I was extremely fortunate to stay at the Field Guide Lodge several times over the past six months. The facilities are beautiful and the rooms are comfortable and well appointed. I have been consistently impressed with the management team and staff, all of whom are highly professional and went out of their way to accommodate special requests. The daily breakfast, which included fresh baked goods and fruit, was delicious and quite convenient when heading out early. If you’re looking for privacy, I recommend staying in the Trail house building as it offers a more spacious layout and beautiful views. This was my fourth time visiting Stowe, and I can truly say I found a home away from home. My only wish is that I had more time to enjoy the outdoor amenities. Kudos to the Field Guide Lodge!…
I have to be honest, I wasn’t expecting much as the room rate here is no where near what is being asked at other places in town. We booked last minute due to snow, and I requested a larger room. My request was honored, with a living room and fireplace off of the bedroom, and a large bathroom as well. Furnishings were current and comfortable. Even though the lobby was a walk through the parking lot, there was a welcoming vibe there. Board games and free breakfast…which was not a throw away. Overnight oats in a mason jar, hard boiled egg and hummus on toast…it all summed up the thoughtful details we experienced throughout our stay. Minor quirks, a stained shower curtain instead of glass, and not enough caffeinated coffee pods. I would still stay here again.
First visit to Stowe for our 4th wedding anniversary. We’re both 35ish and chose this lodge based on location- it was ideal to what we had planned! We spent 2 nights in the trail house king suite. We paid extra to not stay in the main lodge. The pool was closed and we didn’t use the hot tub. The room is a short walk from the main lodge. It had plenty of space, 2 closets, mini fridge, coffee maker, great view, clean, beautiful bathroom. I love how the Lear cookies in the room as a welcome gift- salted chocolate chip. They were delicious!! Only a couple small complaints- I read that it was noisy and it was- it’s just an old building that was Renovated but you can hear everything, people walking, talking, the floor is extremely creaky. We were there in between seasons but I imagine if it’s full it’ll be loud. The coffee cups are small so the kerig overflowed. The best part about this was the location- we could walk (or bike) everywhere. We ate at the bench, skinny pancake, Harrison’s, the bagel and piecassio. We walked everywhere and biked to piecassio and Stowe cider. There’s a few shops downtown- all close relatively early. We only had to drive on the last day to Moss Glenn falls but we just did that after check out on our way to Burlington. It was only 10 minutes away, a short walk to. A huge gorgeous waterfall. field guide lodge location is prime- I imagine Stowe is busier in the winter/ summer. It’s just beautiful. I’d highly recommend this lodge based on location.…
The staff was friendly. It was a quiet weekend with few other guests so the place was pretty quiet. Lobby is very cool. Room was clean and fixtures were all new. The shower was tight, but the water was hot. Streaming TV. It was a short walk to downtown and there are plenty of restaurants immediately across the street and next door. Easy ride to the mountain.
We planned to be in Stowe for a few days of skiing and booked our accommodations at the Field Guide Lodge based on the photos and reviews online. We were not disappointed. The decor is indeed contemporary "mountain-chic" - sleek furniture, some wood and stone finishes, not too rustic - which we loved. Our stay was in the trail house suite, which has a spacious sitting room with a fireplace (though I wished it had a small dining table too), a good-size bath and a bedroom with a king-size bed. The room was very clean. While the hotel is not fully staffed at all hours unlike the large hotel chains, the staff was very communicative and accommodating, and we could make requests/ask questions via text - so convenient! Some reviewers have alluded to the sound insulation - while we could occasionally hear guests walking around in the room above us, it didn't bother us (we've experienced the same at the Ritz in Maui with guests above us who sounded like they were moving furniture every night). I guess we are resigned to hearing other guests when we are at hotels. The bag of cookies and local treats they left in the room upon check-in was such a nice touch. Also wanted to add that I had to make changes to our stay twice over the phone, and each time they were very nice and chill about it. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. My son was so sad to leave he made us promise that we would return to the lodge and the exact same room on our next trip!…
A great place in a great location. Very clean. Comfortable beds , nice views , and a lovely healthy and delicious breakfast . Everything we wanted , it was close to restaurants, shops and skiing. Just really perfect!
Great first impression with the front desk. The room was comfortable and clean. The lodge was cozy with a nice common area. Once Covid is over and the food service is fully functional the rating would be higher. Easy to walk across the street where there are two restaurants.
