Came in April down from Baltimore with my Aunt and Uncle. The hotel is perfectly placed in the center of town. Within walking distance of shops and restaurants. We rented a golf cart for $100.00 so my car sat the entire weekend and with gas prices so high that was a blessing. I recommend reserving them when you make your reservations because they only have 6 and they are first come first serve. The hotel offers complimentary beach chairs and towels but it was a little too cold for the beach. They also offer free bikes to use. The people at the desk couldn’t be nicer. John and Pam were very helpful. We are avid card players and they opened the restaurant for us both nights so we could play in comfort. The room is very modern and recently renovated. The large shower head is wonderful. My aunt is a reader and loved the reading light that swiveled next to the bed. They offer a light breakfast that is great for a hectic morning and the local coffee is absolutely delicious. We bought some to take home. We couldn’t be happier with our stay and we will definitely be back.…
My daughter and I came to Cape Charles for a quick getaway and we are so glad to choose this hotel. Jawn was always at the desk to greet us and helped with places to go to. The hotel was clean and had a deck area off our room which was nice. There is also a third floor deck to sit with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down and the town rest. We will be back!
Feel this hotel is too expensive for the area especially this time of year. Nothing is open in this small town unless you are here early (not too early though) in the day. Had to walk down the street to get pizza for the room - no other choices for dinner. Brewery across the street closed at 5pm. Hotel is clean, pretty and has nice amenities except they have an additional charge of $11.95 for that so NOT exactly an included breakfast. We made sure to ride the bikes even though it was cold because of this charge. Front desk guy is happy and helpful.
Location is great. Our room was in need of a refresh and a good cleaning as the carpets were very dirty. There was a tile with a large crack in the bathroom. The walls in the bathroom had spilled liquid on them which I cleaned with my washcloth. The walls in the room itself needed a repaint or stains removed. We received a text the morning of our first day and reported the issue of the dirty carpets. We were not offered another room but were thanked for letting them know. The mattress slept very well but had significant depressions where people had slept in it over time - perhaps time to look at replacing the mattress. The complimentary breakfast was fine and the coffee was good. The staff were always helpful and friendly. The hotel has umbrellas for rainy walks and chairs available to take to the beach which are both very thoughtful. We never saw an elevator so if access is an issue you should request a ground floor room. The decor is nice throughout the hotel. It is the end of the season so perhaps the rooms will receive the attention they need. We had hoped for more, so overall the experience was disappointing.…
Always wanted to stay in Cape Charles after zooming by to and from NC to Ocean City, MD. We spent time here with family to celebrate a birthday. Huge loft room with lots of space and enormous shower. Things to know before you go: They expect you to bring your own coffee or tea bags if you want to make it in your room. (Sugar and cream as well) They seem strict about 3pm check in and if you don’t mention it and pay $50 when you book room it’s non-negotiable to get confirmation. If you are in loft room on ground floor- you must enter by going through lobby to outside hotel. If you are in an upstairs guest room there is no elevator; They charge just under $15 per day for the following: 1) a beach chair ( which you won’t use in 35 mph wind and 50 degrees weather); 2) a bike to ride and 3)“ less than light breakfast” “Breakfast” offers coffee or hot tea in morning. You DO NOT have the ability to pour your own coffee or hot water or even to add cream to your cup. Have to wait for an employee behind a counter to do so. It’s weird- the urn is there in front of you but employee has cup. Oh and if you want milk to cover your Cheerios - you must ask for milk to be poured into your bowl. Stingy feeling here. Very odd. Glassware on shelves in room were dusty and needed a nice rinse. Otherwise the room, linens and floors seemed clean. THERE is NO closet! But place on wall for hanging clothes and coats. It works - just different. General Manager, front desk clerk will send a text to check in with your needs- that was a perk. The Mermaid Factory across the street was a blast where we painted and decorated our own mermaids! Anne, the owner was lovely! Overall the Carolina hospitality we are use to didn’t exist at this time in and around the town😕 at cute shops and eateries. As a whole had a memorable time and celebration. Not rushing back -but glad to have stopped in and saw the most beautiful 🌅sunset I can ever remember.…
I guess we paid for location! Great location - on a main street with shops and restaurants. We requested a dog friendly room - which we got but were not made aware that we needed to bring our own coffee. Had mugs and coffee pot and filters but no coffee. Inquired at desk but were told we had to bring our own in the dog friendly rooms. Other rooms had espresso coffee makers with coffee. Dog friendly rooms had kitchens with refrigerator, dishwasher sink and microwave- but again we were not told to bring dish towels sponges detergent, paper towels etc. For the price I was not impressed- standard amenities. Breakfast consisted of banana, granola and coffee. Room vents needed cleaning and bugs needed to be exterminated. We left a day early.
This was our first time in Cape Charles and couldn't have picked a better place to stay. We were on the 2nd floor overlooking the main street and balcony was roomy with comfortable chairs. Room interior all as advertised and bed was very comfortable.
The room itself was fine and the staff pleasant. The location is right in the heart of the little downtown and a few blocks to the beach. The continental breakfast was less than light. The only offering was yogurt, granola and Cheerios. 50% of the time no fresh fruit at all and The other 50% of the time there were oranges. Absolutely no bread, muffins or other pastries. There was also an amenities fee added to the nightly charge which, to be fair is referenced on the website. For a room costing over two hundred a night, that just seems tacky.
If you are visiting Cape Charles, this is the perfect location to spend the night. Nestled on Mason Street, it is within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the beach. Comfortable, clean, quiet and welcoming. Highly recommend!
The Hotel Cape Charles is a wonderful place to stay in Cape Charles...the best!! The Location and amenities are perfect....bikes, beach chairs and an outdoor shower!! The mural in the courtyard is absolutely incredible! The hotel staff are super helpful and pleasant. The hotel has a lot of charm and character. Can't say anything bad about the place!
