My wife and I stayed at Sun and Ski inn for a night during a recent ski trip to Stowe.
There are a lot of lodging options in the area, and many are pricey. Because the focus of our visit was skiing, we weren’t looking for a lot of amenities. Rather we just wanted an affordable, comfortable place to sleep after a long day on the slopes.
Sun and Ski provided this, along with cheerful service.

Check-in was contactless, with room key card and paperwork left in a mailbox just outside the office. Our king room was clean and tidy and equipped with a small table and 2 chairs, mini fridge and microwave, and a small TV set. There was a separate bathroom with tub and toilet, and a good sized sink area with a large well lit mirror just outside. A sliding back door looked out on a stream and snow covered lawn. Our king bed was comfortable but equipped with only 3 half-sized pillows, making it hard to sit up in bed and watch TV. This was our only real complaint, and minor at that. We did find an extra pillow in the room, but it would have been nice if all the pillows provided were full sized, particularly for a king sized bed.
The walls are a bit thin, and our neighbors sounded like they were running laps next door for a bit. I’ll assume they had kids, although we didn’t see any. Fortunately, they eventually quieted down and we slept fairly well.

We dropped our key cards and contact information at the front desk in the morning and were offered a choice of boxed continental breakfast. Our boxes contained a hard boiled egg, string cheese, a rolled up ham slice, an orange and a small danish. Pre-packaged juices and excellent coffee are also offered in the lobby. The few employees we encountered were very pleasant.

Sun and Ski has an adjacent bowling alley and restaurant, which looks nice, but was not open on our Tuesday night stay. Cocktails and beer are offered, along with a pub style menu. We would have enjoyed bowling a few strings and having some drinks and snacks. Maybe next time. There is also an indoor pool which guests can use by reservation, but we didn’t partake on this visit. Looked nice though.

All in all, a good value for the area. I’d recommend bringing your own pillow.

Good afternoon Ihsahn. At Sun & Ski Inn and Suites we wholeheartedly agree that a fantastic night’s sleep on a comfortable mattress bedecked with harmonious linens is the cornerstone of any enjoyable lodging experience, so please accept our apologizes regarding the size of your pillows and be assured that your concerns will be forwarded to our operations team for further review and discussion. It was pleasing to learn the remainder of your time at our Inn was exemplary and exceeded your expectations. As another epic ski season winds down and thoughts of spring, summer and fall begin to take seed, we would ask that you please keep our Inn at the top of your list when your travels return you to the majestic Green Mountain State. It would be wonderful to host you and yours again at Sun & Ski in June, July or August as summer is an especially active, event packed season which boasts over half of Stowe’s “Signature Events” taking place during these pleasant days and crisp, cool nights. Whether you fancy the Arts, road racing or simply browsing through locally grown produce, handcrafted goods, handmade breads, pastries and more at the Stowe Farmers’ Market, it is certain to be an extra special time period and one to remember as we emerge from the events of the past year. Take care.

We stayed at Sun & Ski Inn and Suites while visiting Stowe with a ski club. Our stay was perfect! The rooms have everything one would need; there is a lobby with a fireplace and comfy chairs, a pool, hot tub, bar, limited restaurant and bowling lanes (yes, really). The staff is fantastic - friendly and helpful. The shuttle stops in front of the inn for easy transportation to and from downtown Stowe and numerous restaurants. And lastly, the chocolate chip cookies available all afternoon are delicious.

Beds were super comfortable. Large room (Suite 6) with 2nd level loft. The location can't be beat, just down the street from Idletyme, Piecasso, and other great restaurants. Across the street from ski shop and market. Recommend getting up early on weekends to get into Stowe Resort (leave before 8AM to avoid traffic, which can take 30 minutes to get into the Stowe parking lot at 8:45-10:00AM). The bowling alley, swimming pool, and hot tub were added bonuses and this resort was not crowded.

This place was great! Location is very walkable to many nearby shops and restaurants. Walking path across the street is well maintained, even with fresh snow. The free shuttle bus to and from the mountain conveniently and frequently stops all along the main roads. Having a bowling ally on premises was great! We were able to bowl and watch the Super Bowl. The gluten free pizza 10/10. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The only con we really had was that the hot tub was usually monopolized by groups that would spend the whole evening drinking in there, making it difficult to get time. The king bed was extremely comfortable, meant to check the brand but forgot haha! Overall great stay - will be back!

