Thank you Katherine D for your kind words about our Inn. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We try very hard to provide everything that would make our guests' stay as pleasant as possible, and it's great to know that you noticed and appreciated some of these special touches during your visit. And the restaurants where you dined -- we personally try each restaurant before we recommend it, and we ask for feedback from guests when returning from a dining experience. That way, we feel comfortable suggesting places to dine. We are thrilled that you found the Downtown Grille, Fleurie and Tavola to be exceptional restaurants. Please come back again and we will recommend several other outstanding local eateries.

Thank you sonnienegroso for your review. The bed in the Madison Room is a 4-post queen-size canopy bed, with a single trundle underneath, all of which which makes it a "tad" higher than other beds at our inn. Both the queen and trundle beds are triple-sheeted with Comphy sheets and our guests generally have no problems getting a good night's sleep. We're very pleased you enjoyed some other features of your room: i.e., the towels and "good hot water." We also provide plush robes and shampoo, soaps and lotions by Greenwich Bay and Gilchrist & Soames. We think that all these comforts make visiting nearby historic sites that much better!

The Washington suite was very comfortable with a wood burning fireplace and lots of natural light. The " old fashioned " bathroom was nice and equipped with all the extras you would expect. The large front porch would be a great place for a relaxing glass of wine and some cheese

Lee K, thank you for your comments and for choosing our inn as the place to celebrate your birthday! Since it was a bit chilly for you to taste wines and cheeses on our front porch, you'll have to come back when it's warmer. We also appreciate your thoughts about the bathroom in the Washington Room. When we renovated this bathroom, we decided to keep the existing tile, even though it was, as you say, "old-fashioned." We did add a more contemporary glass shower door, and a fixed stainless steel shampoo and conditioner dispenser, but we don't believe that these detract from the old-time style of the room. Glad you enjoyed your stay with us.

Wonderful and welcoming home and innkeepers. We stayed in the Monroe room which has a fireplace. They had everything set up and all we had to do was light it. It snowed during our stay so the fireplace was perfect. The room was very warm so maybe bring a small fan with you.

We wish we could say we set up the snowfall the nights you were here, so that you could really enjoy the fireplace in the Monroe Room, but we aren't that clever! We're very happy that you had a nice visit with us in celebration of your anniversary, and we look forward to your return visit.

Are you pet friendly?
Hello, Thanks for the question. No, we do not accept pets at our Inn. We have a small rescue dog who is frightened of other animals, especially in his house. We can recommend some larger hotels that take pets like the Holiday Inn and Hilton Garden Inn nearby.

Hello, Thanks for the question! We are fully booked that weekend in October- it's peak season for this area. Try checking the Bed and Breakfast Association of Virginia website - called Stay VA.
