We wanted an escape. We found an attentive and wonderfully kind staff.
Hoping to celebrate our 5 year anniversary away from the four walls that have surrounded us this past year my partner and I decided to take a ride down to central Virginia. We didn’t have a specific plan, but came across this B&B while exploring wineries to visit. It looked comfortable, seemed to be close to entertainment, and had good reviews. We couldn’t have expected what we found.
Firstly, this is a B&B so unless you’re on the top floor you should expect to share the home with other guests. We stayed in the ‘Blush’ room on the main level and weren’t disturbed by any loud noises, but we were aware of the other guests. Considering that the floor is completely wood, it was actually rather quiet walking around. We dropped our gear in our room and drove down the to explore downtown Crozet. There was online resources that easily helped us find things to do, such as wineries, breweries, shopping, and even hiking trails! It wasn’t limited to things ‘close by’ either, which was great for planning! Charlottesville is East of here, Blue Ridge Parkway is West, and several attractions down the road. So much to do!!
We loved our views of the mountains and vines. Even though it’s off season, everything was still gorgeous! We took a nice walk through the long rows of vines and got ready for a private dinner. Did you know that they offer private dinners with customized meals all paired with Stinson wines?
If you’re looking for a nice place to stay, central to many attractions, with a luxurious feel and plenty to wine down with then this is the spot!!
Our morning breakfast was an unexpected 3 course fine dining experience. So much incredible food. Everyone was polite and incredibly accommodating. We felt as if family was welcoming us for our stay! Oh, if you’re looking for a special touch: order a cheese plate and bottle for when you arrive. So. Good.
We’ll be back!!

We stayed here with friends, and it was like sharing a home together. Everything about this place speaks to comfort, luxury and pure indulgence. The views of the vineyard are amazing. The outdoor swimming pool is a wonderful treat on a warm day. The rooms are well appointed and include lovely furnishings. The breakfast is delicious and such a delight with amazing coffee that can be served on the patio, screen porch or inside dining room. There is a small refrigerator with complimentary soda and each room comes with a gifted bottle of their own wine. Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about this Inn. The location is ideal as you can visit nearby wineries and dine in Charlottesville, which is less than a 20-minute drive. Stop looking a book here!

This really was a beautiful Bed and Breakfast nestled in the hills and away from the bustling city. We arrived on a Sunday and got to enjoy the tasting room before they closed. The wines were delicious and got some cheese and salami to eat with our flights. We checked in very smoothly, explored the house and common areas. Our bedroom was super clean and had everything we needed (even a heater as the room was very cold at night). The views were beautiful and our three course family style dinner was delicious. The Chef went over each plate as it was served fresh and we enjoyed each one. Thank you Chef Megan! Breakfast was another experience. The three course included fresh baked pastries (croissants one day, then muffins), a yogurt parfait, and main entree (avocado toast on first day, then an egg frittata). Chef Stephanie was attentive and provided us with our drinks, coffee and plates in a very timely manner. We stayed for two nights and took a trip into Charlottesville to explore the downtown Mall. Mondays and Tuesdays some stores will be closed but we still managed to find several places of interest. Overall, we had a very pleasant time away from the usual hustle. Before we left, we also made sure to grab the wine bottles that we enjoyed. Needless to say, it was effortless, spotless, and a wonderful getaway.

