A hidden gem, perfectly located near the main strip of shops and restaurants. The Inn was charming and offered nice breakfast, wine and cheese hour and fresh-baked cookies. The staff was so friendly and gracious. Each room is decorated differently and in nice decor.

We stayed overnight here on 18/19 July, and it was a wonderful experience! We were greeted warmly and immediately made to feel as if we were old friends. When there was a minor problem with our room's air conditioner before we moved in, without asking, we were given an even larger room. The rooms were beautifully appointed with all sorts of fascinating antiques - and they were quite comfortable. The afternoon wine and cheese snack served in the inn's historic library was a nice treat. And the morning breakfast was just right to get the day started before the very short drive to Monticello. Hopefully, we will have the opportunity to stay with them again! Thank you for a great time while in Charlottesville. Stephen and Carol Banks Springfield, Virginia

Clean room, bed was very comfortable. Location was perfect - just a two minute walk into the busy area for food, shops etc. Breakfast was OK - cakes, yoghurts etc so enough for an early start. Car parking was a case of being lucky enough to get a space!

Excellent service. Great location. Lovely breakfast and happy hour! Charming accommodations. Can’t wait to return! The staff greeted us with yummy warm chocolate chip cookies and were always ready to talk and offer suggestions. The house was less than 2 blocks from the main downtown strip. A great restaurant was just across the street and so was a lovely farmers market.

My wife and I stayed here in April 2022 during a visit to Charlottesville. We stayed in Room 6, which is just inside the front door to the left as you enter, and by the foot of the stairs. Despite this, the room was very quiet and very comfortable. The breakfast is a continental type; very good, but don't expect a hot breakfast. There is a really nice wine and cheese offering in the late afternoon that we took advantage of while sitting on the big, comfortable porch. The site is convenient to the Charlottesville Downtown Mall (an easy two block walk) and we also walked to the University of Virginia from here, although that's a hike of a bit more than a mile. It's also close via auto to Monticello. They are upgrading their parking out back and when done that will be very nice. We would recommend this inn if staying in Charlottesville.

Had a great solo trip to C’ville and was extremely happy with my choice of 200 South Street Inn. My room, #6 was spacious and comfortable. There was a gas fire place which i didn’t use and and narrow but large bathroom. Hollis, Chris and the rest of the staff were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Full of great suggestions on where to go and what to do. Located on a quiet street but incredibly close to anything you want. Great continental breakfast with local baked goods, homemade granola and locally roasted coffee. There was also yogurt and fresh fruit. Also the wine and cheese spread on the evenings was enjoyable and another chance to mingle with the other guests. Always a full bowl of fruit on the hall table and fresh baked cookies at the front desk. I will be returning again. You may notice the train does run directly behind the Inn. This was a concern that proved unfounded. The Inn has a well laid out peaceful patio with a tall screening wall. The building is well constructed and maintained. No creaking or shaking. I was on the 1st floor by the stairs and entrance and it felt quiet and private. Don’t let the lure of the downtown mall keep you from trying out the nearby delicious venues of Bang!, Paradox Bakery and Sultan Kabob. Check out the farm market just down the street on Saturday morning as well.

We were only passing through for a night, but our stay in Room 12 (top floor) couldn't have been more delightful. Both upon arrival and as we were headed out the next morning, the innkeepers made us feel incredibly welcome, shared all sorts of good information about the area and offered great tips for exploring. The location couldn't be better to experience the lovely downtown mall. (We grabbed a delicious, casual dinner at Tonic.) We also walked down to the Riverview Park and around the Woolen Mills area, although that was a little more of a trek. The Inn was quiet, and while we did hear the train go by twice, it was not bothersome (no horns or stopping). The breakfast was delicious, with several fresh-baked breads, and other standard fare - not heavy, but everything we needed - and the fresh-baked cookies were a treat. The parking area was still under construction but the nearby deck wasn't a problem, and the new space will be very nice when completed. We would be glad to stay here again.

Staff was wonderful, rooms were excellent, continental breakfast was varied and enormous, wine and cheese in the afternoon was excellent. Shopping downtown was in walking distance and historical sites and several wineries were a short drive. Parking was under construction but Inn validated parking garage within walking distance and there were a couple spots on the street.

The inn is lovely. Free wine & cheese, etc. But when we stayed everyone in the inn was startled out of their beds by a fire alarm at 5:00 am. Turns out the alarm was installed recently and is defective. My wife could not sleep after, given the adrenaline. The host told us in the morning that the inn owner said "tear it out and replace it, no matter the cost." But when I asked for a refund, they refused. What I most want from an inn is a nice mattress and a good night's sleep. This place does not deliver.

Hello, I aologize that we did not see this sooner. I am the GM of the property and I'm sorry we did not address this differently. As far as I know, all of the guests from that evening were refunded. If you were for some reason overlooked, please reach out to us directly and ask for me, Hollis Cate, by name. Thank You.

Excellent location near some great restaurants (Public and Maya). Enjoyed the gas fireplace in our room. Cramped bathroom. A bit noisy from other guests. Continental breakfast was only okay but it was lovely to eat in the library or out on the porch.
