I don't normally like to leave bad reviews because I know how important reviews are for businesses large and small. However, I made the mistake of ignoring a few bad reviews and decided to spend my pandemic honeymoon at the Pitcher Inn. The front of house staff was completely and utterly incompetent from the moment we arrived. We spent over $4000 at this hotel for a mini honeymoon and the below will be our memory of our honeymoon forever. From the staff not being able to provide directions, to not knowing what services they even could provide, to saying we would have to just get by on their great personalities (they weren't great) to promising us one thing and then needing to be reminded several times to deliver on that promise (something as small as champagne glasses in our room or please unbox the flowers that arrive today and put them in a vase for us upon our return (instead it was left in the box and put with our suitcases)). Further, on a honeymoon often hotels do something for their honeymooners and we didn't expect anything, but we were treated so poorly and repeatedly faced roadblocks when we needed support from the staff. Frankly, this was unacceptable. None of the rooms had working fireplaces as was advertised (and one of the main reasons we chose the hotel), there were no services that you would expect in a fine hotel. Even during a pandemic, there could have been more effort done to make the immense and extravagant price tag of this hotel somewhat more worth it. The only thing that was worth the money here was the private dinner in the wine cellar, though, even that was a bit uninspired and lacked exciting twists or novel combinations, but I highly doubt that was the chef's fault or the server's fault, both of whom were fantastic. I will not be returning and I will recommend that no one go to this place until there is a complete changeover in management from top to bottom. I hope this is helpful for others of you out there wondering if this once charming hotel is worth the price tag.…
Our family of 5 had the pleasure of staying at the Inn over the Thanksgiving holiday this year. It’s a special place which balances a relaxed atmosphere with a luxury experience. It was our 3rd visit to the Pitcher Inn, and our favorite. Warren is a magical town with lots to offer in terms of atmosphere. We were concerned that the pandemic would negatively impact our ability to enjoy the property, but found that the staff were able to safely facilitate dining and lodging in ways which felt safe, luxurious and pleasant. We had wonderful breakfasts and lovely dinners, enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and many wooded walks in the neighboring area with our dog who was also welcomed. My only feedback would be the quality of the bedding—pillows especially could use a refresh, and the coffee which was often warm, thick and bitter. Both categories of bedding and coffee I believe could be improved (which are of significant importance to me admittedly). We stayed in the Hayloft which was a little small for us and does not have a working fireplace, if both suites were available we would have enjoyed both for a more relaxing experience, without room for a roll away, our toddler needed to sleep with us which wasn’t ideal. Overall, I couldn’t recommend this Inn more highly, the staff and management are absolutely warm and caring and the dining is special. We look forward to returning again soon and hope to share it with friends for a private post pandemic celebration. Additionally, I would recommend this venue for a wedding or special event. My sense is that the new ownership will only improve this Vermont jewel. We are grateful!…
My husband and I have always been fans of the PItcher Inn and have spent a number of special dinners and weekends there. This summer when we were forced to downsize our daughter's wedding, we decided it was the perfect place to host a small group of family and friends for a very special and memorable wedding weekend. The Inn was able to accommodate our whole wedding party in style and we had the entire property and staff to ourselves throughout the celebration. They were very attentive to our needs beginning with letting the wedding party check in early to prepare, to the moment our guests arrived and were greeted with cold drinks in the lobby and snacks in their rooms. They arranged the ceremony seating and decorated the dining tables beautifully outside and directed all the moving pieces like distributing the flowers to the wedding party, setting up the musicians and sound, and getting us all lined up and ready to go. With very little notice they even helped us find and set up a live stream Zoom of the wedding for the many guests we could not include in person. The grounds were beautiful. A new general manager was just starting that weekend and personally took it upon herself to plant flowers in all the planters outside which made it look lovely. After dinner, the backyard was transformed into our outdoor dance floor with some audio hookups. We took full advantage of the firepit and patio outside the game room for an after party with more yummy snacks from the kitchen. Our friends were completely blown away by the Inn from its location in the tiny picturesque hamlet of Warren, to the beautiful garden setting by the brook, the wonderful food that we were served, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, and the comfort and whimsy of each of their rooms and the fabulous baths and steam showers. Despite all the heartache that Covid has thrown at us this year, the Pitcher Inn and its staff made our daughter's wedding weekend a very special and memorable occasion and we thank them for that.…
When our original wedding venue closed for the summer due to COVID-19, we were forced to reimagine (and drastically downsize) an event we had spent over a year planning. From the very first conversation with The Pitcher Inn, the staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating. We worked with the on-site wedding planner to pull off the most magical night and wedding of my dreams in less than 2 months. Every detail was addressed prior to the big day so that when it arrived I didn't have to think about a thing. All of our guests spent the night and enjoyed the opportunity to explore the unique design of each room. The backyard was completely transformed by the staff into something I can only describe as whimsical. The servers were simultaneously inconspicuous and always there if you needed anything. During the course of our visit the entire staff strictly followed COVID protocols making us and our guests feel safe. We look forward to returning for future wedding anniversaries to come!…
The review below is perfectly written and was our experience exactly. Please save your hard earned vacation days and money and stay elsewhere. We shortened our trip after 2 nights as it was unsafe to bathe our baby in the bath with mildew. The owner offered us 10% off our stay. Completely unacceptable. Please see these photos attached before booking. Keep in mind this room is $825/night.
