My husband and I have always been fans of the PItcher Inn and have spent a number of special dinners and weekends there. This summer when we were forced to downsize our daughter's wedding, we decided it was the perfect place to host a small group of family and friends for a very special and memorable wedding weekend.

The Inn was able to accommodate our whole wedding party in style and we had the entire property and staff to ourselves throughout the celebration.  They were very attentive to our needs beginning with letting the wedding party check in early to prepare, to the moment our guests arrived and were greeted with cold drinks in the lobby and snacks in their rooms.

They arranged the ceremony seating and decorated the dining tables beautifully outside and directed all the moving pieces like distributing the flowers to the wedding party, setting up the musicians and sound, and getting us all lined up and ready to go.  With very little notice they even helped us find and set up a live stream Zoom of the wedding for the many guests we could not include in person.

The grounds were beautiful. A new general manager was just starting that weekend and personally took it upon herself to plant flowers in all the planters outside which made it look lovely. After dinner, the backyard was transformed into our outdoor dance floor with some audio hookups. We took full advantage of the firepit and patio outside the game room for an after party with more yummy snacks from the kitchen.

Our friends were completely blown away by the Inn from its location in the tiny picturesque hamlet of Warren, to the beautiful garden setting by the brook, the wonderful food that we were served, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, and the comfort and whimsy of each of their rooms and the fabulous baths and steam showers.

Despite all the heartache that Covid has thrown at us this year, the Pitcher Inn and its staff made our daughter's wedding weekend a very special and memorable occasion and we thank them for that.

This is a lovely little Inn in a beautiful spot in the Mad River Valley in Vermont. It is close to Sugarbush Mountain, wonderful hiking trails and borders the River in a quaint little town. It's a peaceful retreat with outstanding food and is a very warm and welcoming place. The staff is attentive and warm, the rooms spotless, and across the street and the Warren Store (also owned by the Inn) and at breakfast at the Inn you will find some of the best baked goods ever! I'm drooling thinking about the warm chocolate croissant I ate there when I first arrived in town. The Inn has a terrific bar that opens up right onto the River and as almost every review of this hotel mentions and it's worth saying a second time here -- truly outstanding food. I look forward to returning and want to give a special shout out to Tracey, the unbelievably thoughtful and excellent manager of the Inn and Darci the concierge. They made my stay incredibly enjoyable, made great recommendations and made me feel genuinely welcome.

Our family of 5 had the pleasure of staying at the Inn over the Thanksgiving holiday this year. It’s a special place which balances a relaxed atmosphere with a luxury experience. It was our 3rd visit to the Pitcher Inn, and our favorite. Warren is a magical town with lots to offer in terms of atmosphere. We were concerned that the pandemic would negatively impact our ability to enjoy the property, but found that the staff were able to safely facilitate dining and lodging in ways which felt safe, luxurious and pleasant. We had wonderful breakfasts and lovely dinners, enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and many wooded walks in the neighboring area with our dog who was also welcomed. My only feedback would be the quality of the bedding—pillows especially could use a refresh, and the coffee which was often warm, thick and bitter. Both categories of bedding and coffee I believe could be improved (which are of significant importance to me admittedly). We stayed in the Hayloft which was a little small for us and does not have a working fireplace, if both suites were available we would have enjoyed both for a more relaxing experience, without room for a roll away, our toddler needed to sleep with us which wasn’t ideal. Overall, I couldn’t recommend this Inn more highly, the staff and management are absolutely warm and caring and the dining is special. We look forward to returning again soon and hope to share it with friends for a private post pandemic celebration. Additionally, I would recommend this venue for a wedding or special event. My sense is that the new ownership will only improve this Vermont jewel. We are grateful!

I don't normally like to leave bad reviews because I know how important reviews are for businesses large and small. However, I made the mistake of ignoring a few bad reviews and decided to spend my pandemic honeymoon at the Pitcher Inn.

The front of house staff was completely and utterly incompetent from the moment we arrived. We spent over $4000 at this hotel for a mini honeymoon and the below will be our memory of our honeymoon forever. From the staff not being able to provide directions, to not knowing what services they even could provide, to saying we would have to just get by on their great personalities (they weren't great) to promising us one thing and then needing to be reminded several times to deliver on that promise (something as small as champagne glasses in our room or please unbox the flowers that arrive today and put them in a vase for us upon our return (instead it was left in the box and put with our suitcases)). Further, on a honeymoon often hotels do something for their honeymooners and we didn't expect anything, but we were treated so poorly and repeatedly faced roadblocks when we needed support from the staff. Frankly, this was unacceptable.

None of the rooms had working fireplaces as was advertised (and one of the main reasons we chose the hotel), there were no services that you would expect in a fine hotel. Even during a pandemic, there could have been more effort done to make the immense and extravagant price tag of this hotel somewhat more worth it. The only thing that was worth the money here was the private dinner in the wine cellar, though, even that was a bit uninspired and lacked exciting twists or novel combinations, but I highly doubt that was the chef's fault or the server's fault, both of whom were fantastic.

I will not be returning and I will recommend that no one go to this place until there is a complete changeover in management from top to bottom. I hope this is helpful for others of you out there wondering if this once charming hotel is worth the price tag.