Upon arrival staff was not very friendly. I was greeted with check in time is at 3pm. Then she said that she would check to see if our room was ready. She came back and said it would be 15 minutes. We waited more than 15 minutes before I went up and asked if the room was ready I was told that the room would not be ready for another 30 minutes. To get ice there is only one place 2nd floor of main building. This was not a problem until the elevator was out of order and you had to take the stairs. Then one of the days of our visit there was no water apparently a pipe burst but we are not sure because we were never informed about why there was no water. The company that came to take care of the problem park right in our parking spot in front of our room not just one day but two. We had to park in the parking lot for visitors. I asked at one point how long we would be without water in our room and got a blank Steer and no answer. Later that day I asked if we stayed at the hotel do we get any discount for the bowling and the answer I got was that’s a them question. So I said do you mean I have to ask the people in the bowling alley and the answer was yes. What I don’t understand is why wouldn’t someone at the front desk know that answer. When I looked up on line the price for 1 hour it was $56 dollars. I think that if you’re a paying customer of the hotel you should get some kind of a discount. I will never stay here ever again. I will say that the room was clean and that the bed was comfortable.

I was so impressed with this property! First of all the room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The pool was incredible with a view of the river. Also, it was relaxing in the hammock overlooking the river and the nightlife was superb with a fire or bowling. Another perk was a walking path to some excellent restaurants. In addition, a healthy breakfast was provided. I would definitely stay here again as I felt a very relaxing vibe here and it was reasonably priced.

The only thing I would change is a very small change, but it would be a significant change if you could use made in the USA soap products. Made in Canada would be acceptable as well, but I can’t stand the China facial soap.

Thank you for the great stay!

Good afternoon. The thoughtful, detailed summation you provided of your stay experiences at Sun & Ski Inn and Suites certainly touched upon and highlighted all the best we have to offer our guests and their families which is why we are known as the premier “family-friendly” & “family-fun” lodging choice in not just Vermont but in all New England. As you wrote, our “To-Go-Breakfast” which was implemented in 2020 has been well received as our guests are now able to savor a morning picnic with friends and family, partake in the privacy of their guestroom or suite, or even load everything into their backpacks and hit the trails early. There is not much to add to your glowing, to-the-point review but to say thank you, invite you & your lovely family to vacation with us again, and, as the sun-drenched days and cool nights of fall are nearly over, it can only mean one thing—winter is nigh, and all the low country and alpine activities associated with copious amounts of snow are nearly upon us. Picture for a moment your and yours mounting a powerful horse-drawn sleigh in anticipation of viewing the awe-inspiring natural beauty of the distant rolling hills and idyllic countryside, pristine and soundless as you glide through dramatic stands of early pine, white birch, and aspen, and just beyond, mountain vistas that reach for the sky… A relaxing outing that is a true Vermont experience and the perfect way to share in the spirit of the holidays with friends and family. Take care.

This is an inside main building 2 story hotel attached to an outside motel close to everything. We chose one of the motel units. The motel unit was exceptionally clean and comfortable. We had a king sized bed, microwave, refrigerator, table and chairs. The bathroom was a tub/shower combo and the sink was in an alcove outside the bathroom. Extra pillows and blankets were provided. The reason we picked the motel unit was because off the back of the room were sliding glass doors that opened up onto a private small wooden deck with 2 chairs and a snack table. Perfect for sitting outside anytime. Activities included a bowling alley and a miniature golf course .We also enjoyed sitting in the lobby by the wood burning fireplace for hours at a time. The first person we came in contact with was Ethan when we checked in. He took care of us immediately and was very helpful. Throughout our stay Ethan was so helpful and accommodating and made sure we were happy. We also had the pleasure of dealing with Alisha who also took care of our every needs. We enjoyed a few nights sitting by the fire in the lobby taken care of by Ethan and Alisha. We will definitely be back.

Hello- This was our second trip to Sun and Ski Inn and Suites in Stowe and each time has been wonderful. We chose this inn because they are very dog friendly. We have a 115 lb German Shepherd and it is nice to have him come with us on trips. The rooms open up in the back from a sliding glass door to a roomy open area that is next to a babbling brook. It’s a nice place to relax and walk our dog. The rooms are clean and well-organized. I have stayed in other “dog-friendly” hotels that smell like urine or put you in the worst rooms (old smoking rooms) because you have a pet. Not here.

The inn also has bowling and miniature golf that the kids love. The inn also is conveniently located just off of the exercise path that you can use to walk/bike to Stowe and many restaurants safely.

In addition, staff is very friendly and helpful if you need anything at the in or have any questions about things to do. Excellent place to stay while you are away from home!

