Another B&B host once told us that the recommendation he got when buying his inn was to do so in an area that has a draw. His does (Asheville, NC). The Oaks Victorian does not. Nothing really in the surrounding area that I could see that would draw people to Christiansburg. W

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your review and are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at The Oaks. We actually came upon The Oaks when on our way home from looking at B&Bs in Asheville. We had originally planned to buy a B&B in an area with an "obvious" draw. To our surprise, even though Christiansburg is a quiet town, there is lots to do in the area. Virginia Tech is just 12 minutes drive, closer than the Biltmore is to many B&Bs in Asheville, and they have a wonderful center for The Arts where we have attended concerts by Itzhak Perlman, Wynton Marsalis and Audra McDonald. They also have Lane Stadium home to the VT Hokies. We also have more than a dozen micro breweries anywhere from 7 to 30 minutes from the inn and have been told a new one is opening just down the bottom of the hill from us this coming spring.. There is lots of hiking, fishing and other water activities on the New River. Just 20 minutes from us is a world class Pete Dye golf course. 30 minutes down the road in Floyd, where bluegrass music was born and it's the place to be on Friday night for the Bluegrass Jamboree in the country store. Check out the Things to Do page on our website at https://www.theoaksvictorianinn.com/things_to_do.html for things to do within an hour in every direction. We're a great home base for exploring The New River Valley and if you are ever in our area again we'd love to be you hosts. ...Linda and Bernie

My husband and I just returned from a 4 night stay in the Major Pierce room at the Oaks Victorian Inn. Our son works at Virginia Tech and we have a new grandson so we decided to stay on our own and this place was only a mile away. It was our first time at a B&B and because of Lin

Wow! Thank you so much for this incredible review. Every once in a while after a rough day we say to ourselves "Why did we choose to become innkeepers?" You and guests like you is the reason. It was an absolute pleasure being your hosts. We are always exploring our beautiful New River Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains discovering great experiences and were happy to share some of them with you. We look forward to your return visit...Linda and Bernie

The breakfast was to die for. The granola was the best along with the breakfast quiche.
The porch was great to sit outside and enjoy the mountain weather. Rooms were clean and service was a 10! Loved the back yard and the oak trees.

Dear Eddie and Marilyn, Thank you for posting this wonderful review. We are glad that you enjoyed breakfast. The cleanliness of the Inn is because of Edie our goddess of the laundry and housekeeper extraordinaire. The porch is a great place to relax with a glass of wine, a good book or interact with our other guests. We hope that you decide to stay with us again when visiting the New River Valley and all it has to offer. Linda and Bernie