Our experience was more in line with the recent negative reviews. I don’t know if it’s the new (and absentee?) ownership, or just a general decline in service and substance. I had always had this on my list as an inn I wanted to visit, but was somewhat shocked by the overall casual attitude toward service (Relais and Chateaux, really?). We were on the third floor. We are in our seventies, and no one offered or seemed available to help carry our bags. The woman at the front desk was pleasant enough but not particularly helpful. We were informed that our fireplace could not be used as it had not passed inspection (although it was one of the reasons that room had appealed to us). There would be no early coffee available and no coffee amenities in the room although one of us often wakes between 5-6 am. At breakfast, one would expect run of the menu. But there were 4 tight choices and we’re asked to choose “one”. Water is poured but orange juice is not offered and wasn’t visible on any of the guests’ tables. On the second day I asked if any was available, and did receive a glass of cold, fresh-squeezed, but why wouldn’t it be offered? The breakfast is included although guests are presented with a paper bill showing $0 due, but with a line for a tip. What was the $150+ service charge added to our $1250 tab (for two nights) for? Not apparent in any way. And by the way, breakfast was fine, but in no way exceptional.

The rooms are unique, whimsical and fun with luxurious touches. But there was certainly no discount for the diminished service and amenities due to Covid (understandably closed bar and second restaurant) or just not caring like they used to. Rating is poor...not for the rooms, but for the value and the attitude.

When our original wedding venue closed for the summer due to COVID-19, we were forced to reimagine (and drastically downsize) an event we had spent over a year planning. From the very first conversation with The Pitcher Inn, the staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating. We worked with the on-site wedding planner to pull off the most magical night and wedding of my dreams in less than 2 months.

Every detail was addressed prior to the big day so that when it arrived I didn't have to think about a thing. All of our guests spent the night and enjoyed the opportunity to explore the unique design of each room. The backyard was completely transformed by the staff into something I can only describe as whimsical. The servers were simultaneously inconspicuous and always there if you needed anything. During the course of our visit the entire staff strictly followed COVID protocols making us and our guests feel safe.

We look forward to returning for future wedding anniversaries to come!

AVOID this place. Definitely not Relais Châteaux standards. More of a 2 star bed and breakfast.

Rooms: There was sewage back flow in the bathroom sink since the day we checked in. Multiple times a day sewage would back flow into the sink and accumulate there since the sink was clogged. We complained to the inn keeper and she said she had it looked into and since the whole sink had to be replaced there was nothing she could do for the length of our stay. We came back every evening to a sink full of sewage and bath towels that were covered with sewage. Every morning we woke to a sink full of sewage.

The shower was moldy, the flush was broken and overall cleanliness in the room and housekeeping left a lot to be desired. For 3 days none of the toiletries were restocked nor was the floor cleaned.

Food: The food in the restaurant was equally bad. Breakfast scrambled Eggs were slimy and undercooked, waffles were worst than frozen. Dinner wasn’t anything great and we actually cancelled the subsequent dinner reservations we had after our first nights dinner.

I’ve previously stayed at multiple Relais & Châteaux locations and they were all wonderful experiences and I chose The Pitcher Inn solely on the Relais & Châteaux brand name. However my experience at The Pitcher Inn was extremely disappointing in every aspect and there was absolutely nothing that made our stay marginally better.

Relais & Chateaux shouldn’t have their name associated with this place.

Stay somewhere else in VT. Don’t ruin your vacation by staying here.

We had dinner reservations at Tracks, the bistro lounge downstairs from the restaurant. Despite a busy weekend evening, we were seated promptly. The ambience was excellent, warm and cozy. The service was excellent. Betsy was very attentive, knowledgeable and polite. The food, however was a disappointment. My dish was the flank steak which I can make better at home. The "Relais Chateaux" label should be know for its cuisine, however, our experience was a disappointment. The Pitcher Inn itself seems to cater to the very wealthy and those more interested in status. That being said, we would probably return to Tracks for just a cocktail some evening.

This is a beautiful property in an interesting location but..
Covid has created terrible problems for the industry but we were still shocked that our $600 rooms were not made up and we were not told that we needed to request it.
Management doesn't have its act together. We did not eat there so cannot comment on the food.

It's been two years since we've traveled (for the most part)...Covid kept us at home, being VERY careful. With numbers declining, we decided to return to the Pitcher Inn and were not disappointed (except for the increase in rates since our last visit which seemed to have doubled). We stayed in Arthur which faced Main Street and allowed us to enjoy the lights on Main Street and the comings and goings of the Warren General Store. Accommodations were lovely. Despite the weather, we were able to enjoy the nicely appointed porch/balcony. Loved the lighting of the rooms with dimmers and "all on" and "all off" switches. The bathroom was divine with the soaking tub and steam shower. Breakfasts exceeded expectation, even today when (during Lent) we couldn't have meat, the kitchen accommodated us with an omelet loaded with veggies! Heather was great in guiding us through the menu as well as plans for the day. Last night's dinner at tracks was delicious and intimate in the little nook...Betsey couldn't have been more helpful and/or fun! Highly recommend the Pitcher Inn to anyone looking to slow it down, get pampered, and truly appreciate what Vermont is all about.
