The hotel in this old building on the main street in Cape Charles is amazing! It is totally modern inside. The rooms are lovely and roomy. There are several open seating areas with comfortable couches and chairs outside. Guests can visit with each other there. The hotel also rents golf carts which are the preferred means of transportation in Cape Charles.
This is a great value and a wonderful place to recharge!

We LOVE Hotel Cape Charles! The location is perfect, the staff is accommodating, and most importantly (for us, at least) the hotel is one of the cleanest hotels we have had the pleasure of staying. Everything is tastefully decorated and modern. The whole hotel felt very relaxed and spa-like. It even has beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas for guests to use as well as outdoor showers to use after a visit to the beach. Also, golf carts can be rented for $50/day, which is very reasonably priced. We didn’t take advantage of the golf carts but will the next time we come back. We will definitely highly recommend Hotel Cape Charles to our friends and family and will only stay here when in Cape Charles.

Thank you Hotel Cape Charles for being pet friendly! Wonderful overnight stay with my son and dog. We stayed in Room 21 which is a LARGE garden loft with two queen beds. When we checked in, as soon as we entered the room I received a text to make sure everything was fine. I have stayed in 4 & 5 star hotels around the US and England and never had this attention to detail. Great experience! The room was very clean and the kitchen was stocked with utensils, glasses, plates, and cookware. The refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher would have been put to good use if we would have been staying longer. I will be back this fall! Note that due to the dastardly coronavirus, there is an additional $14.95 charge for cleaning (it’s worth it). There is also a $50 pet fee (it’s worth it too).

This is a very clean and comfortable boutique hotel in the middle of charming Cape Charles. We had a room looking over Mason St, but without a balcony, and our adult kids had a room looking over the back courtyard. Both rooms were spotlessly clean and all hotel staff were consistent in wearing masks and practicing social distancing guidelines.

The building is nicely renovated with exposed old brick and a hip, updated vibe. There are stairs to access the rooms and no elevator so it’s not appropriate for people with limited mobility.

They provide high end toiletries in the bathrooms. The numerous, complementary beach chairs and towels were a great convenience and were fresh and clean everyday.

Jawn and staff are very friendly and provide Ritz Carleton level service.

The hotel is very modern and clean. The rooms have a lot of neat features such as a chrome stick type device for streaming and watching movies along with various options on the tv. It is located in the main area of Cape Charles. Ms. Pat at the front desk is fantastic!! She is very professional, friendly and helpful. She helped us with various dining options and any questions we had with the area. There are several restaurants and stores in walking distance from the hotel. The beach is not far I believe not sure how walkable it is but I saw the signs but I imagine no more than a 10 minute walk tops.

Location is great. Our room was in need of a refresh and a good cleaning as the carpets were very dirty. There was a tile with a large crack in the bathroom. The walls in the bathroom had spilled liquid on them which I cleaned with my washcloth. The walls in the room itself needed a repaint or stains removed. We received a text the morning of our first day and reported the issue of the dirty carpets. We were not offered another room but were thanked for letting them know. The mattress slept very well but had significant depressions where people had slept in it over time - perhaps time to look at replacing the mattress. The complimentary breakfast was fine and the coffee was good. The staff were always helpful and friendly. The hotel has umbrellas for rainy walks and chairs available to take to the beach which are both very thoughtful. We never saw an elevator so if access is an issue you should request a ground floor room. The decor is nice throughout the hotel. It is the end of the season so perhaps the rooms will receive the attention they need. We had hoped for more, so overall the experience was disappointing.

Very sorry that we did not meet your expectations. You hit the nail on the head. It is the end of the season, and as a small, seasonal property we cannot remove rooms from service during the year to touch up. We do a refresh/repaint every off season-and this year new carpets are being installed in most rooms. I hope you have a chance to visit up again and give us another opportunity to meet your expectations.

We booked a stay to Cape Charles at the last minute and were lucky enough to find space to accommodate our family at Hotel Cape Charles. The property is in the perfect location with parking along the street or adjacent lot (free). We arrived quite early but were still able to use the hotel beach chairs and towels. This is a fantastic amenity and lightened our packing load. It's a short walk to the beach, but there is plenty of parking along the edge of the dunes if you prefer to drive down. The charming town has options for everyone; from eateries, to bakeries, a distillery, shopping, plenty of ice cream choices and a candy store.

Our room was surprisingly large (Queen Loft). We appreciated the extra space and the separate TV/kitchen area was useful for when our kids went to bed. The shared courtyard terrace is very nice (the weather was a bit windy so we didn't get to enjoy it, unfortunately). A light breakfast of fruit/yogurt/granola/oatmeal is available with coffee & juice. We didn't utilize the bikes or rent a golf cart but found them to be a nice touch the hotel offered.

We only stayed one night, so we were extra appreciative that Jawn allowed us to use the beach chairs, towels and outdoor shower after checking out. We really enjoyed our first visit to Cape Charles and hope to return for longer next time.

Nice hotel however make sure you get a street view! Very disappointed in the “Premium Courtyard King” room we are in. I don’t believe we can call this view a courtyard view as we are looking directly at the roof of a building and electrical units and tar paper. There is no courtyard to be seen. There is no indication on the website or when speaking with front desk that we would have a view of a roof and not the courtyard as advertised and paid for. The sofa in the room is filthy and has several dark spots so much so that we are not comfortable sitting on. Had I known this was the balcony view I would have chosen a street view or really any other room. I feel like we were taken advantage of and now we have no choice but to stay in this room due to the occupancy of this hotel and most others in the area. I can’t imagine this is the first time you have had to answer to this situation. I really wish the hotel had been more up front with the actual view. The room itself is nice sized but the room is not the only part of what I look for when I make reservations. I enjoy a balcony with a view. In this case I was led to believe I would have a view of a courtyard. Not so.

We never did hear from the management other than to have the front desk clerk pass us the message that we "are welcome to check out early". The front desk clerk was kind and gracious and heard my concerns. She did bring a bottle of wine. That was a nice gesture.

Hotel Cape Charles Hotel is a small boutique Hotel in the heart of a cozy Virginia eastern shore destination. The room was sizeable, king bed, modern large bathroom and well finished with a sleek old revitalized industrial look. High ceilings, wood floors, huge windows, and exposed brick made this room very appealing. The staff was very professional, pleasant and helpful.

We stayed at Hotel Cape Charles for a weekend getaway. The hotel is conveniently situated in the quaint town of Cape Charles with easy access to the main street shops and restaurants. The staff was polite, attentive and helpful. The hotel was clean overall, but minimalist with a modern decor and did not have many amenities nor a restaurant. This was our first time staying at the hotel, so I was expecting a larger, brighter room and more amenities for the fairly steep price we paid for the room. As other reviews have stated, I was annoyed with the lack of fitted sheets for the bed. At one point I discovered I wasn't sleeping between the sheets, but instead on the mattress pad, which I am concerned had not been laundered; fitted sheets would have prevented this and should not be a difficult thing to provide. The mattress was also very firm and the pillows too full, so I woke up each morning stiff. The air conditioner also wasn't operating correctly and our room was a solid 10 degrees hotter than the hallway outside, which made it difficult to sleep; leaving the back door open was not an option (as other guests could have had access to our room). I wish there was a way to give a half star, as I would give this 3.5, rather than 3...but not quite a 4.
