I am a frequent business traveler and also travel for personal trips a lot. I have stayed at Westin Tysons many, many times. I stayed here last week and the sleeping rooms are smaller than they used to be; narrow rooms, impossible to get out of one side of the bed in a room w/double beds, the closet and bathroom share a door that slides so the bathroom is never private and there is no real door handle inside of the bathroom. The electrical plugs did not work in the room. Only plug that was working was in the bathroom and one of the electrical plugs came out of the socket in my hand. The lobby coffee shop is only open at 7am until 10:30am on weekends. Fitness room is outdated. Fee for parking. This can be a popular hotel for families with kids & bags of groceries for low weekend rates. Housekeeping service was outstanding.…
I have stayed at the Westin Tysons Corner regularly over the last 3 years and would recommend this hotel to anyone over the other hotels in the area for 3 reasons: 1st and foremost the staff are interested in helping you whatever the request. Here is a good example. In the middle of COVID, I needed laundry done gien I had back to back trips for 2 weeks and the staff took my clothes to a local dry cleaned paid for it and delivered to my room. 2nd Great food for dinner at reasonable prices for a hotel. They menu is not huge but everything on it is wonderful. 3rd as others have mentioned great bedding.
Stayed a couple of nights to meet some friends and ended up booking the Westin Tysons Corner. The hotel seemed to have gone through a renovation recently and the rooms were great. All the employees I have encountered were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast and dinner were great and the price was reasonable. It looks like I have found a new home in Tyson's corner going forward when I visit.
This is my first time staying there, the beds at the Westin Tysons are incredibly comfy; Overall, I had a terrific experience and the personnel were quite courteous. The mall, movies, and restaurants are all within 5 minutes away. The hotel's cuisine and accommodations are outstanding.
I travel extensively and was very impressed by the professionalism of the team here. My luggage was lost by the airline and the team here helped me find everything I needed to make a two day stay without luggage amazing. Great food as well and the team in the Restaurant and Bar could not have been more helpful. One of the Restaurant Managers heard about my luggage issues and made a point to make sure I had everything I needed. Pretty cool, to have that type of communication from one department to another in a hotel. By far one of the best experiences, I have had. Thanks to the entire team!
My partner and I were staying at The Westin Tysons Corner (Jan 16-21) and had the most demeaning and utterly disrespectful guest service experience at this hotel. I’d like to preface this review by saying that I am a Titanium Elite member with Marriott, staying roughly 100 nights with various Marriott hotel brands in the last year alone. Of all the nights of staying with Marriott throughout the years, I have never been on the receiving of such blatant and careless disrespect from a hotel employee. After returning from dinner on Friday, Jan 20 around 9:30PM, my partner and I decided we wanted to stop at the restaurant bar to get a dessert. Upon entering the hotel we realized we left the room keys inside the room and needed to stop by the front desk to get new keys. While we were waiting for the front desk agent, Rahan, to finish up with the guest in front of us, my partner had to use the restroom. He couldn’t find the restroom, went in the wrong direction (simple mistake) and ended up near the bar where he came across Nelson, the hotel bartender. Nelson aggressively yelled to him “Where are you going?!” and “Why are you walking in that direction?!” Feeling confused as to why Nelson approached him that manner, my partner told Nelson that he was looking for the restroom. After my partner returned from the restroom, we met in the restaurant bar and I ordered the dessert because my partner did not feel comfortable interacting with Nelson after the interaction he and Nelson just had. There was only one guest in the bar area and my partner did not want to sit at the bar because of how unwelcome Nelson made him feel. We decided to sit in the very large, comfy (and beautiful) couches in the restaurant area. My partner leaned back to enjoy the ambiance and began to scroll on his phone. As we were waiting for the dessert to come out, Nelson yells across the bar, “WHEN YOU COME INTO THIS BAR, YOU SIT UP STRAIGHT! THIS IS NOT YOUR HOUSE OR A BEDROOM YOU DO NOT LAY ON MY FURNITURE!” Our mouthes along with the young lady’s at the bar hit the floor in disbelief because we could not believe he was speaking to us in that manner. We tried to ignore Nelson, thinking he would stop but he continued to yell at us as if we were children. We got up and walked over to the bar to get his name and manager’s name (both of which he refused to provide) and he proceeded to tell us, “I AM THE FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER! I MAKE THE RULES” (both of which we later found were untrue). He also yelled to us “I HAVE CHILDREN OLDER THAN YOU!” As if that were a good