I looked for a place to stop after a long days drive. Very clean, beautiful views, great breakfast and wonderful conversation. Bed was super comfy! Thank you Darlene and Dave. I will be back! Kim Coleman

We really enjoyed our stay. Darlene, husband and family were very pleasant and accommodating. We enjoyed the country atmosphere. We enjoyed the fire pit and all the animals as well as the chickens. Not far from Mt. Pilot and Mt.Airy. We also visited the nearby wineries.

We booked our stay weeks in advance with another couple to hike the area. Darlene was very helpful with information about area and friendly. My review is not based on the friendliness of our host but rather wether this stay met expectations set in their site and it didn’t. Far from. You expect a BnB to be clean, have comfortable beds, and offer a good breakfast. Especially when the closest place to eat is 40 min away and your plan is to hike all afternoon before your next meal. We are Seniors and their advertised breakfast was very important factor in our decision to lodge here. All I can say is it was clean and they were friendly, and the first day we got an ok breakfast. Other than that it was HORRIBLE. First our room. The closet was packed with stuff, so much so you couldn’t hang up a single item. There was one double hook to hang my blouses on. But, that is minor… this is not… Our king bed’s topper was taken out of our room while we were away at dinner. We could tell the bed covering was not the same and my dressing robe I left on the bed had been hung up over my blouses. I wouldn’t have done that as it was a bit damp after my shower. And questioned as I was locking the door if I should hang it on the chair, but was in a hurry. The bed wasn’t made like a “pull down” it was just not the same way we left it. We noticed but didn’t think much of it till we tried to sleep in it. Our second night was HORRIBLE. We were awake all night. ALL NIGHT. We had hiked nearly 7 miles of the Blue Ridge Rocky Knob and Castle George that day and this was not a surprise you spring on guests. You don’t enter their locked room and remove their bed topper for another guest, assuming they won’t mind. We knew another guest checked in due to an auto issues while we had been away at dinner and that he had back issues (a massage gun was out for his use earlier. ) We knew that’s where the topper went. So after we packed and just prior to eating we went to the other room to check the bed and verify our suspicions and found a king topper draped over the queen bed (@5/6 “ nearly on each side when we pulled back the bottom sheets …our room had the only king bed) … “yes, way!” Our friends came into the room and saw the king topper too, took one look at us and knew we had had an awful night of sleep and asked what we were going to do? We decided we wouldn’t address the matter until we cooled down and after breakfast. We didn’t want to ruin breakfast for our dear friends traveling with us so we planned to discuss it with our hosts after we ate and in private. So on to “breakfast” (if you could call it that) it was soo bad; a small dry biscuit with one thin slice of dry country ham, no condiments, no egg, no cheese … nothing but a dry biscuit, a TINY glass of juice and 3 cut up strawberries. The men literally said we need more food than this (they have a dozen chickens !! Who ate better than us !) So, Darlene made an extra egg for them but was not very hospitably. We should have spoken out as soon as we came down because we couldn’t have ruined that breakfast it was awful all on its own. And our hosts literally disappeared after breakfast. Yes, they hid. UNBELIEVABLE. Never said “good -bye”, asked how our stay was (they knew) or thanked us for staying with them. We’ve been to numerous BnB’s and this was our worst experience ever. We waited to give an account as we felt sorry for our hostess who had been battling Cancer and had undergone serious surgeries and just reopened. But we felt they owe it to their guests to provide a decent bed and breakfast. If Darlene can’t cook, then Dave needs to step up and step in if they’re going to promote a great bed and breakfast and take peoples money. We toughed it out and hiked Stone Mt. as planned; and although our BnB lodging failed us, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinners at Old North State Winery in Mt. Airy, and LOVED our Jolo Winery outside Pilot Mt. We do wish Darlene and Dave well and will pray for Darlene’s recovery.

Quiet, peaceful, and chickens! Very peaceful location with a great view, winding roads, and a delicious breakfast. The room and bathroom were clean and the bed was very comfortable. Sitting on the porch was very relaxing, and we really enjoyed watching the chickens play outside. Thank you for a wonderful visit

We went up for the night just to getaway. If you're looking to get away this is the place, accommodations were very nice, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. This is a quiet place way off the beaten path. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating. The location is great, between Mt. Airy and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Be advised, you will lose cell signal, our route took us up through Mt. Airy, google maps got us there but there are some questionable road signage so you may want a printed map.

We were a group of seven including three kids. We were looking to stay amongst nature and we were not disappointed. The house is different from normal commercial Bnb’s and feels more like staying at someone’s private home. The host was very friendly and took us on a tour of a nearby orchard, since the kids wanted to see it. There are 4 dogs, but they are locked away unless the guests do not mind animals. They were super friendly with the kids. Breakfast was fine with omelettes and bread with tea and coffee. all in all, a very homely experience.

Very nice small B&B. Host very freindly. Good breakfast. No phone connection but they have Wi-Fi. Be prepared for long ride on dirt road from the Ridge and at least 20 minutes to the nearest place to have dinner.

What a great night's sleep with an outrageously comfortable bed and no traffic noise all night. It was a beautiful 12 mile scenic drive from the interstate and you end up at a very peaceful, relaxing place. David and Darlene are lovely hosts - friendly, welcoming and interesting. Breakfast was wonderful, they have friendly dogs and a very pretty garden space with a pond, sunflowers and if you are lucky you might even might see a flying squirrel after dark. We look forward to our next visit here.

Super cute small B&B (only 3 or 4 rooms). Host/hostess very, very friendly and nice. You must be a dog lover to stay here as their cute pups are in and out of the house (but very well-behaved). It's located very close to the Fancy Gap parkway entrance, but be sure to drive in from Hwy 52/Fancy Gap highway rather than the GPS directions that take you on some back roads. The room we stayed in had a bath in the hall but it was still very private and the bed was SO comfortable. We slept like babies!
