I'm not sure I've ever been to such a remote place. It seemed to far and disconnected from other cabins that at first it seemed a little scary to me. However, it was right down the path from a bigger house and several other small cabins. The place was warn and cozy and it was nice to have the hot tub. There's not much of an overlook, because you're in the middle of the woods, but we enjoyed it. Also, I wasn't sure how breakfast would go, but a nice warm meal was delivered to our doorstep the next morning.
This property looked great online; however, it was very difficult to get to in a large SUV (Expedition XL) and the steps looked more difficult to maneuver in person than online (we are mid-70's and I am mobility challenged). It was also difficult to find as signage is lacking. We finally were able to get turned around in the tight space and left. I tried contacting the owner (who was very friendly) to let her know that we weren't staying and to not fix breakfast for us but was not able to get through to her either by phone or email. I finally got an email thanking us for staying and when I sent a reply to that I finally got a response. Not one that I was happy with but at least a response. It is a beautiful location but we were not able to take advantage of it. The thought of returning there in the pitch black dark on a very narrow 'trail' road was just too much for me. Not to mention getting our luggage up the steps. Just did not work for us.…
My wife and I traveled the BRP last week starting in Asheville NC and heading north into Virginia. After a wonderful day of sightseeing on the Parkway we spent the night at Fiddlers Roost in Wolf Ridge Cabin No. 2. The accommodations are exceptional. Their location is very close to the BRP and easy to find. The cabin was perfect for two people. The interior is beautifully decorated, cozy gas fireplace, very comfortable bed, spacious bathroom, and very clean throughout. The hot tub on the back porch was a welcome treat after a long day's drive on BRP. Finished the day on the back porch watching the sunset. We departed early the next day prior to our cabin service breakfast. Would highly recommend Fiddler Roost and definitely make a return visit.
We just had the one night here, but it was very good! Two tips - firstly watch out for the turning off the BRP if you’re arriving in the dark as it’s easy to miss! Second, read the instructions on how to find your cabin! Stupidly I hadn’t remembered this and ended up calling for assistance, but in the darkest darkness I think I’ve ever seen the owner came out to meet us and showed us to our cabin which was great. The cabin itself was clean, comfortable and cosy, and the tub is a neat way to relax after a day’s driving. A tasty breakfast was bought to our cabin in the morning which set us up for the day. If you’re driving the parkway then this is definitely a place to consider stopping off!
Great little cabins in the woods. Neat, tidy, perfectly sized, cozy and very welcoming classic wooden cabin. We rented one, sadly only for a night, and we loved it. A realty tasty hot breakfast was delivered to us in the morning, but you want to do a shop and cook yourself for your other meals. The is a basic cooker there. We also enjoyed a mini hot tub jacuzzi on our porch too😆
