Detailed Reviews
My husband and I were in the area for a family reunion and booked into the Longfellow Suite. Our stay was perfect — start to finish, booking to checkout. The location is breathtaking; the inn idyllic — instantly inviting, perfectly warm and cozy (and immaculately kept). Our innkeepers — Julie and Dave — were welcoming and expert: Their advice on how to make the most of our visit to the region made our stay a truly memorable one (the hikes! the vistas! their sister brewery!). Our only regret is that we didn’t book a longer stay. Needless to say, we’re looking forward already to finding our way back — Walden or bust! THANKS so much for a truly perfect getaway.

We were so fortunate to be able to stay at Walden Hall during Thanksgiving time with our Family! It was so great to have most of us all together. Walden is just the most beautiful B&B. It is so peaceful and quiet, the home is decorated so elegant, the ambience is just perfect! We had so much fun in the game room, playing pool and cards till the we hours in the morning. The theater room was just awesome for some of those family members who just wanted to relax and watch a movie. We had the gourmet kitchen to cook in and lots of Bald Top Beer to drink. The view is nothing but spectacular! The home overlooks a fully stocked pond, with plenty of fishing poles available to use. We couldn't have asked for a better time to spend with our family and with plenty of space to not be on top of each other. The owners were awesome and had everything we needed or asked for. A place you MUST visit! Love Walden Hall!

Walden Hall sits on one of the most idyllic settings you will ever see! The B&B is set back on acres of beautiful property with a gorgeous pond in the front. We stayed in the lovely Thoreau's Pond Suite on the first floor. It was a beautiful room with a luxurious bathroom. The pool area is wonderful as well! If we had had more time I would have loved to spend the whole day sitting and relaxing out there as it was so peaceful. The owners and staff are lovely. We ate breakfast on the porch overlooking the pond. What a beautiful way to start our day. The meal was top notch! We were served a delicious frittata with bacon, fresh fruit, yogurt, granola and pastries. The presentation was beautiful as was the taste! It was evident that a lot of care went into the preparation. We usually choose a B&B because it is located in an area we want to explore; Walden Hall, however, is a destination in and of itself! I hope to return soon just to escape the routine of daily life.

My husband and I stayed for 4 days/3 nights this past weekend, and that being said I'll start by saying that when it comes to ambiance and decor this B&B meets expectations. The rooms are exactly as pictured, and the location is in a peaceful area within a few short miles of a number of different wineries. The hosts, upon check-in, provide complimentary passes for tastings at several of the wineries, so that was appreciated. And the club basement with arcade and theater room are also nice inclusions.
However, aside from that, here is where this B&B could stand to make improvements. For starters, my husband and I were served bacon every single morning of our stay. Although the main course changed (egg dish one day, pancakes another), they were all served with a side of bacon, along with yogurt & granola and muffins (also the same each day). Maybe some sausage and/or country ham for variety would be nice and some other types of pastries? Especially considering its breakfast that's usually the highlight of the stay. So needless to say, by the 3rd morning I was less than thrilled by what was being served.
Also, let me point out that this is the only B&B that we've ever stayed that did not have some sort of light refreshments available to guests. (And I'm not referring to alcohol) Our first night, for instance, I asked the young lady who checked us in if I could have bottled water because I was a little parched. She stated that they didn't have any, but that I could grab a glass and get it from the sink. I must say, I was not expecting that type of response. Other B&B's we've stayed have not only had bottled water, soda and/or juice available throughout the day for its guests but also fresh-baked cookies or other desserts (usually in the afternoon). But not here. Anything outside of breakfast hour and you are pretty much on your own.
Now on to our room, the Longfellow Loft, which was tastefully decorated with a nice jacuzzi tub. The bed was just ok. And while the room itself was neat and clean, my husband and I were overwhelmed by the presence of stink bugs our first night. On the walls, in the closet, and above the tub. I was pretty freaked out by this, and didn't rest until my husband got rid of them all. We did inform the owner Dave, and the next day he made a few adjustments in our room that made for a more comfortable stay.
All in all, we had a pretty decent stay. However, having stayed at B&B's up and down the east coast, I don't believe we would opt to stay here again!