As travelers journeying from out of state to enjoy the area, this boutique inn may not have been the best fit for our needs. I'll be the first to admit we did not take the time to relish and enjoy the many amenities this inn had to offer.
The view of this hotel against the mountains and on a winery were hard to beat. Nestled on a winery, you had access to tasting and a self-service wine fridge throughout the stay. Note that if you arrive on a Sunday the adjoining winery closes by 5 pm. However standard check in is 3pm.
Maybe this experience was not what I was expecting because I had never stayed at this type of inn before. It is a small inn with only 4 guest rooms and shared common areas. The upstairs rooms are connected by a catwalk, open to the living room area below. You can hear everyone and expect to interact and mingle with all the other guests at night because the kitchen, fireplace area is shared. It was not very private.
The staff was very attentive and breakfast was the highlight of the trip. They served everyone a homemade breakfast, including delicious housemade yogurt and granola. However, it seemed as though it was prepared elseware and not assembled on sight in the grand kitchen. I guess I was expecting the option to order from a menu.
This inn is more suited to "staying" in place, more of a stay and sip kind of vibe. They encourage you to dine on property which we did not do. Otherwise, the location is inconvenient to drive between Charlottesville and for a busy agenda. Because of this, we felt like we were "interrupting" the experience of the other guests.
Additionally for the price we paid, the bed was uncomfortable and the mattress was poor. Some of the other items in the room including the carpet looked worn. The metal bedframe in the room squeaked ferociously. It was not the most relaxing stay we ever had. In comparison to the standard hotels in downtown Cville, there was probably nothing to complain about given that we had a view.
If you are looking for a serene, laid back pace of trip and attentive staff, this is the place for you. Otherwise, if you are frequently driving to wineries, etc, you may want another place where you are free to come and go easily.

Response from Stephanie Campbell, Innkeeper at The Inn at Stinson Vineyards
Responded Nov 6, 2023
We're so sorry to hear that your stay at The Inn was less than spectacular. We typically pride ourselves on high quality accommodations and a welcoming and friendly environment where you feel free to come and go easily as you please, which is sounds like we failed to do during your stay. For this, we are deeply sorry and regret that we could not offer you a more pleasant stay. Your observations are quite astute; The Inn at Stinson Vineyards is a residential home that has been converted to a bed and breakfast, and because of the nature of the building, it does offer the classic "bed and breakfast" experience of shared guest spaces—including our den with woodburning fireplace, screened-in porch, game library, kitchen, dining room, outside decks, and patios. Sometimes, the guests that stay at The Inn prefer to meet and mingle with other guests in these spaces, and other times they prefer to keep to themselves and find a more private nook of The Inn to cozy up in, or remain in their private room. The Inn's common areas are designed as separate, smaller rooms with the aim of offering the chance for slightly more privacy. However, the property is certainly more intimate than larger, traditional hotels, and interaction with any of the other three couples that may be staying there at the same time as you is fairly common. If you prefer more privacy, we offer the option to rent out the Entire Inn, which gives your group exclusive access to the entire property. Our largest suite, the Deluxe Room, also provides more private in-room lounging spaces including a private deck. Finally, if you stay during slower times of the year—January through March or during the weekdays instead of weekends—you can oftentimes find yourself as the only guests staying at The Inn. Unfortunately, October happens to be our busiest time of year, as it is Virginia Wine Month. We do regret that you did not get the chance to book a dinner during your stay at The Inn, as we take pride in our dinner program as one of the top highlights of staying at The Inn. However, are thrilled to hear you did enjoy the breakfast that is included with your stay. We do prepare this fresh in the main Inn kitchen, though our staff does try to do most breakfast preparations earlier in the mornings or during times when it is less intrusive to guests, since the kitchen is a space also shared amongst the guests. Unlike a full service restaurant however, our breakfasts are three-course prix fixe menus and don't offer a la carte ordering. We do have a full breakfast beverage menu featuring coffee and espresso drinks, a selection of teas, juices, and sparkling wine that guests can order from that is fully included in in your breakfast. With all of that being said, I am sorry to hear that we failed to inform you on what to expect for breakfast during your stay. Being located in the middle of Virginia Wine Country, we certainly are more conveniently located to the many surrounding wineries and breweries, hikes, and restaurants and shops in downtown Crozet than we are to Charlottesville, which is a 20 minute drive away from where we are located. Because of that, many guests do choose to relax at The Inn and enjoy a peaceful mountain getaway from a more bustling city like Charlottesville. We do sincerely apologize for any uncomfortable accommodations during your stay. We have taken your feedback to heart and are re-evaluaing the current mattress, bedframe, and carpet in the room you stayed in so that we are able to promptly address the issues you experienced. I do encourage you to reach out separately so we can continue the conversation and discuss some ways we can make it up to you at info@innatstinsonvineyards.com. Thank you so much for your feedback and we hope to hear from you soon.

