We absolutely loved our stay here. The included use of canoes for the lake and mountain bikes for the trails was hard to beat! The mountain bike trails were great and there were plenty of other "normal" areas to ride bikes also. I have invited friends and family for our return trip! I highly recommend if you desire a peaceful trip nestled in the Blue Ridge. Also close to Monticello, Walton's Mountain, numerous wineries, Skyline Drive, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The location cannot be beat!

A friend and I came up here for a nice peaceful getaway, and that's what we got! The approach to the resort is beautiful; lovely homes and rolling hills on the main road, and then a nice road into the resort lined with flowers and other landscaping. I've been to mountain resorts before, and I must say that the road in is in much better shape than others! The cabin, Butternut (#2) was so cute and had everything we needed, including a corkscrew! The owners were kind enough to provide information about the area, too. All the facilities were fine -- good shower, decent kitchen, comfy beds, nice heater. We loved sitting on the deck with a view of the lake. The cabin isn't large, but it was great!

This was our second stay at Montfair and much like the first, it was peaceful, beautiful and a needed escape from modernity's roar. When Montfair's Slam Door Road comes in view off of Garth Montfair's beauty takes over. If you're looking for a true getaway where the only reason you'll need the internet is to settle Scrabble disputes, this is your place!

My mom and I stopped here for one night on our road trip from PA to FL. I wished we had booked it for longer. It was cozy and clean inside and the views were beautiful. Such a quaint place for a quiet getaway. Would love to come back someday!

Our son and daughter in law recently hosted their wedding at Montfair. The staff were brilliant, helpful and hard working. The setting was beautiful - through rain, wind, clouds and sunshine. The cabins were comfortable, clean and perfect for families and friends to share coffee on the porches, host communal breakfasts, and relax alone. This could not be a more perfect site for an elegant, relaxed, family-focused event. It's also great for a solo visit which we did last year - peaceful, easy access to Charlottesville and surrounding sites.

This was my first time staying in a cabin. I had no idea what to expect but went with an open mind. My visit here was nothing short of amazing! The cabin was cozy, and well-stocked with all of the things one would need to leave home without having to pack basic things. Nice and clean! The lake view from the porch was perfect! They provide canoes, life jackets, bicycles, grills...literally a great way to unplug and enjoy a peaceful getaway. There is a bit of a disconnect with immediate customer service. May be due to Covid or not, but it caused a few issues in my visit.

My husband and I stayed here one night during a long road trip. We received an email explaining detailed directions (because gps tends to get it wrong as you get close!) and explaining check in. We had no trouble finding the cabin with the instructions and we actually never saw a soul while we were there. The A-Frame Paw-Paw cabin was ready for us with the lights on and the keys on the table. It was adorable, warm and cozy and it overlooked the lake. Anything you needed for cooking or linens were available. They just ask that you wash kitchen items and put them away. Unfortunately it was cold and rainy so we couldn’t use the grill or the other amenities they offer that are included (like bikes and canoes). The surrounding grounds were beautiful! My husband and I decided to adventurous and chose to sleep in the upstairs beds - like we were camping out! It was actually too warm so we had to turn off the heater, but then we were comfortable and it was fun!!! We would definitely stay here again.

We arrived after internet reservations to cabin 2 which has a view of the lake and back of cabin is woods. I went for walk on one trail and came back with ticks. So spray yourself - I did not. We wanted to relax and we are writers so it works out excellent. Places for weddings, conferences. Lake to fish several families with children a raccoon came. and entertained us. Tried to get in trash container with due diligence

We were at Montfair for our daughter’s wedding. The location is beautiful. We rented the entire place for a weekend. The cabins were great. The lodge needs little in the way of decorating with great indoor and outdoor space. The staff are so nice and helpful. Recommend it highly!

We stayed here for a family wedding. The ceremony took place outdoors with beautiful views of nearby mountains. The reception at the Lodge with its large deck and lawn by the lake and great catering was lovely. Immediate family stayed in the small but comfortable cabins, and more guests were shuttled from Charlottesville. Comfortable cabin was small but very clean and well-equipped. Beautiful location with the lake and nearby hiking and access to Charlottesville and Monticello. The Resort's website and photos are very accurate.
