We spent two nights at the Grunberg Haus. We were having our house insulated and had to be out because of fumes. We wanted somewhere nearby that was dog friendly. We chose the Grunberg Haus because it looked like it would be fun and relaxing. It did not disappoint. Unfortunately, the day before our stay, our dog, Izzy, had to have elbow surgery. Duane, our host was very accommodating. He suggested we take a first floor room, instead of the second floor one we had reserved, so Izzy would not have to climb the stairs. My husband normally likes his privacy, but he felt right at home here. He enjoyed playing with Neko (the gentle inn malamute) and June ( the cutest long haired dacshund ) and chatting with Duane. The three cozy sitting rooms provided lots of options with tv’s available in each of them. The décor is funky and woodsy with something interesting at every turn. There is always good music playing. And although neither of us are very good at it, we enjoyed a game of pool on the beautiful table in the pool room. There was a customer refrigerator and microwave which came in handy for some of our meals because dining out with a dog can be difficult. Leah’s breakfast was plentiful and delicious. And there was always some yummy cinnamon bread out to snack on. Our bed was comfortable and the linens were cozy. On Duane’s suggestion, we visited some local waterfalls which were beautiful and not far from the road. The Grunberg Haus was a wonderful home away from home.

My girlfriend and I had the opportunity to stay with Duane and Leah at the Grunberg Haus the last few days of September. We came to town with a list of all the things we wanted to see in the area. The list quickly fell to the wayside and we rarely left the property. Duane and Leah have paid so close attention to detail. It's the first time in my life (53-years-old) that I wasn't ready to leave a Bed & Breakfast. I could have easily stayed through next Spring !!! The website description of the property is spot on. That is not always the case. Not a week goes by that I don't think of what a wonderful trip this was for my girlfriend and I. We live in Austin, Texas. Getting out of the heat and feeling so at home at the Grunberg Haus will truly make us repeat customers for years to come.

Duane and Leah are enthusiastic hosts who endeavor to create a convivial environment and care about their guests’ comfort. Nice place to hang out to engage or simply relax between your own activities. We enjoyed visiting with the host, dogs (Neko & June-bug) and the other guests. Very welcoming atmosphere. Our room was very comfortable. The food was excellent - breakfast is included in the price. We would stay here again and definitely recommend it to others.

To start the place is unique, like stepping into a chalet in Europe. Warm, quirky decorated rooms, little nooks to relax. Large gathering room central to the Haus with a pretty fireplace, large comfortable couch, long tables to play games, pool table and a wall of windows. The place is immaculate. The guest rooms are all similar but decorated differently in woodsy motif, most with a door and a screen door that opens onto a wraparound balcony. The hosts are over the top accommodating- they built us a fire in the fire pit and provided smores fixins. Duane quietly converses with the guests, and is truly involved with making sure everything is perfect. The breakfast is delicious and different every morning- must have the fruit parfaits and Leah's pumpkin/Cinnamon bread. This was our second visit and can't wait to return. Duane and Leah - thank you for another wonderful visit!

We had a delightful two-night stay at the Grunberg Haus. The website very accurately describes the inn and rooms. The owners have a big, beautiful, and friendly dog who greeted us. We stayed in the Green Mountain room which has a balcony. A yummy breakfast was served at a common table that encouraged interacting with other guests. We listened to some of the vinyl records in our room while sitting in front of the gas fireplace. The setting is beautiful in the woods and was a welcome relief from busy Stowe. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. We highly recommend the inn!
