#1 of 4 B&Bs / Inns in Windsor
Travelers' Choice
The Windsor Mansion Inn, originally Juniper Hill Farm, sits high on its namesake hill within the town limits of the historic hamlet of Windsor, Vermont. The inn’s distinguished history dates back to the 1800’s and started with the Evart family. Since 1902, this gracious colonial revival home has looked over the expansive views of Lake Runnemede, the Cornish Hills, and Mount Ascutney; welcoming countless distinguished guests, including Presidents Roosevelt and President Wilson. The storied mansion is perched on 14 acres of the private estate and has operated as an Inn since 1944. Recently purchased in 2015, Winsor Mansion Inn has undergone a million dollar restoration and renovation project to return the historical property back to its original glory. The Inn is on schedule for a soft opening for reservations the first weekend in June 2016, offering 17 guest accommodations including standard, deluxe, and presidential bedrooms all with their own private baths. Over the next four months the property will proceed to restore the properties exclusive tavern, gourmet kitchen, and the addition of three guest accommodations never before existing at the historical mansion. Although large in scale the properties restorations have truly helped to embody its original design to be warm, inviting, and true to all things Vermont. The Windsor Mansion Inn’s comfortable lounge areas and extensive lawns with gardens are the perfect setting for a relaxing get away or venue for a memorable event. The mansion features three locations for events, including an expansive deck and patio, perfect for both open air or tented events; offering breathtaking views of the Connecticut River Valley and architectural facades that are a perfect backdrop for memorable events and photos to last a lifetime. Our historical mansion is one of the few venues in the area that has the ability to host ceremonies, cocktail parties, receptions, and lodging all at one beautiful location. This 19th century family summer cottage turned Inn is centrally located to the famed Cornish Windsor Bridge, the longest antique covered bridge in North America, as well as the Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site. Windsor Mansion is also pleased to be just 3 miles from the newly developed Artisan Park, which consists of Harpoon Brewery, Silo Distillery, Simon Pearce, and more! Only 19 miles to Dartmouth College and 16 miles to Woodstock, Vermont, Windsor Mansion Inn is centrally located to all the best of the Upper Valley and New England. The newly revived Mansion and its ownership are pleased to carry on the famed gentile hospitality and elegant entertaining that was once desired by patrons throughout its history. Today guests can experience the home as it was originally intended with over 6,000 square feet of common space and an additional 5,000 square feet of manicured grounds designed for the perfect Vermont getaway!

We were greeted by Andy who was a fantastic host, waiter and bartender. He is a true gentleman and people person. We chatted with him on several occasions throughout our stay over Christmas weekend. Unfortunately, we were not able to get out to explore the grounds and trails due to sleet and icy conditions. However, our room, was cozy, comfortable with a wonderful view and just what we needed to get away, relax and recharge. Andy is gracious with his time and didn’t make us feel rushed or imposing in any way, he would politely remind others of the mask policy without sounding harsh. We learned the history of the inn and the various rooms as well as some history about the area. Breakfast was delicious, definitely upgrade to hot breakfast. It’s just enough without leaving you neither hungry or stuffed! The Mansion is beautiful and full of character and charm. We will be back in the spring for another recharging weekend. Highly recommended!

This place is wonderful! The staff were SO friendly and gave us great tips about the area. They also told us about the history of the building since we inquired. The staff was also very safe and always had masks on. The room was super clean and cozy. We even had a great view!

I occasionally go to VT for business and found the Windsor mansion on an app I use to book hotels. The mansion had great reviews and was very reasonable! I was not disappointed! Andy the host could not have been nicer or more accommodating. I had a wonderful meal, the room was very comfortable and warm! I will certainly go back and have already recommended! As a side note it showed and Andy cleared the snow off my car! Thank you!

This is a lovely mansion [with great history] on a hill in Vermont. It has a welcoming, knowledgeable and accommodating host, cozy rooms and good breakfasts. We had the standard continental breakfast our first morning, consisting of oatmeal with bananas, a small ramekin of yogurt with blueberries and several small chocolate croissants. We upgraded the second morning and were treated to a delicious baked French toast and local sausages; orange juice was standard with each meal. An extra touch that made me very happy - and a bit relieved - was that they had a makeup remover pad and a dark washcloth in the bathroom! (I usually bring my own washcloth, so as not to mess up the typical white ones in most hotels, but I had neglected to put it in my suitcase so didn't have it with me.) Their COVID protocols required masks to be worn outside of our guest room, hands to be sanitized prior to using the coffee station and they limited seating in dining areas to allow for distancing. It was a perfect home base to explore the area during a getaway weekend. I hope to return soon!
