I stayed in the hotel for 3 nights in September 2020. The rooms needed renovation. The window did not stay open and the bathroom faucet leaked. No television in the room. No breakfast available before 9 am. The furniture in the garden was already piled up and it was impossible to sit outside. A far cry from the charming country inn that made this hotel number 2 on TripAdvisor in Chincoteague.

The place is a dream!!! the tea service, the room, the breakfast.. the innkeepers are the nicest people. I really recommend this place, especially for an intima celebration. I was sitting for a while in front of the japanize gardens and it was so peaceful... We also decide to go to the beach and they offer chairs, umbrellas and beach towels. Very thoughtful

On our 18 day journey this was by far our most favorite place we stayed. It was a boyhood dream for my husband to travel to where his beloved 1st chapter book “Misty of Chincoteague Island” took place & to see the horses/ponies on Assateague Island. We originally called another B&B but they were not pet friendly (we travel with our 4 1/2# poochon named Benton Mackaye aka-furball). They gave us the number for the Channel Bass Inn and let me say I am so thankful the other place didn’t take us. From the time We were so warmly greeted by Barbara and David on the front steps until our departure 2 days later, our experience here was simply amazing. It is a beautiful old home whose furnishings fit just right from the living room (which has the only tv in it and lots of books) the sunroom on the side, a storage room for the guest containing a refrigerator for your leftovers, wine etc. and all things you need for a beach day (towels, sunscreen, umbrellas, chairs, tote/picnic bags etc.) a very large dining room (which is also a tearoom on Tuesdays & Thursdays for formal Tea) & of course our bedroom which was so beautifully done in pale greens, white & yellow-very coastal. Our room also had it’s own bathroom which had just been remodeled and there were 2 plush white robes for us. Breakfast was delicious and was a formal setting with real English tea (also coffee) homemade bread, real butter and fresh fruit along with eggs & meat! Barbara makes a point of introducing the new guests to everyone and even though you’re at separate tables, conversations are enjoyed by all. They have beautiful gardens to sit in and bikes for loan to take to the beach or ride local. You may be able to get all this somewhere else but you can’t get the warmth and kindness that this special couple show you-they truly put their hearts into this place! Oh yes and Barbara made the furball feel like he was the Inly thing that mattered (this 9 yr old pooch had never cared about playing with a ball in his life-she had him chasing one in 5 minutes and bringing it back to her to play again!!!) and did I mention she also makes you reservations for dinner so you don’t have to worry about it. It made a bucket list dream a magical time for my husband and for that I am forever grateful.

After years of trips to Chincoteague and teas with Barbara, my daughter, granddaughter and I decided to spend three nights at Channel Bass Inn. She and David could not make their guests feel more welcome and comfortable. Of course the food is very good and plentiful, the conversation interesting and entertaining. Our room was pristine and the bedding so comfortable and cozy, we had no trouble sleeping, even with storm Isaias blowing outside. We look forward to making return visits.

Stayed two nights here while visiting the island. Barbara and David are exceptional hosts and treat you better than family. Our room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The AC was already set and the room was nice and cool upon arrival. Barbara called us prior to arrival to make dinner reservations for us and met us at the door upon arrival. In the mornings coffee is provided prior to breakfast and the coffee is very good. Breakfast was served personally by Barbara and David and they take care of your every need while dining. The food was very good as well. We will definitely stay here again when we revisit the island. Thank You Barbara and David for a great vacation.
