Detailed Reviews
Donna met us in the driveway with a warm welcome. The room was perfect for our anniversary getaway. The claw foot tub was a real treat for this tired momma! Everything was spotless. The breakfast delivered to our room at our requested time was delicious. Lighting the fireplace was the perfect ending to our evening after dinner at Texas de Brazil. We will definitely visit again.

What a terrific spot to stop near the Auto-train in Lorton. Our room was both clean and comfortable, and quite quiet, considering the B&B is on a well-travelled road with such a convenient location. The breakfast is delivered to your room, and is a delicious way to start the day. One of my favorite things is a journal left for guests to describe their stay. It is interesting to read the posts of people from all over the world. You won't regret your decision to stay!

I had to travel from South Carolina to Virginia for my mother's funeral. My husband could not come with me due health concerns and Covid-19. Because I was traveling alone, I did not want to stay in an hotel and decided to book two nights at the Stafford House. Upon arrival, Donna greeted me and immediately made me feel at home. The accommodations were perfect as well as the breakfasts. I highly recommend staying at the Stafford House!

We were driving south and stopped halfway at Stafford House in Fairfax Virginia. We had a lovely room with a comfortable bed, fireplace and great shower/bathroom. Best of all Donna made us a delicious breakfast before we headed out. Definitely consider stopping here if you’re in the area.

This was our first experience at a bed and breakfast and will not be my last. Donna was a wonderful host. The service and breakfast were great and location was amazing. Will definitely recommend for a relaxing getaway. My favorite feature was the fireplace.

I haven't actually stayed at the Stafford House. It was recommended to me, but it turns out that they only take married couples. Did you get that? They want to make sure nothing "immoral" happens under their roof. If I were you, I'd pick a less intrusive, more accepting accommodation. On the other hand, if you feel that complete strangers have the right to inquire into your personal behavior, this may be the place for you!

To clairify the review "singles need not apply", Stafford House welcomes singles and married couples. Business travelers as well as leisure guests enjoy a luxery suite including breakfast served to your room. However, non-married couples are referred to another B&B in the area.

+1
I recently stayed at the Stafford House to simply get away from my day-to-day stresses. I live locally so I was very familiar with the area and was more focused on my stay at the inn. As soon as I arrived I was properly greeting by Donna the innkeeper who was very warm and friendly. She accommodated my schedule and allowed me to check in earlier than originally planned. I was able to leave my car, bring my things in to my room (Queen room) while she gave me instructions for my stay.
Things to know:
Queen room is on the first floor and is extremely private. There is some street noise but not too loud. If you are sensitive use a sound machine or wear ear plugs. The room is quite large with a wood burning fire place, a sitting area, TV with basic cable, a mini fridge, an antique armoire for your clothing (there are no dressers), a queen bed with a pillow top mattress with four pillows. The bathroom is quite large with a walk in two person shower with body jets, and a built in seat, and a claw foot tub. There is no real door on the bathroom just a curtain so if you are traveling with someone hopefully you are not shy. This was not an issue as I traveled alone.
Breakfasts are delivered to your room at the time you desire. I am a late sleeper so my breakfast was delivered at 10:30 am and it was amazing. I frequent B&B's and I usually have to wake up earlier than I want. Her breakfasts are delicious and filling and she arrived right on the dot of the time you request.
There are no common areas so you are pretty much left alone which for me was great this trip. Although when I travel with my fiance I love common areas and meeting the other guests.
There is no thermostat in the room so it got a little hot during the day. If you are sensitive to temperature bring or ask for a fan. She provided a small fan to use in the bathroom as there was no ventilation.
2 water bottles, coffee maker with the fixings, bottle opener, and wine glasses are provided during your stay.
She also gave me a great deal since I was traveling alone and midweek. All in all I enjoyed my stay it was very relaxing, and private. Donna was friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were yummy and filling.

We found the inn through the GMU site's list of recommended hotels. Everything was great - the room, the breakfast and the Staffords themselves. The most amazing thing is the enormous private whirlpool bath and dry sauna.
We will stay whenever we travel to Fairfax in the future.

'Stayed in Queen Room @ Stafford House earlier this week. It was a great experience, from the time we booked, to Donna's welcome, to the upscale room and well-lit bathroom, to the yummy in-room breakfast . . . 'Would highly recommend! Good location as well.

The King Suite has a private entrance at the rear of the house. The Queen Room has a private entrance on the front. ( If you are reserving both rooms, you may eat together in the Suite.)
