This was by far the best experience we had on our trip. Magnolia House is the most charming place, the room was spacious, the bathroom was well equipped and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was outstanding: the food was home cooked and tasted delicious. The owners were very knowledgeable about things to do and see and gave us some excellent recommendations. The house is also very conveniently located. If I ever come back to Hampton, I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else!
We stayed here for our anniversary. It was always on my bucket list to stay at a B&B. I am so glad we stayed at this one. It was like a home away from home. It was a lovely time. The decor is fits the theme of the inn. There are magnolias in simple details which shows that everything was thought of down to the wall tiles. The food was amazing! It was so tasty and filling we didn’t eat lunch on the days we stayed. Joyce and Landford are wonderful pair and fabulous innkeepers. We didn’t want to leave.
We booked a room last minute for one night. The house is beautiful! We felt very welcomed and relaxed. The neighborhood was quiet, the bed very comfortable, and the front porch a perfect place to relax. The hosts were amazing and we hope to make it back for a longer stay.
Magnolia House Inn: I'm not sure where to start... Innkeepers are gracious and unobtrusive, meaning let's face it the bed and breakfast concept can take a little getting used to particularly if your boyfriend/husband is an alpha male like mine. They feel like they are staying in someone's house and therefore prefer hotels. I think the only reason I could convince mine was that it was my birthday and therefore a present to myself. So let me dispel that notion right now. Not sure how they do it, but literally they just appear when you need them and are somewhere in the background otherwise. You quickly feel at home, not sure if it's the background music softly playing as you enter and leave your day to day world behind as in it melts away literally. Maybe it's the room, ours was the Ellington Suite, felt like I was in my own world, any amenity you needed, just ask. They either think of everything or someone gets it quickly as if it was there all along. Came back from dinner out late one evening, there were snacks in the pantry, birthday treats, tea/coffee and a card for little ol' me. How thoughtful was that, didn't even get a card from my guy, but I digress. The decor is vintage and antique, tasteful provoking curiosity and quiet reflection. Breakfast is so neat(birthday mug a nice touch), meeting folks from various states, chatting, immediate camaraderie. One of the mornings Joyce (Innkeeper) could see my guy had partied a smidge too much the night before and offered to make him a separate breakfast as the gourmet one had him struggling a bit. Their recommendations for dining and nightlife were spot on. I can't say enough as you can probably tell. And I'm a tough critic. That being said I believe it's 3 visits to get a small plaque with your name on their wall...only 2 more to go! Good folk considering this intimate B&B, see for yourself. Saluting you Lankford & Joyce!…
Myself and my Husband had an Wonderful experience with the Elope and Stay in the Ellington Suite, everything was Perfect all the way down to the Delicious Breakfast served!! Mr and Mrs. Blair were Completely and Utterly Wonderful!!! It's definitely recommended if you don't want to have a formal wedding!!
Innkeepers Lankford and Joyce serve up great service with a sense of love and caring. The breakfasts were diverse and delicious, from Belgian waffles with bacon to tasty shrimp frittata. The Magnolia House is grounded in Hampton history with lots of resources available to explore the entire area. Many nice decorative touches add to the charm of this inn. But what really touched us was the friendliness of Lankford and Joyce and their humble service and commitment to each guest. Book early - Magnolia is popular for good reasons!
Our experience was HORRIBLE. We were scheduled to arrive at 1130 with a ceremony start of 1200. They said the bride could arrive at 1100. They made her wait outside until 1130. The bride’s room where she gets ready is just a bathroom and the only seat is a toilet. They were unprepared to give instructions to the wedding party and waited Until the ceremony start time to arrange the wedding party. Once we were seated in the ceremony room, which was after the scheduled start time we waited an additional 15 minutes while they cycled through several songs that were not on the brides list of songs. They were not prepared for the requested songs. During the ceremony they moved the dressing partition next to the sand mixing which greatly distracted from the bride and groom. The “professional” flyers we revived were made from their office printer the night before or the day of because they did not ask for the names until the night before. They were card stock paper with ribbon from Michaels wrapped around the crease. The paper was folded in half. We were there for one and a half hours and it cost $800 and all we got was some paper flyers, a sand glass container, a certificate, and constant reminders about masks. Do NOT recommend at all.…
I searched for a long time to find just the right get-away place for me and my husband for our anniversary. I wanted something close to the beach (for me) close to fishing (for him) and close to a lot of history (for both). Well I found it. The Magnolia House is located close to all of that. We went to Fort Monroe and their beaches, Virginia Beach, Naval Museum, went on a fishing charter and went to Williamsburg. Joyce and Langford had lots of suggestions of where to eat (and not eat - lol). For tourists that is important to help your stay be more enjoyable. They are very gracious hosts and they love what they do. We loved hearing their stories while we ate our delicious brunch. Once we ate we didn't eat again until supper. I would highly recommend their B&B. It was nice meeting the other guests and hearing their stories of where they lived and why they were there. Thank you Joyce and Langford for the wonderful memories.…
This was our first trip to the Magnolia Inn, but it definitely will not be our last. From the time we were greeted upon our arrival, until we left the Inn two days later, we were treated like royalty. While the facility is beautiful and full of history, the hospitality, warmth, and kindness of the Innkeepers was exceptional. It's very evident that Mr. & Mrs. Blair take great pride in providing guests with safe and pleasurable surroundings. Additionally, the food was just exquisite, including a surprise drink of Sorrel. We're looking forward to our next trip to the Magnolia Inn. Karl R
There is no more elegant, thoughtful, or comfortable stay in Hampton, VA, period. This b&b is located in a southern home of Victorian architecture. With 3 guest bedrooms, the accommodations are Top of the Line. Every consideration had been arranged. The owners and Inn Keepers, Mr & Ms Blair, hold numerous certifications in the Inn Keeper and Hospitality Industry, showed us every consideration and kindness. Conveniently located in the downtown area. We highly recommend.