Good morning Jennifer. At Sun & Ski Inn and Suites we are nothing if not unique as we are the only lodging facility in all New England to boast family-friendly and family-fun onsite amenities such as a swanky 8-lane boutique bowling lounge & eatery, a challenging 18-hole miniature replica golf course, and a sparkling indoor pool, 104-degree open-air Jacuzzi & modern Fitness Center. As you learned, we also pride ourselves on being the most pet-friendly establishment anywhere by offering guests delightful pup-specific riverside patio guestrooms and suites which allow your tail-wagger to easily access our expansive lawns and the always-flowing, crystal-clear waters of the West Branch of the snow-fed Little River. And, just a few paw steps in any direction, there are enough trees, fence posts and lamp poles to keep any pooch happy and content as they frolic among the many natural physical features found on our ten+ acre property. With our Inn close to everything as you experienced come perks, with one our being across Mountain Road from Stowe’s most heralded event and where you can let your spirits soar as more than 25 hot air balloons fill the sky at the annual Hot Air Balloon Festival. View breathtaking launches and enjoy live entertainment all while sitting back and relaxing with offerings from the beer and wine garden. Balloon rides and tethered rides are available, as well as a children’s area for those not quite ready to take to the skies. This signature event is hosted within walking distance of our Inn and is a Vermont Chamber Top 10 Summer Event, with the highlight of the 3-day weekend being the sunset and sunrise launches. The sunset launches take place during the festival, with the kid’s activities, games, food, and a beer/wine garden in full effect, while the sunrise launches offer a unique opportunity to visit the pilots prior to the launch. Be sure to reserve your accommodations early, however, as this event is world-renowned, attracting visitors from around the globe. Take care.

I have been coming to the Stowe Vt area for better than a decade and do so several times a year (every year). Previously, after staying at a few locations I had my “regular place” where I would stay. Just by happenstance, I discover Sun and Ski Inn and Suites, and it has been my absolute favorite “go-to” location to stay when I am in Stowe.

Everything from location, being in the middle of everything from food, the rec path, mountain, or downtown shopping. Room sizes, cleanliness, and staff are all spot on and go well beyond to ensure a great experience.

The site location with a great open area for dogs, kids, and the rest of the family to play and gather either by the West Branch of the Little River, or the fire pit and offer on-site bowling, food, and mini golf. For me, it’s the quietness that allows me to still get my work done quickly and efficiently so I can get back to life with family.

There is something for everyone here whether for work or leisure to enjoy.

Good afternoon Matthew. Reading that you, your wife and your Corgis had a fantastic stay while visiting with us at Sun & Ski Inn and Suites is not dissimilar to the many comments we have received from delighted guests over the decades—many staying year-after-year with some joining us for multiple generations as enjoy our sixth decade in business. Thank you for your kind words and welcome to the ever-growing Sun & Ski family! Your review encapsulates the best what we have to offer our guests—clean, comfortable guestrooms and suites complimented by a delectable to-go breakfast each morning all backed up by après-ski, hike—or relax--activities such as rolling a few games of strikes & spares in Stowe Bowl, our 8-lane boutique bowling lounge & eatery, or, enjoying a relaxing soak in our 104-degree open-air Jacuzzi set in the shadows of the iconic, rugged peaks of Mount Mansfield and framed by the tranquil, always-flowing waters of the West Branch of the snow-fed Little River. We would encourage you to make a return trip north to our Inn and beautiful Stowe, Vermont later this year so you can fully experience all the historic village, surrounding pastoral countryside and idyllic, rolling hills has to offer. Fall Foliage, Christmas Week, and Ski Season are all ideal time periods to reacquaint yourself with everything that makes us everyone’s family-favorite vacation destination in New England. Curled up with that someone special by a roaring fire with a comforting cup of warm mulled apple cider or chocolaty hot cocoa—there is nothing better when there is a late afternoon chill in the air or a blanket of snow on the ground. Thank you again for choosing Sun & Ski as your lodging choice and we will see you both again soon. Take care.

It is a very nice hotel. We spent one night during the foliage period. The surroundings were unbelievably beautiful. I can however imaging that it would be a convenient place to stay during skiing. Our room was a good size room, clean and quiet. You park the car by the door to the room. We have not used any facilities in the hotel. The breakfast was given in a box and frankly it did not look good; we could not eat it. Overall nice stay but feels overpriced.

Good afternoon Milanak. Thank you for taking a moment to leave your thoughts concerning your recent stay at Sun & Ski Inn and Suites as you toured the brilliant spectacle of colors this autumn while visiting beautiful Stowe, Vermont. As you surely noticed while with us, there is a chill in the air and that can only mean one thing—winter is nigh, and all the low country and alpine activities associated with copious amounts of snow are nearly upon us. Picture for a moment your loved ones and yourself as you move swiftly and silently through snow-covered forests and discover the solitude and quiet beauty of a winter panorama that's like no other. Stowe’s cross-country ski trails traverse mountain ridges, follow the banks of the snow-fed Little River, snake through valleys and merge with the tracks of deer, fox, and the occasional moose. In winter, Mount Mansfield’s rugged hiking trails are transformed into the perfect cross-country ski destinations, traveling through some of the most unspoiled landscape in the northeast. Enjoy a wide variety of cross-country skiing opportunities—from groomed trails at ski touring centers to the exhilarating descents found in the backcountry. It's your choice as there is something here for everyone--and sharing the spirit of the outdoors in wintertime while enjoying the ultimate alpine experience with friends and loved ones as you create cherished memories that will last a lifetime is a wonderful Sun & Ski tradition that can be yours... Take care.
