When searching for a place to vacation without the kids, my wife and I prefer to slow things down and enjoy the finer elements of life, which is exactly what led us to The 1804 Inn of Barboursville Vineyards. I actually stumbled on this gem while browsing through a listing of small towns in Virginia, and once I started researching... More

We stayed in one of the cottages at the 1804 Inn. It was charming and peaceful. A little strange check in and check out experience, but all worked out well. We enjoyed the room and deck out back under the trees overlooking a farm. So relaxing. There is no internet or TV, but we survived. The breakfast provided was nice.... More

We spent a weekend at the Sangiovese Cottage, surrounded by beautiful fields and flowers. The cottage has a private balcony where we often saw the local cows and horses. The accommodations were fine, the breakfast quiche and locally cured bacon delicious, and the walks along the vineyards, historic ruins, and grounds were relaxing and enjoyable. Access to the Barboursville winery... More

Our stay at the 1804 Inn was short, but enjoyable and fairly unique. We stayed in the Moscato Suite in the Blue Run Cottage and arrived late, so the staff left a key for us at the front door. The Cottage itself is a bit down the road from the main building, and the drive there at night was fun... More

We had been told of this winery by the owner of a well known Providence, RI restaurant and in researching the Barboursville Winery we were happy to see that they also had some rooms in the Inn itself and a few cottages. Since we were driving back home from a trip to Myrtle Beach, we decided to make this out... More

We found the keys to our rooms in an envelope stuck under the knocker on the Inn's door. What a great way to get started. This spoke of trust, of leaving the backdoor open when you go out, that all neighbors are friends and all friends are neighbors. We went the short distance to the Vineyard Cottage and selected the... I drove in wanting lunch. The dining room was booked but the maître d'hôtel was most helpful despite being very busy. I went to the Tasting Room which was extremely busy and the sound level was torture with echoes of so many people enjoying visits with wine tasting. On to the Library which was quiet and has a lovely view.... More

The Inn is a very peaceful and beautiful place to stay. It is quite historic and kept wonderfully clean. The ladies running it were very friendly. Pretty any time of year and an excellent restaurant on the premises to compliment the included breakfast.

My husband treated me to an overnight stay at Barboursville for Valentine's Day on the advice of a friend and it surpassed both of our expectations. Cozy warm cottage to ourselves with a fire laid for our arrival and chilling bottle if wine with cheese and fruit, magical setting in the foothills of the mountains on a property whose main... More

We visited right after New years Day and had advance notice that the Palladio restaurant was going to be closed during our stay. So no report on the restaurant. Right from the very first phone call I knew that this was going to be done right. After an extensive look at all the accommodations on the 1804 website I had... More
