Bill and Cherie were excellent hosts. We appreciated their advice and enjoyed their company at the evening socials with wine and cheese. Varied cooked breakfasts. The building is old with an interesting history and quite adequate for an enjoyable stay. We understand that it is due for a remodelling by the owners at the end of the year which will update... More

Stay here for one night. This home was built by James Dinsmore, whom also built Monticello, where Thomas Jefferson lived. Great old house with so much history in it. Room was original. Built back in the 1800's. Breakfast was delightful. Hosts were very friendly and were there make sure your stay was good. Only drawback, it is on a busy... More

Bill, Sheri, and Ellie Belly (the dog) were incredible hosts that you could tell really cared about their guests. Breakfast both mornings was delicious, wine and cheese in the afternoon, and cookies baked fresh every evening. Location was perfect. Walking distance of the grounds, the corner, and downtown area. Room was clean and the veranda was magical.

Nice Hosts and dog. Stayed in Jefferson Suite. Very noisy! Right above Main Street on corner with stoplight outside. Heard every truck, motorcycle and car boom box throughout the night. Across from Virginia University Medical Center with regular ambulances/EMS helicopters in and out. Room had white noise box which did not abate the roar. Got earplugs at RiteAid to sleep... More

The hosts are wonderful, and the building is certainly not pristine. If you must live in perfection, this is not the place for you. Dinsmore House does bring some personality to the party. The common areas are comfortable, the evening cookies & milk are a treat, and the little dog (forgot her name) makes a fine 3rd host as well.... More

A lovely little B&B nestled between large modern buildings. There is free parking in the parking garage behind the building. It's in walking distance to the university campus, which is one of the highlights of the town. The innkeepers are very friendly and welcoming and they have a lovely little rescue dog who is also very sociable. We arrived just... More

We were so pleased to find this amazing historic B & B in the heart of Charlottesville. This is the historic home of Mr. Dinsmore, master carpenter at Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. The home itself was beautiful and beautifully appointed and immaculately kept. We enjoyed our stay in the Madison Room. The location was perfect with easy walking access to historic... More

This historic property is in a good location. The hosts did a nice job, parking is adjacent an easily accessed. The breakfasts were tasty and well served, the social hours (4pm to 7pm) were a fun way to meet other guests (wine and cheese included). The reason for the average rating is the rooms are in need of repair. There... More

The Dinsmore House is just minutes away from the main part of the UVA campus, a short stroll to numerous restaurants, and near a trolley stop. The free trolley will take you to the pedestrian mall (about a 15 minute walk) and it is also a nice way to see a good part of the university campus without walking. The... More
