Detailed Reviews
I will go back, hopefully things will be better next time. Bathhouses were clean and convenient. Nice pool and play area. The smell coming from the waterfowl/farm area needs to be addressed. The lack of site division was a major problem for us. Actually had someone block out trailer in with their trailer!!

This was a really great place to stay, Office staff were really nice, campsite were well maintained. Reasonably price for electric, water, sewer and internet, Close to town and very quite. I would stay there again. This is a campground.

The Good: easy to find from drawbridge, close to Maddox Blvd., restaurants, boat launch, and police station; no generators allowed; some tent sites have electricity; clean bath house; quiet. The Bad: long walk to bath house from tent area; mosquitoes near pond; dirt/rut road to/around tent area; many tent sites not tree-shaded; old/aging bath house; employees helpful but owner not so much. Our experience -> the good easily outweighs the bad: my wife and I liked it - we were real close to some good eats, including Island Creamery Ice Cream (with wifi). And it was only a ten minute drive to the beach. The RVers are not noisy because most are seasonal and want quiet., We really have no reason to try the other tent campgrounds.

Contacted this park in January via email for a site. No response until April. Was told they had a site. Replied telling them I wanted the site. Followed up with a phone call and was told by Wanda they had nothing available. The only explanation was that I must have been communicating with "someone who works for me"..."It wasn't me." So we're left without a place to stay. Not a very nice way to run a business!

Great place to stay on Chincoteague if you are looking for a quite and calm atmosphere. Other campgrounds on the island are much louder, especially at night. Tent sites are great and I had the pick of the litter during the middle of the summer on a weekend. Park is a but dated but everything is clean. Animals did not bother me at all and I slept pretty close to them. They made very little noise overall. Mosquitos are bad but they are everywhere on the island. I will be back.

Booked last minute for Pony Swim week. Understandably a 5 day minimum for that week they didn't price gouge and even gave a discount for my husband being a police officer. What an awesome place! Great location, clean, quiet, 25 cent trolley runs to the place as does pony swim shuttle. Valerie and Wanda at the front desk couldn't have been any more pleasantly helpful! Originally wanted to stay at a place on the water, but after riding my bike through that very packed and very wild, wild west RV park so glad that we choose Pine Grove! The Island of Chincoteague was quaintly delightful and so efficient! For a spur of the moment decision and accommodations WOW!! My husband Fred, dogs Walter and Sonny were quite pleased as well!! It was Sonny and Walters first vacation. Walter loved the goats, llamas and ponies Sonny was a little scared of the llamas, but what fun! Thanks Valerie, Wanda, Pine Grove and Chincoteague Island for making this 50 year old gals childhood dream of the Pony Swim a pleasant reality! See Ya next time!!

We camped here for a long weekend and loved it. The campground does not allow campers to have generators. Which meant our tent camping experience was lovely, peaceful and quiet. Loved seeing the black swans. The owners are friendly and nice. Beware though, the mosquitos are really bad. Be sure to bring bug spray. The mosquitos kept us in our tent most of the time.
Clean bathrooms with hot showers. Although the showers are a tight fit for one person.
Some of the old gazebos need to be torn down. The whole campground is a bit dated but very clean.
I would love to go back. Great family location.

Our Family has been camping here for 10 years, some years a lot, some years a little but we always come back.
If your looking for Quiet and Peaceful, you'll find it here. Great rates for what ever you desire in camping, from a tent to a RV with cable tv, as well as WiFi near the office.
Highly recommended to all our friends and family for that beach getaway without all the hustle and bustle

+1
We stayed Friday and Saturday night in mid September. It is a decent place, relatively easy to find. I thought it was a little pricey for what we got. $33/night for a tent site. The lady was nice and threw in the electric site for free but I still thought it was overpriced, but the state park I wanted to stay at was booked.
The whole place seemed semi-abandoned. There were lots of RVs and trailers but we saw very few people around. The tent camping area was nearly empty, which was pleasant to have a nice open space all to ourselves. It would have been considerably less enjoyable if it were more crowded, because the sites were not well delineated and none of them were marked. This place is probably crazy in The peak vacation season.
The bathrooms were standard camping type. I posted pics because its all relative what a decent bathroom is, but I don't have high expectations for camping bathrooms.
Amazingly there were almost no mosquitoes. I think because it got into the 50s at night, so it was too cold for them. I am normally a mosquito magnet, so this was very surprising. If you're trying to avoid the bugs, I highly recommend visiting in early fall.
Now to the animals....
There were lots of penned in animals: llamas, an emu, goats, miniature donkeys and ponies and various birds like ducks and swans. It was a fun novelty, but seemed out of place. The swans and donkeys were particularly noisy and kept us from sleeping well both nights. Also I was concerned for these animals based on they state of their pens. The entire area smelled bad (not like a normal farm or petting zoo) and I never saw anyone feeding or caring for any of the animals. The water for them to drink was filthy. At least they all had fairly large spaces to roam.
Overall I thought it was an overpriced but average quality campground. Its about ten minutes to Chincoteauge Wildlife Refuge so it was convenient for us.
