A true gem located in the heart of all things Vermont. Gruberg Haus is truly unique. This Austrian chalet blends old rustic with modern rock & roll Americana perfectly. From the warm welcoming vibe of the innkeepers and guests, to the feel-at-home ambience, booking a stay at Grunberg Haus will make you feel like the luckiest travelers ever. Plan a stay and see why nearly half of all Grunberg Haus guests are return guests. Fun loving human & dog travelers need only apply. No curmudgeons please.

My wife and I visited the Grunberg Haus for two nights during the quiet season in Vermont. The location was ideal for us as we wanted to visit the Burlington and Stowe areas. The property is striking...very cool style outside and in. We especially loved all of the collectibles, snowboards, and other odds and ends along the walls and ceilings! The downstairs shared space is very open and welcoming. The social areas are cozy with ambient music playing and TVs for watching whatever we wanted to. The owner Duane is kind of like the space he runs: welcoming, open, and cool. He engaged with us and made sure we had everything we needed. We also spent lots of time with Neko, one of the most unique dogs, we've ever seen! She's a sweetie. We had two home-cooked breakfasts, both delicious. Duane and his wife use local ingredients, which is a nice touch. So eggs, sausage, maple syrup, and more - all from Vermont. If we ever visit Vermont again, we will absolutely stay at Grunberg Haus.

Property's Favorite Review
We stayed at this adorable place a family of 5 (2 parents and 3 kids 16 - 21) last week for 3 nights. Although it looked super cool on their site and reviews, the real thing by far surpasses all expectations! The design is a mix of retro, snowboard, rock and roll - with beautiful leather and wood decor and a fun surprise in every corner - with Apple TV in 3 nice living rooms, a collection of vinyl records to die for, a pool table and a collection of fun games. Lucky for us we had bad weather and had the joy if hanging out in the INN all day. My teenage kids said its the BEST place they ever stayed at - and this coming from critical teenage kids who have been to lots of beautiful places - is pretty amazing!!!! Oh, and the breakfast every morning was delicious - always wiht a new dish each day, and cakes and bagels and juices available all day. What a treat!!! The owners Duane and Lea are super nice, fabulous and talented and make sure not to miss the store - thier branded shirts and hats are totally cool!

This is my third visit to Grunberg Haus and although quiet during my weekday evenings, was quite enjoyable. Homemade warm breakfast is always Vermont delicious and filling! Duane and Leigh, the Inn keepers, are as friendly as you could imagine. When the Haus has visitors, they too are friendly enjoying the laid back atmosphere, shooting pool or hanging by the fire. Grunberg is a few miles outside of Waterbury, a cute town with several dining options. Stowe Mountain Resort is about a 25 minutes drive. This is your go to place.

We had the best stay at the Grunber Haus Inn. We came for a wedding and had more fun at the Inn than the wedding! Everyone made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. New friends were made instantly. Sledding was fantastic! You must stay here if you like people, music and good times. Plenty of space to chill if you are looking for some quiet time, too. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Lovely breakfast in the am as well. We will be back!

Where to begin, everything is just awesome sauce at Grunberg Haus. We were warmly welcomed in the parking lot by Neko, the Alaskan Malamute and once inside, the warm reception continued with innkeeper extraordinaire, Duane. Duane gave us a tour of the main house and all its wonderful eye candy. From there Neko took over and escorted us up to our well appointment cabin up a small path. We slept so great on the king size bed and loved the decor and having a record player in the room with a nice selection of vinyl. The cabin had everything we could want including a mini fridge, microwave, deck chairs & fireplace. We had a great time at breakfast where Duane & Leah provided us with a super tasty hot breakfast each morning and Duane spun some tunes throughout. On our second night, we hung out a bit in the main house with a couple of cocktails we brought with us and had a blast playing a little pool while surrounded by more eye candy. I had high hopes when I discovered the Inn online and it exceeded those hopes. We cannot wait to return and chill some more at this wonderful place. Thank you Duane & Leah for running such an amazing inn!

We stayed in Cabin 1. The hike up the hill is short and not a problem. We really enjoyed the wood burning stove that came fully supplied with wood, kindling and instructions. The cabin was also equipped with a record player and a great selection of records. The view across the valley is great. The innkeepers were wonderful, inviting and fun. The inn and cabins have are almost like an art gallery for a really cool snowboard and skateboard collection.

We asked the owner, Dwayne, how people might describe his place. Quirky? Kitschy? Museum? Any of those words could be used to explain this place. It is 100% unique and SO fabulous. You could literally spend hours examining all of the bits and bobs on the walls, ceilings, windowsills and surface tops. There are books everywhere, comfy chairs & sofas, records and record players, and gorgeous views from the breakfast room. Our room in Smuggler's Notch had a comfy bed, cozy couch & chair, faux fireplace, and terrific shower. Breakfast was delicious. The location was great for exploring the Stowe area without having to deal with Stowe traffic each night. Only suggestion would be more horizontal shelving in the bathroom for personal storage, and extra lighting in the living area of the suite. Treat yourselves to a unique lodging experience and stay here! (Be prepared for stairs)

A grand experience led by two gracious hosts. It's always a good thing when one feels smarter for where they have chosen to stay while vacationing. The picnic style breakfast was fun. Not only was the food exceptional but it forces you to say hi to your fellow guests. This led to many wonderful conversations and laughs with people you would otherwise never have known. Just a great way to start your Vermont day of adventure. The place is just comfy as could be. Thank you Duane and Leah!
