I stayed at The Graduate for one night as I was in town for a wedding. The hotel employees were superb. I arrived ahead of time and the clerk informed me that they had a room that I could have an hour in advance of check-in time so that I could get dressed for the wedding. The room, decorated in an equestrian theme, was super clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was immaculate. Certainly, you will pay for parking...$16 a day, but hey, it is a prime location. The bar on the roof was wonderful as well. I would stay there again if I return to Charlottesville, and highly recommend it to others!

Checked in the past friday and the place is what it is! Downtown, trendy, close to eating, drinking, campus. On our second night my wife found a bug in the bed and on herself. We took a picture of it to look it up on line and called the front desk and asked them to change all of our lines. When we got back to the room nothing had been made up. So we called the front desk and they said, "Oh we are moving you". We moved ourselves to the "new room" and at about 9:30pm I felt a bug crawling on me! I took pictures and we inspected the rest of the bed. We left early without checking out. I posted to the Graduate Social Media and they said contact us to handle this matter privately. We did no response. When we got home we treated all of our luggage, clothes, and ourselves as if we have been infested with bedbug! NOT A GOOD THING! 2 rooms on 2 different floors with bugs in the BED... WOW!

Stayed at this hotel with my family. Overall, both rooms were good. The bed was comfortable, the pillows were fluffy and very comfortable, the Rooms were clean and of decent size. One room had a walk in shower which was a plus. Nice rooftop bar, excellent location. Could use some TLC for hallways and rugs. Would definitely recommend it.

Not my favorite. You can’t beat the prime location and I love that they offer free bikes. The room quality and amenities were fine. But I wasn’t a fan of the room’s dark, traditional decor (looks different than on the website) and I didn’t appreciate being required to valet price at a steep price. Nothing horribly wrong with the place and if a clean room is your bar, then it’ll work well. (I didn’t find the unclean room that others have posted about). But, next time, I’d look for something that suits my tastes better and offers me more parking options.

We truly appreciate you visiting and staying with us and sharing your feedback regarding your visit. It is important that we receive your feedback so we can continue to improve our guest experience. Parking in and around the hotel location is all paid for parking and we are better priced then those other options. The street parking and the public garage all cost more then our valet prices and the only way for us to control our lot is for all of it to be valet parking to keep the in and out save. Sorry you didn't get a chance to visit our Rooftop bar & restaurant or try out our game room that is available. I do hope you give us a chance again in the future.

The people were nice as hell and it got the job done (24 hour lobby, well lit, easy to find, ect). I was sick of the “sterile” feel of the big box chains but I’m not totally happy with the graduate (although I might consider staying here again). I’m just gonna go down the list. 1. Soooo cold. Haha. I saw a bunch of people posting the rooms were baking. I walked in to the thermostat set at like 61. So kudos for responding to the comments! I turned it way up because, burrrrrr, but it’s been 4+ hours and the temp is only reading 68. 2. Vacuum job was rough. I’m no clean freak, I have a pet pig and dogs at home. But I expect a tad better. 3. The bathroom was nasty. I’m 99.9% sure someone was shooting up on the toilet and got blood droplets on the walls and ceiling. The vanity had a cup stain, there was drip marks/random spots on the bathroom walls, and the towels were kept in a wire basket on the ground. Usually I wouldn’t mind using a towel that had been chilling so close to the ground... but in this bathroom? Yikes. 4. I know Malin+goetz is expensive as hell but the products all sucked. Usually I’m not sensitive to smells but all the products smelled too musky, didn’t lather, or just smelled gross. I get they may be “on brand” but Dr. Bronners or something is the same aesthetic and smells good. 5. No wash clothes? 6. Just dusty. I have horrible vision so for me to see it, while standing up, is pretty impressive. 7. No mini fridge these days? Is this a thing? I guess I expected a tad more for this price point. 8. Some sketchy mold/mildew in the shower. Again, I was expecting a tad nicer for a new hotel.
