I have been coming here for over a decade and I have watched it slowly deteriorate. It seems the management does not put anything into the upkeep of this place. There was a wine cork and garbage behind the nightstand, the one bed was broken and the room door wouldn't lock or latch. The towels were once white but are now gray. The staff were helpful and that is all I can say good about the place.

This is an old Inn that could use some capital investment to improve it. Don't let their official website photos fool you. Yes, it is very clean, but some of the rooms have a major need for bathroom renovations. (See attached photos.) On the plus side, the beds have good support and the linens were clean. The motel is in a quiet neighborhood and is far enough from the road to allow a good night's sleep. Breakfast was included at the adjacent waffle house: scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, waffles, toast, cereal, milk, coffee and orange juice. Overall, the low price is fitting, just beware that it is old and needs some improvements. There is a free shuttle service that operates part time during daytime hours, but it really isn't necessary since the inn is located about 100-150 yards from a bus stop that will take you to the metro rail. Public transportation is excellent in Washington DC and is highly recommended since parking can be a hassle. Despite having a rental vehicle, public transportation was used more often than driving. You do not need to spend on a bus tour of Washington DC; the public bus and metro rail will get you there for practically free. Most locals are friendly and will direct you to the proper bus and rail to get you to your destination.

It was a very accessible place to stay also the staff was nice including the housekeeper. Is a good price from r stay and also you have all around and close. Pros: accessible, price and location Const: when other guest smoke near all that smell goes thru your room. Beds aren’t queen they’re full size in doubles. They make a good clean but that smell doesn’t help. Breakfast is another hotel beside them so isn’t bad but if is raining or snowing imposible to walk thru.

Thank you for staying with us and taking the time to share such honest feedback. The other two buildings (including the breakfast room) have recently been converted to a branded hotel, while the main lodge will be staying Governors House Inn. The next step is a lobby renovation slated to begin the first week of March (we expect minimum disturbances and to have it completed in days) This will include creating space for a continental Breakfast to be set in the lobby and as you said no more walking to another building in bad weather! We have also installed new individual heating and AC units in all the rooms and sealed the original hvac system that was shared between rooms. This will definitely eliminate the concerns regarding smoke odors from other rooms. Lastly the property doesn't have queen beds -only double bedded and king bedded rooms, I sincerely appreciate you mentioning this for others. Thank you again for the time taken- as an independent 1950's Inn reviews such as these help give our future guests a good idea of what to expect. Sincerely, Dave C.

Throw back motel but very accommodating. Simple, clean rooms with very affordable rates. The location, affordability, Ihop across the street and motel shuttle service to the Metro make this an easy decision on where to stay when visiting the DC sites and staying out of maddening traffic. This was a mother-daughter trip and we found it super easy to get around to where we wanted with very little fanfare.

I called to find out how much it was for a pet the man on the phone told me it was 50.00 per pet per night it sounds like they discriminate against pets their web site say that it is 25.00 per night pet I would like to know why they have to different prices. There are some VETERANS that need their pets. WE DIDN'T STAY HERE

Theresa, Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns, and we have relayed them to our front desk staff. For clarity the answer is there is a minimum $50.00 fee for pets on a one or two night stay, after two nights it is $25.00 per each additional night. As a Combat Veteran and a bumped and bruised up old paratrooper myself, I can absolutely assure anyone that we do not charge a fee if a person is traveling with a Service Animal unless there is damage to the room. I can also say that while we do experience a lot of carpet damage and such with some pets, I don't recollect that ever being the result of service animals- they tend to be extremely well trained. Again thank you for sharing this, as it gives a chance to clarify for future guests and reminds me to review our policies with our desk agents. I'm sorry you haven't stayed at our hotel before, but hopefully we will see you sometime in the future. Regards, Dave
