Everything was as expected from the reservation process to the check-in/stay. Dinner was wonderful and we had personal service and the atmosphere was exactly what we wanted. Check-out was super easy. We felt right at home. The Merewether Lewis cottage was just right for our stay! We will be back!
I don’t think I’ve ever had a more generous staff at a hotel. They were so accommodating and gave us so many perks to make our honeymoon special. It was unforgettable. Steph, Casey, and the whole team are remarkable.
We held our wedding weekend at The Clifton Nov. 6-8, 2020 and we couldn't be more pleased with our entire experience! The entire team at The Clifton prides itself on guest experience and were wonderful to work with throughout the entire planning process -- which included a few overnight visits. The 20 rooms/suites on premises are beautifully appointed, clean, and textbook historic meets modern vibe. Additionally, the Chef and catering team delivered a wedding reception meal that was every bit as delicious and beautifully presented as the 5-star tasting and every night dinner service offered in the restaurant. The premises are picturesque and offer something for everyone. Moreover, if you're looking for a safe weekend getaway in this COVID-19 pandemic era, The Clifton certainly delivers!…
We stayed in the Collins Farmhouse with 3 other couples for a 40th birthday weekend away during Covid. Everything about our stay was perfect. It was so nice to have the entire farmhouse to ourselves which included a kitchen, dining room and two living rooms to hang out together. We also enjoyed a private dinner in the wine cellar with amazing food, drinks and service. We can’t wait to go back and stay in warmer weather! Easy drive to wineries and breweries and the downtown mall.
We stayed in October 2020. We stayed one night Lewis Meriweather cottage and 2 nights in the Martha Jefferson suite. Martha Jefferson suite was more expensive then Meriweather. It had a great bathroom and room BUT, our toilet was broken and you needed to take the lid off to flush. It didn’t seem like a new problem. We called about it about 3-4 times. It was never adequately fixed. This hotel isn’t cheap, so I was very surprised by this issue and their lack of attention to it. I did fill out the feedback form after and told them at check out, but probably should have been more assertive as they didnt seem to really care. Also, the Martha Jefferson suite was quite loud because you can hear everything from downstairs until about 11pm or so. This was during COVID so the bar and etc. wasn’t super busy, I can’t imagine the noise during regular times. The trails here are nice, as well as the lake. Food was excellent. I don’t think we would stay here again, if we did probably just in the cottage. I don’t think there is a nicer hotel that would provide this type of secluded experience near Charlottesville, so they have that going for them. …
