We stayed here this week and we have to rave about how warm friendly and accommodating Lori, the inn keeper and host extraordinaire was- a perfect stay. We were in Waitsfield for a parent Workshop with True North Wilderness. Lori was attentive to our schedule and showed wonderful understanding of what were needed. She helped us find a dinner reservation, made gorgeous breakfasts and lovely sweets with the best iced tea. We will be returning her on all of our trips to Waitsfueld and recommend it highly to true North families!
We stayed at Yellow Farmhouse Inn for a wedding and were in the suite on the ground floor. It is huge, modern/updated, and really comfortable (large bathroom, living area with electric fireplace, separate bedroom, mini kitchenette). Lori and Monte were amazing hosts (the homecooked breakfast in particular is a real highlight). From remembering my dietary restrictions to brushing snow off our car for us (thank you, Monte), we were impressed by their professionalism, hospitality, and kindness. The inn is very centrally located within Waitsfield - easy to get to restaurants, shops, and other attractions. This was my first time in a true B&B and the bar has been set high!
This is a charming inn. We stayed in the first floor suite which was very comfortable, clean and filled with light. Lori makes wonderful, healthy and delicious breakfasts. She will accommodate any special diets. Homemade cookies or brownies are available along with tea or coffee. The town of Waitsfield is very historic and charming. Lori recommended three excellent restaurants nearby. Across the street is a barn with chickens, goats and a horse. There are beautiful views from any window. There was also also a comfortable living room. It was a pleasure to meet her family.
We stayed at Yellow Farmhouse two nights while in town for a wedding. The new owners/Innkeepers are also living there while their adjacent historical house is being renovated. So, there are only 3 or 4 rooms available right now. I'm not a fan of B&B's, but this was a very pleasant stay primarily because of Lori and Monte, the Innkeepers. Not only were they accommodating and flexible, but they had interesting stories and engaging conversations that left us feeling like friends instead of customers. The room and ensuite bath were well appointed and functional. Unlike some B&B's, there were no creaky old antiques that may look great, but are not useful. We had stands for our suitcases and our own thermostat. This is a two-story house with no elevator, but some rooms are on the first floor. We thoroughly enjoyed Mrs. Pickles (see picture). Quiet, calm, and unique. If you're looking for a calm, relaxing stay in rural Vermont, give Yellow Farmhouse a look. You won't be disappointed.…
I traveled back home to VT for the funeral of a very dear friend. The Yellow Farmhouse Inn was the perfect place to decompress prior to commencing funeral activities. The new owners are amazing! The chocolate, peanut butter filled cookies that greeted us were among the best cookies I have ever tasted! The breakfast the next day was equally wonderful! Our suite was just perfect for two old friends meeting up after years apart. The grounds are breathtaking, the beds comfy and the people and critters so welcoming and accommodating! I hope to return!
Me and my girlfriend are thru hiking the long trail. The Yellow Farmhouse inn was an amazing place to stay while we resupplied and did laundry. The rooms are comfortable and cozy. The owners treated us like family! They welcomed us with tea and fresh cookies!! It is within walking distance of the grocery + mad taco + Clearwater sports outdoor store. Best trail town + place to stay on trail. 802-496-4263
My daughter and I had the pleasure of experiencing a long-term stay at the Yellow Farmhouse Inn from February to May 2021, while I spent the season working at Sugarbush, and she attended remote high school classes between snowboard runs. Coming from the Philadelphia area, we wanted to create unique and positive memories in the midst of the grueling pandemic, and we found the opportunity to do so in the Mad River Valley. The Yellow Farmhouse Inn is quintessential rural Vermont. The mid-1800s homestead sits on a rolling hillside on 10 gorgeous explorable acres, complete with horses and a wondrous view of the nearby Northfield Mountains. From the depth of winter with its deep snow cover, to the spring thaw (and subsequent late season snowfalls), every day we were immersed in an evolving landscape, as if we were part of a picture-perfect living postcard. The Inn is a short stroll to town, with it’s cafes, restaurants, and Waitsfield’s idyllic covered bridge. And it’s a stone’s-throw from Vermont’s best skiing at Sugarbush and Mad River Glen; close to trailheads with endless hiking opportunities; and of course there’s the Mad River itself with its world-class fly-fishing and paddling. We rented the spacious Morgan Ashlee Suite, a very pleasant one-bedroom apartment with an unusually-comfortable sofa bed in the living room, a modern kitchenette, and a separate desk area which served as a perfect remote classroom for my daughter and remote office for me. There was plenty of closest space for our winter gear, and a huge master bath with jacuzzi tub and separate shower. Our hosts Lori and Andrew, the Inn’s brand new proprietors, were so lovely and accommodating. They helped make our stay an experience we will no-doubt always cherish. Back home in the Philly ‘burbs now for a few days, I have had time to reflect on what a special place the Mad River Valley is. It’s friendly people, it’s picturesque landscape, and it’s exciting activities are the stuff that memories are made of, and I am thankful that I had the opportunity to share this experience with my daughter during a particularly difficult time in modern history. I could think of no better base-of-operation for the experience than the Yellow Farmhouse Inn.…
Our stay at the Yellow Farmhouse Inn couldnt have been better. Sandi and Mike will make sure you are comfortable and feel at home. Her breakfasts are outstanding. And if you need any info on the area, Mike knows all (It's what he does). If the opportunity presents itself, be sure to visit the Yellow Farmhouse Inn.
The Yellow Farmhouse Inn is a favorite destination where we have gathered with friends. The inn is charming with beautiful and unique rooms. Very relaxing inside and out. The property is beautifully maintained and is a great spot to simply sit and enjoy the view or is located near town with many places to explore and many outdoor activities. Breakfasts and the fresh made treats were delicious! Mike and Sandra are amazing hosts and we always look forward to our stay.
We searched for a place to stay near Sugerbush and Madriver Glen for a romantic valentines ski trip and found the Yellow Farmhouse Inn. It is exceptional! Mike and Sandra our inn keepers are friendly and helpful. Mike Called several restaurants to help us get in for Valentines dinner and that place didn’t not disappoint either. Stay here if you want a beautiful friendly experience in a place that is clean like no one has been here before! Oh and then there is the breakfast... yum!!! Thanks Sandra and Mike!