excuse for him to be speaking to any guest in that manner. Nelson also told us, “I DONT CARE WHO YOU CALL OR TELL” when we let him know that we would be following up with his manager regarding his behavior. In the middle of getting scolded by Nelson, Rahan (the Front Desk Agent), walked over and made no attempt to deescalate the situation. He immediately told us that we should leave without even trying to figure out what was going on or how all of this even started. In that moment, it felt like no one in the hotel was listening to understand or have our best interests as guests in the hotel. They were simply looking out for each other and that’s it. Also, it felt like they were ganging up on us rather than trying to rectify the situation. Nelson was definitely attempting instigate and provoke us to anger throughout this ordeal. I would like to say this, my partner and I have no issue being corrected by staff in the event we inadvertently violated a rule or policy of the hotel. However, there is a proper way to speak to any guest, especially those who are continuously loyal to Marriott. We feel so degraded and embarrassed by Nelson’s behavior that we will likely never stay at The Westin again. Please avoid this restaurant/bar at The Westin Tysons Corner because you will probably be greeted by disgruntled and unhinged employees like Nelson. In addition to Nelson’s unruly and rude behavior, I’d also like to point out a couple of service failures we encountered throughout the stay. Upon arrival, the front desk agent that checked in the room did not provide a warm welcome. The check-in experience was very clunky and I left the desk wondering about the elite benefits I would receive, how to use them and where things were in the hotel. Not quite the experience I’m used to having when checking into a full-service Marriott hotel. Also, at one point I came down to the front desk looking for the emporium to make a purchase but could not find anyone to help me. As I entered the elevator, I looked to my left and saw both front desk agents crouched down texting on their phones. Huge red flag and I realized that the employees at this property simply do not care. This stay was definitely the worst stay I have ever had at a Marriott brand hotel and I have seriously lost so much faith in The Westin. If this experience is indicative of the level of service provided, I would strongly encourage folks not to stay here.…
is this… art? i walked into my room with high hopes and i found this ugliest piece of crap i have ever seen. a very sad excuse for modern art. my question is, why would they buy this abomination that is “art”
Stayed here last week with my team of 12 for a week of training. The front desk staff were friendly and quickly checked me in. However, the first room I went to the main room lights didn't work. Went back downstairs and was quickly given a new room, which did work. So far, no problem, these minor issues are not a biggie to me. The room itself is on the small side, but nothing out of the ordinary. How they use that room, however, is not great. There is one long glass "barn door" that can be used to close the bathroom, or the closet. But what that means in practice is that to get to the closet, you have to close the bathroom, and vice versa, which is a pain when you're getting ready in the morning. There is also no desk, and the outlets by the bed were only 50% working. This made the room not so useful! I was on the 7th floor facing the highway, and there was highway noise in the room all night. Not crazy loud, but I've been in quieter rooms and it was enough to notice when you're trying to sleep. I used the iron to crisp up my shirts, and it was pretty beat up, but didn't scorch my clothes, but it again goes to the maintenance and upkeep of the property. As I was going to the elevators, I could see the window of another room, and it was clearly broken out. During my 4 days there, that room's window was broken the whole week. Obviously didn't affect me, but says something about the maintenance. I ate in the restaurant for breakfast all week. The servers were polite, but the food was underwhelming. It was the same buffet all week, with no variety and not so many options. Again, nothing terrible, but for the cost, it wasn't great.…
Had a good two night stay last week. I found this Westin to be very nice and really all that was missing was a Concierge Lounge. Being Titanium Elite I received free access to the breakfast buffet which was nice. Plenty of self parking, nicely updated rooms, Starbucks brand coffee in room, large fitness center, attentive staff and a restaurant with a good selection of menu options for dinner. The only thing I will say for the dinner restaurant is that I did find seating to be limited. So basically if I could change anything I’d have more seating in the restaurant at dinner and a Club Lounge.
Very disappointed with the customer service and room quality. For starters upon entering I was greeted with the worst customer service I could have imagined by the manager on duty Jan . After pre paying for my room I would not have expected this. Instead of reaching out to a manager on duty to handle the situation he acted very rudely. In addition the room had a bad smell and was noisy. Very disappointing experience all around.
