We planned a last minute trip to Farmville and Ann & Janie were so accommodating!! It was like staying at home - they have really thought of everything!! Delicious breakfast both mornings we were there and when I asked about the dishes I was offered a copy of the recipes to take home! Cannot wait to return to the Inn... More

Had a great stay with Ann and Janie, owners of the Inn on the Avenues. Ladies were delightful and very accommodating. Breakfast was superb and try room was clean and comfortable. The High Bridge trail was near by (3-4 blocks) and a lot of fun to ride bicycles on.

Simply put, the reason for all of the excellent reviews is hospitality. The mother and daughter who run this bed and breakfast made us feel very much at home. The old house (100 plus years old) is charming, the rooms are very nice, and breakfast was terrific. Additionally, the location is two blocks behind Longwood University. In an age of... More

We had picked the Hunt room. Needed to switch for another guest and was glad we did! The bath tub in the Garden room was wonderful for a bubble bath! We wanted to stay here to be close to hiking the High Bridge Trail. We like to explore new trails.

My husband and I were in town for a 5K and stayed here looking for a personal touch and we were not disappointed. We arrived late and the owner waited for us, she was very welcoming and helpful in recommending dining options. She found out our plans for the next day and even offered to make us early morning orange... More

The B&B is lovely and all 3 rooms are generous and en suite. The rooms and bathrooms are clean, well-appointed, and full of charm. The owners, Janie and Ann, are exemplars of Southern hospitality. Cotton, their English Setter, is a wonderful presence throughout our stay. I am not a huge fan of B&Bs as I prefer boutique hotels, but I... More

My family and I have been guests of the inn on several occasions throughout the last 18 months. Janie and Ann are without a doubt the quintessential representation of southern hospitality and "old world" civility. Every room is meticulously appointed; each one has it's own individual charm: you cannot go wrong no matter where you're placed! The breakfast is beyond... More

My husband and I stayed 2 nights to bike the High Bridge Trail. Wonderful breakfasts each day kept us going all day. Menu variety was excellent, and the portions more than ample. Ann, Janie, and Cotton (the dog, chief of security and public relations) made our stay great. The Garden Room was so comfortable! Finally, this review is from B&B... More

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at the Inn on the Avenues while in town to attend a family funeral. We had a lovely stay in the Hunt Room. The accommodations were lovely and Janie and Ann were wonderful hosts. The breakfast each day was wonderful with a great variety. We would definitely stay here again.

Janie and Ann are the consummate hostesses! The inn is lovely - situated on a quite street near Longwood University's campus. Ample street parking (just get the parking permit upon check-in) is available and it is just a short drive (a couple minutes) or walk (10-15 min) to downtown Farmville. Breakfast was amazing!!! Coffee, tea, juice, fruit and yogurt, frittata,... More
