We were very pleased with our stay here on May 29, 2021. We were stuck in a bad spot bc there was a mix up at our rental house. They kindly took us and our dog at the last minute. Let us check in early with no charge bc the weather was horrible and we had now place to go. The staff especially the breakfast people were outstanding. The food was ample and delicious. We stayed at hotels 2 times in last 6 weeks and this by far had the best breakfast. The rooms are small and eating area small, but would definitely stay here again. Even my 84 year old mil who is picky loved it. Right on the water!
We stayed 4 nights and just relaxed. Fresh coffee in the lobby and friendly staff that is knowledgeable about the area. Clean rooms and good linens and towels. The price was modest for all you get. We are planning more winter stays.
Stayed here with my girlfriend when we were visiting the area. We wanted a place close to the water and you really can't get much closer then the River Edge. The staff wore masks and required them of guests in the office area. Our room was nothing exceptional, but was quiet and very clean and a good value for the money. We would definitely stay there again if we are in the area.
This is my fourth annual visit and each time I am happy to find the room clean, the staff friendly , even the owners will sit down and talk with you. Wonderful breakfast is offered and close to the beach and have clean pool available. Will continue my annual visit here!
Small hotel but a great place to stay. Literally steps from the water. Very friendly people work there and try to make the best of the Covid situation. Room was clean, and tables were outside each first floor rooms for added safe space. Morning breakfast was a pleasant surprise served safely even with fresh fruit, juices coffees, eggs, and breakfast meats. Have to eat back in your room though. I’d go back again when we return to Colonial Beach.
The River Edge Inn has a great location on the boardwalk. It is easy to get to the beach. There is also a large outdoor pool. The hotel was very clean and all rooms are nonsmoking. The beds were a little hard for my taste, but my husband was very happy. It has free WiFi, but it was spotty. The people are very friendly and take Covid restrictions seriously. I will stay here again.
Enjoyed our second visit to this community and stayed at the inn for the second time. Really nice place to stay. Breakfast is ample with many selections to please many palates. Staff are friendly and eager to share about Colonial Beach. Proprietors are warm and welcoming. Our room was very cozy and the bed was super comfortable. Could not ask for a better relaxing weekend in Colonial Beach, VA.
We decided to take our family to Colonial Beach for a long weekend. Weather was beautiful, however, mornings had quite a dusting of frost. Can't help that no matter how much we try. Allow me to get on with my story. We have a disabled daughter and a "white" medical service dog. We stayed at River Edge Inn back in September and received a call from management pertaining that we would be charged a cleaning fee for my daughter's room since there was dog hair and it was not a pet friendly room. So, what do you do after spending 7 hours in a vehicle and you can't help getting pet hair on you. I was able to discuss this with management and the whole issue was dropped. Well, we returned this time and I noticed a $25 charge on my bank card from this motel. After calling them to see what it was for, I was informed that the $25 was for extensive cleaning of the room because of the white dog hair! I was told the maid had to vacuum twice and put the bed linens through 2 cycles of wash. Why have a pet friendly motel and the owner (woman) tries to get more out of you after already paying over $500 for two room during off season. I was also told that my dog barked too loud. He is trained to bark loud to get our attention when he hears something that my daughter may be going through. NEVER AGAIN will we stay here after gone there on numerous weekend getaways.😤…
This hotel is a older hotel that has been remodeled. My husband and stayed two nights. Positives: on the”beach,” pool is big, friendly small town people, great breakfast (like for real-they even had pot stickers) close to everything. Negatives: hard bed and they were working on the sidewalk in front of the hotel. You can’t hear it but you can’t get to the beach either. The bed they could fix but the sidewalk thing will probably be done this week. Overall good place to stay and clean. Favorite thing: breakfast!
I had a reservation 8/24/19 and arrived to find there was smell in the room (121) which seemed musty and damp. Since we had dinner reservations we figured we would turn on the ac and head to dinner. We returned around 11pm the smell had improved a little but was not gone. I showered and went to bed. At around 12 I woke to a burning sensation on my arms, face legs which caused itching. I tried wiping off again and aloe lotion but nothing was helping. I tried to call the front desk but, did not get an answer. We finally packed up and left around 1245am. We live about 1:40 min away. We drove home and I immediately showered again and took Benadryl. It appears I had an allergic reaction to either the water or what the sheets were washed in. I do have an allergy to chlorine however have never had this reaction from staying at a hotel. I did request a refund however, the response I received from Betty, the General Manager, was that no refund would be issued and that she thought my reaction was from a food allergy (I don't think French fries, mozzarella sticks and salad are going to cause a burning/itching sensation). I will not be staying at this hotel again nor would I recommend it to any friends/family or state employees traveling in that area. I expected more from an establishment that charges $200.00 a night for weekends.…
