Bacio Mediterranean Cuisine is a rare find. The portions are large and price is reasonable. We had a sampler platter and gyros (these came with a large side salad) and had lunch and dinner.

Comfortable eco-friendly vacation cottages with WIFI and an events lodge overlook a tranquil lake in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Located between historic Charlottesville, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive and the Shenandoah Valley, the family-owned property is an ideal location. The nine cottages and a main house are situated on 129 acres of hiking trails, with fishing on 3 ponds at the foot of Pasture Fence Mountain. Bikes and canoes are available for guest use. Birds abound for birding and the dark night skies are ideal for sky watching. The events lodge is available for weddings, retreats and reunions with beautiful, tented decks that overlook a small lake. We love sharing the natural beauty of our family-owned property.

The owners and staff are awesome. The cabins are cozy and comfortable, and the property is amazing. This was our 4th stay and we’ve already booked our return. The property has hiking/walking trials, but is also close to some in the local area, as well as wineries, breweries and some good restaurants.

Montfair is located outside of Crozet, Virginia at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This is a popular country wedding venue in one of the most beautiful places in Virginia. I run a Division for Bartlett Tree Experts and we have rented their cabins and lodge for sales meetings, manager retreats and various workshops over the years. The owners are amazing, their prices are reasonable and the hospitality is second to none. We love the cabins. They are quaint, clean and have just the right amount of ammenities. The lodge has a huge fireplace and for $50.00 they will build you a bonfire next to their pond (which is open to fishing). There are boats and bike with miles of trails that go into the National Forest. The best part is they have WiFi but cellular reception is hit and miss. That has been a benefit for us as we try to get away from the hustle and bustle. Montfair is the best!

Alan, Your Division of Bartlett Tree Experts are great guys ands women who are serious about their work, wonderful people and guests who take great care of the Montfair property. We are so glad these hard working folks enjoy the beautiful Montfair property surrounded by the mountains, that you all find the atmosphere both conductive to productive collaboration and as a means to relax from the hectic everyday work life. It makes us happy to have the versatile lodge for workshops, meetings and retreats and your team finds the cottages with WiFi comfortable and clean. Our team is always inspired by your team getting together to get to know one another better to form a stronger team. We are always happy to see the Bartlett Teamwalk in the door! We look forward to the next Bartlett Tree Experts Event! Best, Leora

My husband and I stayed here one night during a long road trip. We received an email explaining detailed directions (because gps tends to get it wrong as you get close!) and explaining check in. We had no trouble finding the cabin with the instructions and we actually never saw a soul while we were there. The A-Frame Paw-Paw cabin was ready for us with the lights on and the keys on the table. It was adorable, warm and cozy and it overlooked the lake. Anything you needed for cooking or linens were available. They just ask that you wash kitchen items and put them away. Unfortunately it was cold and rainy so we couldn’t use the grill or the other amenities they offer that are included (like bikes and canoes). The surrounding grounds were beautiful! My husband and I decided to adventurous and chose to sleep in the upstairs beds - like we were camping out! It was actually too warm so we had to turn off the heater, but then we were comfortable and it was fun!!! We would definitely stay here again.

Our son and daughter in law recently hosted their wedding at Montfair. The staff were brilliant, helpful and hard working. The setting was beautiful - through rain, wind, clouds and sunshine. The cabins were comfortable, clean and perfect for families and friends to share coffee on the porches, host communal breakfasts, and relax alone. This could not be a more perfect site for an elegant, relaxed, family-focused event. It's also great for a solo visit which we did last year - peaceful, easy access to Charlottesville and surrounding sites.

Came to MontFair for a wedding. The cabin we stayed in was ADORABLE and perfect. This place has everything you need and nothing you don’t. It’s not fancy. It’s basically a tiny house except it was built in the 60’s so it has this charm and steadfastness to it. Surrounded by old woods, with a view of the lake and lotuses from the shaded porch, I can’t recommend this place enough. There are a bunch of little cabins like this. Come here immediately, especially in crazy Covid world. Let your soul breathe a little and then breathe a little more. The AC is strong, the kitchen has what you need, and just the pure simplicity of the layout and appointings is itself a gift and a mark of hospitality. It’s like MontFair is saying “we’ve thought of everything you need, and look how efficient this little place is when you have what you need and not a million other distractions. We did this so you can rest and relax and feel human again.” Seriously, this place has rerouted by whole situation. Come and get some ancient woods, chirping birds, rustling leaves, bullfrogs at night, old wood furniture, and a simpler existence. You need this.

Superfro27 we are thrilled you had such a peaceful and perfect stay for the wedding you attended at Montfair. We love that you enjoyed and appreciated all the well built cottage details that make one feel human and attended to in the middle of healing nature! We really do love sharing the rustling leaves, lake breeze and gentle walking trails that we are so fortunate to also call home. Thank you for taking great care of the cottage and we would love to have you return! Best, Leora

My boyfriend and I stayed for two days as a little couple's retreat. We were pleasantly surprised. The "fully stocked kitchenette" does not do the small kitchen justice, which has absolutely everything you need for cooking AND baking minus the ingredients themselves. Staff leave you alone unless you need something, in which case they are SO kind and accommodating. There were places on-site for mountain biking, hiking, and canoeing but I would say it is more family-friendly rather than for avid outdoorsman. They provide a list of wineries, hiking opportunities, and other areas to pass time which we did not get to....next time :)

It was tbe perfect venue for this event. The lodge was spacious, fireplace was large and the kitchen was very accommading for our catering needs. The bonfire was the highlight for us. It was set up perfectly only needing a match to get it started. Plenty of wood right there.
We were very fortunate to have cabins 3-8 for so many of us to stay in. We found them to be very clean and stocked with the kitchen essentials. They are green and I like that.
Unfortunately we did not get to hike, canoe or bike but seeing how conveniently available they are is a bonus.
We will return. It was that beautiful and tranquil and so close to where we live.

This was my first time staying in a cabin. I had no idea what to expect but went with an open mind. My visit here was nothing short of amazing! The cabin was cozy, and well-stocked with all of the things one would need to leave home without having to pack basic things. Nice and clean! The lake view from the porch was perfect! They provide canoes, life jackets, bicycles, grills...literally a great way to unplug and enjoy a peaceful getaway.

There is a bit of a disconnect with immediate customer service. May be due to Covid or not, but it caused a few issues in my visit.

We stayed here for a family wedding. The ceremony took place outdoors with beautiful views of nearby mountains. The reception at the Lodge with its large deck and lawn by the lake and great catering was lovely. Immediate family stayed in the small but comfortable cabins, and more guests were shuttled from Charlottesville.

Comfortable cabin was small but very clean and well-equipped. Beautiful location with the lake and nearby hiking and access to Charlottesville and Monticello.

The Resort's website and photos are very accurate.

We traveled to Crozet in order to attend a "Celebration of Life" for a good friend who had recently passed. There were two couples in our party, and we stayed in the Sassafrass cottage that has two bedrooms with queen-sized beds. We were fortunate to have good weather, though in the 90s during the day, but the room air conditioner was adequate to keep us all comfortable. We were very happy with our choice to stay here as opposed to a hotel room. Montfair is a beautiful, peaceful place, and perfect for relaxing and enjoying a little music, sharing good bourbon , telling stories and bonding with friends. Morning coffee on the porch was exquisite. And all of us had the best sleep during those two nights that we could remember. As our friend was widely known to say, "Life is Good!"

Yes, this is a heavily wooded area with some grassy breaks. I stayed at the Loblolly Cottage. No view of the mountains, but a pretty good view of the small lake on the grounds.