I stayed here for one evening in December of 2021. I had looked forward to it prior, seemed like a tranquil place to relax, sadly I was mistaken. I don't know if it was because I'm a single woman, and this is more of a family style lodge? Or that I am a single woman and there was no proof to how poorly I was treated by this company, because I was alone with no witnesses. I mistakenly booked my first initial stay for the wrong days. Called the hotel, no answer, left message, no response. $350 + hard earned dollars that I missed out on, for the "trail king suite" I took that loss, it was my mistake, I rebooked for the correct days and wasn't going to say anything upon check in, which had been very unprofessional. I was given my keys and no info about the lodge, a very young girl that didn't check my I'd, and didn't even let me finished writing my signature upon sign in. At this point I was still hopeful about relaxing and enjoying this place, crazy I know, but was being really hopeful. I was first going to see if the stay was worth it. I'm not a person that likes to complain unless the issue is beyond rediculous. Once again to my surprise, The room was nothing as I expected it to be. The number one issue I had was, it was a freezing night/ blizzard, windy while I was there, I had a thermostat in the room, but it was not connect to anything. 65° the whole time I was in that room. Heard a snow blower that sounded like a generator ALL NIGHT LONG. Fire alarm also went off earlier in the night. Didn't realize the thermostat issue until waking the next morning. I froze all night waking multiple times shivering. No extra blanket at the foot of the bed. I booked the "deluxe queen" room since the " trail king suite " was no longer available for this selected stay. I payed over 100+ more dollars than the initial room that caught my eye, for a much more mediocre room. The only " deluxe" item this room included was the bath tub, In my opinion. Everything else was much lower quality than your basic cheap hotel. ( Days inn ECT) If you like getting out of a tub into a 60° room, then this is the place for you. Dirty tiled shower floor as well You will also be awarded with a dresser, a tiny fridge, tv, a chair, and a bed with a nice thin blanket with black ink stains all over it. Maybe a few dimly lighted lamps as well, to hide how dingy it actually is. Don't forget those "wonderful honey comb robes" that are about the size for a toddler. I am a 5'3" slender woman and still didn't cover me barely. You will also be awarded with a paper thin door you can hear others through, and windows that let in a large draft. The including breakfast, was pathetic. Didn't start until 8am which was just around the time I was leaving, and only had sit down options, no eggs or bacon, " normal stuff" just fruit parfaits and croissants. nothing to grab and go. I decided to skip the breakfast, and check out early, where I did decided to voice my opinion about the lack of heat, and possibly getting a discount for this stay or a future one, for my troubles. Then the woman at the desk informs me " you would have to wait for our manager to help you out with that, hes here at 8." As to what I responded " It is past 8, it's actually 8:20 I really didn't want to ask but this place wasn't as nice as I expected it to be. I know I never say the right things, but thanks anyways" and I left my keys and left that awful place. I have told all my local friends to not bother with this lodge, unless you want to be treated less than a human being. I have also told my traveling friends from Big sky Montana, to never stay at field guide lodge, or in Stowe Vermont for that matter, because you are all a bunch of money hungry snobs that think you are better than every other human being on earth. I hope you enjoyed my money I spent to enjoy myself, that rather caused me huge headache. Hope you improve your lodge a little. I'm sure you have a some saved up from each person that is unlucky enough to choose this place, and get scammed by you. $700+ dollars for one night stay, and not even a 30% off discount card. Greedy, very greedy is all I have to say. You do recieve two chocolate chip cookies upon arrival though, I guess that's supposed to make up for it all.…
Girlfriend and I stayed at Field Guide Lodge for two nights, arrived just in time for the snow. Check in was very easy through sms, ad well as scheduling the hot tub. Hotel lounge was very decorated, lovely decorations and a comfy fireplace. Our king room was very large, had a tv, couch, mini fridge and a very thoughtful welcome package that included local chocolates, local made soap, a pretty postcard that we sent to our family at the post office, and some popcorn. The bed was extremely comfortable, was sturdy but not too much, just the right amount to fall asleep. The breakfast was great and different from the usual American breakfast: the first day we ate eggs on bread with hummus and arugula, delicious overnight oats with pumpkin seeds and cranberry, and some fruit. The next day we had salad with hummus, the same overnight oats, and croissants. We stayed in low season so not many other guests around. We had a great time and will visit again in our next stay in Stowe!…
This was a beautiful hotel located near Stowe ski Mountain. When you enter, the lobby is just gorgeous. There's beautiful interior design everywhere you look. We went upstairs to the room. The hallway is quite narrow. When we entered our room, was just beautiful interior design and a beautiful bathroom. Everything remodeled and upgraded. We loved everything about the room. The breakfast was just wonderful with lots of treats available including a nice scone as well as cinnamon apples and also some Chia and coconut oatmeal. They also had La Colombe coffee which is amazing! The only thing that was strange to me was that while we were in the room, we could very clearly hear people walking outside in the hallway. I was awakened by this several times at night. I’m not sure how good the sound insulation is in the hotel. And I'm assuming this would be an issue if there were many people staying in the hotel. There is free parking available in the hotel parking lot.…
