coffee and meditation. We experienced an air conditioning problem on our second night but the host quickly made accommodations for us to switch to a suite right across the hall. He was very responsive and kind. While I loved the deck and the amazing shower, probably the most memorable experience was simply sitting under the magnificent Weeping Willow tree by the pond just outside our cottage. Very conveniently located, this was a great place to stay and relax. Highly recommend.
This cottage was one of our favorite accommodations. Private, quite and great location to Harrisonburg and local wineries. The accommodations were comfortable and the bathroom had an amazing walk-in shower with multiple shower heads. The small deck was great for morning coffee.
We selected Bergey Cottage to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. The romance package was worth every penny. The cozy cottage was perfect for two. The little touches from the candles to the bath salts made the tub a perfect couples treat. The porch was perfect for moonlit talks deep into the night. It was so awesome we already booked our next visit.
Our stay in the Quill Cottage was delightful. The decor was lovely, the amenities were abundant, the bed sheets were so soft and the jacuzzi was relaxing. We felt pampered the moment we stepped in the door. Our daughter lives in town and we told her to recommend this establishment to anyone who comes to visit her in Harrisonburg. We hope to stay again sometime.
Stayed in the mountain laurel studio and it was beautiful. Has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Very close to downtown and all the great restaurants and so nice to have large space to come back to and relax. Great view of the pond and weeping willow.
I am so glad I explored this option and stayed here this past weekend. It was easy to book, easy to find, easy to park and incredibly cozy yet packed with modern efficiencies. I will definitely be back and be recruiting my friends who currently have kids here and will have students there in the future. What the website doesn't show is that in my room there was a journal with notes of why people came and how they enjoyed their stay. The entries were off the hook positive and really fun to read the various reasons people booked a cabin. I will be back for sure!
What a lovely place. Room was just perfect. Everything we needed for our weekend visit with our daughter. Decor was divine and the bed sheets were sooo soft!! If I had to find a negative I would say the only thing we would have liked would have been fresh towels during our stay. I guess since COVID there is no maid service. Most certainly not a deterrent for future visits! We will definitely be back!
By the Side of the Road sits in a lovely setting on quiet acreage and includes multiple guest accommodations located only 5 minutes from downtown Harrisonburg. We stayed in the Bergey Cottage which is cozy, romantic, and pristine. Gentle music was playing on the CD player as we opened the door. The queen bed was very comfortable. There is a double sided gas fireplace which can be seen from the bedroom/sitting room AND from the huge double jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. The sitting area has 2 recliner chairs for relaxing, reading, or watching TV. Janice and Dennis, the very kind innkeepers, have thoughtfully provided all amenities and special touches. Although breakfast is no longer provided, there is a portable induction cooktop (with pans and utensils), a microwave, refrigerator/freezer, and small table with 2 chairs - everything needed for breakfast prep. We packed lunches for our picnics while visiting Skyline Drive (35 minutes away). We visited two wineries for tastings - Bluestone Vineyard and the Purple WOLF Lavender Farm Vineyard, both within 9 miles from the cottage. For dinner, we highly recommend Local Chop and Grill House, which was listed in the cottage guest booklet. This property was one of the best we've stayed in. We loved it!…
We had a lovely weekend. They thought of everything for these little cottages. The only disappointment was that they had to move us to a different room. We were originally supposed to stay in the Fitzgerald Room, but they had a leak from the heavy rain. I was really looking forward to staying in that particular cottage. It was built on the original foundation, which is made of limestone. (Ghosts) 👻We still enjoyed our stay.
Very nicely appointed studios and one bedrooms. Exceptional bed and bedding. Excellent communication with proprietor, who is very accommodating. The only drawback in the studio was a table with two stools instead of two chairs. A good place to stay at the end of a Skyline drive trip. Very little to do in Harrisonburg. Stools are for kids.