The inn is beautiful and well-appointed with lots of details to enhance one's stay. Slept great even on our first night when I usually wake up more in a new place. The view is beautiful and the surrounding countryside and vineyards were fun to explore.
The innkeeper and chef, Stephanie, could not have been more attentive to our needs even while giving us space to be alone. Her breakfasts were AMAZING!

We had a lovely time at the Inn! The Deluxe room was just that! It had many top of the line amenities, including L'Occitane products. We enjoyed a delicious bottle of Farmer's Rest sparkling wine, an estate grown Mourvèdre from Stinson Vineyards next door. The Megachef chiller in our room insured a perfect serving temperature. We had also arranged to have the Head Innkeeper and trained chef, Stephanie Campbell, create a four course, wine-paired meal for us, a true gourmet's delight! The main course served was an incredible duck confit (slow roasted for 36 hours), which is one of Chef Stephanie's signature dishes. After a comfortable night's sleep, we were welcomed with a wonderful breakfast by Amy, complete with cappuccinos. We were treated with prompt, friendly customer service throughout. The beautiful views of the vineyards and mountains never fail to disappoint, even in February. On vacation or just a night or two away from home, the Inn at Stinson Vineyards is truly a great place to recharge and be pampered.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Inn for 3 wonderful nights in the Blush room. Breakfast was a 3 course gourmet experience on the porch with vineyard views, hummingbirds galore and delicious coffee. We also experienced the tasting dinner in the cellar and that was very good as well. We enjoyed drinking Mourvèdre and taking the Mexican dominoes on their maiden voyage. We were at the Inn on a Thursday evening so walked through the vineyard to the tasting room where they have live music from 6-8pm on Thursdays only. This is not to be missed. They have incredible fresh chargrilled oysters and delicious wine you can enjoy in Adirondack chairs amoung the vines. It was a magical evening. We saw a lot of people bringing picnics and meat that they could grill right on the property. We very much enjoyed this experience. Extra special thanks to all the staff at the Inn: Dave at the tasting room, Stephanie and Amy for the wonderful breakfasts and Megan for the tasting dinner. This place is beautiful but you all make it the super special experience that it is. We can’t wait to return 🥂

The Inn at Stinson Vineyards was exactly what we needed and wanted. Everything was perfect, from the beautiful and well appointed inn and furnishings to the friendly chefs and excellent breakfast. The fireplace and family room as well as library with puzzles, games and books were especially cozy after a day of hiking. The Cottage room comfortably accommodated 3 women, with a king bed and sweet daybed under the picture window. We wished we had stayed longer and will come back in summer to enjoy the lovely pool and deck overlooking the vineyards. Oh, and the wine is delicious and so easy to partake, since the tasting room is right next door.

When we drove up we thought well this looks like a nice place. But when we went inside we were both stunned at how beautiful it was with all the gorgeous details! We had the cottage room which had a fabulous built in daybed with spectacular views of the pool, vineyard and mountains. Our room also had a very comfortable king bed and
Large shower with a most unusual showerhead.
If we did not make reservations for dinner but the complementary breakfast, all three courses of it, were delicious and more than the usual fare.
The whole place was immaculately clean and quiet and beautiful with lovely plantings outside around the pool and the front walk. We are definitely planning to come back and will also be dining there.

This was our second visit to Stinson and just as great as the first. Unfortunately it was rainy so we didn’t get to enjoy the pool but made the most of our stay with cheese and wine! The breakfast was absolutely Devine & you can’t get anything cleaner than this place. As a self proclaimed germaphobe, Stinson truly feels like a home away from home. I also had to take a work call and the wifi held up pretty well - I’d come work from here for sure. As an added plus, the white Stinson wine is our favorite and we always leave with bottles to bring home :) we actually rented out the entire inn for a family birthday later in 2023 and we’re so excited to share this place with those we love most!