Our visit to Walden Hall was the most unique B&B experience that we have ever had! Instead of your typical stuffy B&B governed by cheery (or grumpy) retirees; Waldeen Hall provided a relaxed resort style atmosphere.
The pros:
-The details were amazing! Nightly turn down service, beautiful room designs, social happy hour, even artfully rolled Egyptian cotton towels in the gym. I could go on forever..
-More amenities than most large resorts! We spent hours by the saltwater pool, played billiards in “the club”, went fishing by the lake and stayed up late playing mrs pacman in the arcade!
-Amazing Innkeepers! Evanne and Erik are probably the most thoughtful, caring and professional hosts that we have ever encountered.
-Tons to do in the area! We had a lovely evening at Its about Thyme toured a local distillery and took a short drive up to Ducard Vineyards to sit and relax with some good wine.
-Amazing breakfast experience! The meals are locally sourced, simple yet elegant and utterly delicious. We ate on the front porch and watched the birds fly around the gardens before taking a walk around the pond. The light classical music outside was an excellent touch!
The cons:
-We did not have time to use the fire pit or the theater! We will have to stay again for more than two nights so we can try to do a little of everything.
We will be back very soon and will be bringing our friends! Thank you so much for your hospitality and congratulations on your success!

The owner did a fabulous job of showing the property and telling us about the area. There was thought put into every detail including the entertainment . We didn't have to bring our fire stick to watch Netflix because it was already installed in the tv in our room. We were never bored and the breakfast was excellent. The beds were very comfortable and the sheets were extremely soft it felt like you were falling asleep on a cotton ball. We will definetly be back.

The property is stunning, room beautiful and service top-notch. Our only regret was that we only stayed one night en route to a family vacation in North Carolina. We arrived to wine and snacks during happy hour, had our dinner reservations made for us (Fodis in Culpepper-- great pick!) and had an amazing breakfast. My husband has celiac and I'm a vegetarian so we fully expected and were okay with doing breakfast on our own yet she went out of the way to make us a special breakfAst. So yes, from beginning to end, it was perfect--stay here! More than one night too!

From their breathtaking views of the countryside, to their sophisticated decor on the inside, Walden Hall is the perfect mix of peace and luxury. Movie theater. Game room. Workout facility. Hot tub. Pool. Arcade. You name it -- you'll likely find it at Walden Hall.
Evanne & Eric were the perfect hosts who made us feel welcome every bit of our stay -- not to mention, they are fine cooks, too! Walden Hall takes B&B to a whole new level. I give it 10/10, A++, 5 starts all around!

I do not know where to begin, except to say if you are looking for an unforgettable experience you HAVE to visit Walden Hall. Eric and Evanne are the BEST host and hostess I've ever met! They're genuine, modest but truly listen and pay attention to every detail of their guest request. We stayed in the Walt Witman room and I must say it was glorious. The photo's do not serve justice to the grand scale and cleanliness, and beauty of our room stay. The windows are large and romantic, the lighting is perfect, and the panoramic views of the mountains and farm setting are unbelievable. Right down to the comfy robes, towel warmer, room size shower, outdoor clean large hot tub, and a king size bed that you'll melt into. I cannot say enough about the "man cave" either. The theatre room, the homemade ale that you could drink to your hearts delight, the trouble Eric and Evanne went to prepare organic tasty breakfast, as well as placing tasty cheeses, crackers, and granola out for us to snack on during the evening. The chocolate covered strawberries that were replenished TWICE, and how quickly and beautifully the cleaning staff cleaned and prepared our bed linens on both days of our PERFECT stay. There's even a "dog hotel" for travellers who bring their fury friends along. They have chickens, and most all of their food comes from local farms in season. Thank you so much Eric and Evanne for giving my husband and I a trip to remember for the rest of our life. Unforgettable! Above and beyond any other Bed and Breakfast we have ever stayed in!

Walden Hall is the most magnificent Bed & Breakfast retreat that we have ever visited. We had the most incredible weekend and we really enjoyed meeting both Eric and Evann, the innkeepers of this beautifully renovated and decorated luxury property. We've never been so warmly greeted and were bursting with excitement during our arrival tour of the property, as we passed from one luxurious room to the next. Our room was beautifully decorated, had a spacious bathroom and the most comfortable bed that I have ever slept on. The amenities were beyond belief with a beautiful saltwater pool, movie theater (yes an actual movie theater..), grill, gym, arcade and much much more. We will have to come back several times just to try them all. We had made dinner plans but ended up cancelling them and picking up takeout just so we could enjoy the property a bit more. We are so glad that we did and relaxed on the porch while enjoying a breathtaking sunset. And cows.. Mooo The breakfast was unbelievable and a gourmet's delight; and the attention to details, like artisan chocolates; mapping out directions for our evening plans; attention to food preferences and allergies; etc., etc. We were so impressed and delighted to be the recipients of such grand treatment, we are already planning our next visit!

Hello there! I am not sure if there are elevators, but I do know they have some lovely ground floor suites as well which have beautiful views and all the amenities. I'm sure if you call the innkeepers they would be able to provide more information and accommodate your needs. Hope you enjoy your trip!
