Detailed Reviews
I needed a break and a quiet place to get some work done so I spent a night at the Floyd Hotel. The outside of the hotel is unassuming (not fancy) but the lobby is very nice.
My room was decorated in a unique and cool way. I had a lamp made of real books stacked with the lamp inserted.
The bathroom is beautiful, and the amenities were mostly vegan. The lighting is modern with recessed overhead lighting and lamps on several tables. The tv offers satellite channels and there is a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker.
Floyd is an artsy town and there were local prints in the hotel as well as a room displaying handmade local items.
A breakfast buffet is available in the mornings, but I didn’t partake. It smelled delicious though.
I slept great! I got my work done, and I felt refreshed and relaxed when I left. The staff is great too. I plan to go back.

The Hotel Floyd was clean, quiet, walking distance to main attractions such as the Floyd Country Store and had a decent breakfast with eggs, sausage, gravy , grits, potatoes toast, cereal, juice and more. Rates were reasonable and they offered military discounts ( and probably others too). We would stay there again.

If the focus of your trip is the Floyd Country Store this is the only place to stay. Depending on the time of year it can be rather pricey, but the location is ideal. It's walking distance to the store. If you stay anywhere else and drive to the store parking will be a hassle.
There are two parts to the hotel - the main part and the back porch. The back porch has rooms with exterior entrances. We usually avoid staying where the rooms have exterior entrances because fo the safety factor, but we didn't have that concern in Floyd. We will try for the main part of the hotel on the next visit as it's easier getting to the room. If you're staying on the back porch you have to take the elevator one level up from the lobby then down a hallway, through two doors, down a ramp and along a sidewalk to get to your first floor room.
The greatest asset of the hotel are the employees. They are very nice. The only negative is the parking There are two parking lots. The lot on the right side of the hotel is immediately adjacent to the hotel, but it is very small and there are few spaces there. If you have a long vehicle it will be a pain getting in and out of your space if you can find one. The other lot is on the opposite side of the hotel and a bit remote. It is walking distance, but walking directly from the lot to the front door of the hotel requires going down a healthy number of stairs.
Breakfast is included and is very good, although it would benefit from increased variety. I liked their sausage, biscuits and gravy the best. The addition of a fruit juice machine would be nice.
We will be back.

We found this hotel to be very clean and spacious and very affordable. We stayed in a room on the third floor which was no problem as there was an elevator. The parking lot was on a hill above the hotel.
There was quite a variety of food offered for breakfast which was included with your stay. The hot food included scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, biscuits, and white gravy. No disposable eating utensils, plates, or bowls!
The location is within a reasonable walking distance to the variety of shops in Floyd.
I highly recommend staying at this hotel.

We stayed in the FloydFest Room 103 for one night on our way through travelling the Blue Ridge Parkway. The room was very unique with lampshades made out of album covers, and one of the floor lamps had a workable music box built in to it. The room was fairly clean but could definitely use a good "deep cleaning" to make it more what I would prefer. The king-sized bed was comfortable and we didn't hear anyone in the neighboring rooms. Outside the window we had an interesting view of a very old cemetery with graves from the civil war. It was really interesting to read the dates on the gravestones. Restaurants were just a short walk away. We went to the general store and listened to some banjo music and watched some clog dancing. They have really good ice cream there. We went for a short walk and ate at the Dogtown Roadhouse while listening to a mixture musical entertainment by "walk-on" musicians. Highly recommend the Burrata appetizer and the Pulled Chicken BBQ sandwich. After a comfortable night, the hotel had a small but nice breakfast buffet for guests. I wouldn't mind visiting again to explore the area more.

Sometimes you travel for fun, sometimes with family members other than just your spouse. This time was even more different. We currently live in Richmond, VA. Our youngest grandson, a newly minted banjo player had signed up for a country music day camp near Floyd. (He resides in Chattanooga). So his parents came up and left him with us for the week.
Here is where the fun began. Dear reader you should know that the hotel has two sections, the main hotel and an addition called The Back Porch. We were concerned that we would have to lug our bags up steps but no, the hotel has a covered adjoining rampway serviced by the main elevator. What a relief for older guests. Another delight? Chairs outside the rooms to sit on in the evening to enjoy the nights, which, BTW, are about 8-10 degrees cooler than down the hills to the east. Further delights? A small outside covered pavilion with viewing terraces for anyone who wants to play live music. A free breakfast, buffet style with a varied menu and plenty of items from which to choose.
So our adventure began. The first night there we met four people who came in for the music at the Floyd Country Store. There are jam sessions where just about anyone can jam as well as paid and also free performances, depending on the night. The one man in that group had brought his guitar and he and our grandson jammed on the front porch to the delight of other guests who were sitting out in the night air. Two nights later, they were joined by a couple and the wife joined in song for about an hour.
What fun times. The Store (Floyd County Store) served as a focal point of our stay. They serve a nice mix of what I call favorites of mine from collard greens to mac and cheese, all generous portions, along with drinks (not adult beverages). Floyd brags that it is a one stoplight town but hit does have many restaurants as well as a Virginia ABC store. Note, we always felt very safe there so much so that we were not reluctant to allow the grandson to go just about anywhere by himself.
Final comments: The businesses in Floyd appreciate their patrons and guests. Everyone was attentive and smiling. No frowns, not once, not ever. And a special tip of the hat especially to the people behind the desk and in the breakfast room as well as the housekeeping staff. Those folks, Cameron and Wilson out front, Olivia and Bonnie made us feel at home and welcome!
If you want a great nights sleep, serious mountain music and wholesome food, come to Floyd.

Would have liked more time in this small town and hotel. Very unique. It’s location makes walking around town, shopping, going to area concerts so easy. The staff was great, rooms very clean. Each room is named after a area business and the decor goes with it. Cute! Beds and pillows were very comfortable. They have a good breakfast, too.

Really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Floyd! It is nicely decorated, super clean and in a quiet area very close to downtown area. Once the car was parked, we walked everywhere we wanted to go. The front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful, and our room was spacious and comfortable. The included continental breakfast had many choices, all individually wrapped in recognition of COVID protocols. We will absolutely stay there again when in the area!

While traveling south on the Blue Ridge parkway, we happened to find this lovely hotel online. Since the reviews and the price fit our requirements, we made a reservation. We were not disappointed. The property is clean and well maintained, the staff is friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast was better than the usual hotel fare. The serving dishes were not the usual disposable type but the kind you would find in your kitchen. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. We would happily stay here again given the opportunity.

This is a very nice hotel we stayed in a king size room it is very clean the furniture is all very nice it has everything you could need and I shouldn’t even care but we find it very odd that it is decorated with pictures from a jewelry designer. There are pictures women wearing the jewelry of the jewelry designer it’s just odd but if you don’t mind that it is a very nice room it’s just odd lol I would stay here again in a minute. But preferably not in this particular room or maybe they can change the art like I said I shouldn’t even care but…

You discovered part of the secret sauce of Hotel Floyd! Each room is decorated by a small business or non profit so that our guests have the opportunity to learn more about the place they are visiting. The room you described is a fairly new addition and the room / jewelry designer has a thriving local & on line business. Please stay again and try a different room!
