Like Stowe's cozy living room—furnished in beloved heirlooms, chalet nostalgia, and welcomed conversation—The Stowehof allows you to find yourself through a loss of routine, earnestly welcoming you to enjoy the geographic and cultural delights of each of Stowe's four seasons. Coming back to your room at The Stowehof is like coming home to your very own chalet. Comfortable and individually decorated, each of our rooms has exactly what you'll need after a day out on an Alpine adven Step into our intimate downstairs bar and restaurant, named after world-famous mountaineer and one-time resident of The Stowehof, Fritz Wiessner. We commemorate him at the Fritz Bar, with a casual Vermont Bavarian menu of locally-sourced foods, beers, and spirits. Start your day in our sunny mountain view Mansfield Room, where pre-adventure nourishment is provided daily in the form of a counter-style breakfast. Get energized with fresh coffee or delicious breakfast sandwiches with homemade english muffins.

This place is solid. Old School type small motel that has a groovy feel. Some may complain it’s “outdated” because they still use real keys, and the floors are the original wood. It was clean, comfy, and very intimate. The floors squeak at night which may bother some folks but it’s a cool old place that may not be for everyone. I liked it though.

Hotel's Favorite
Stowehof is a gorgeous getaway destination in the beautiful town of Stowe, VT. Set up on a hill surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds, you have full views of the surrounding mountain range. Amenities include a gorgeous outdoor pool adjacent to a funky bar/restaurant - Fritz - which includes poolside service. There is also an indoor pool and hot tub, a huge amount of indoor lounges with comfy seating, games, and photos representing the amazing history of the building. The rooms are incredibly spacious and comfortable with balcony views of the mountains. Best of all for us, were the newly patched tennis courts. We started our day with coffee, a good game of tennis with (chipmunks to retrieve our balls) followed by a swim and good book by the pool. Can't wait to go back!

A unique hotel with retro charm. Large lobby with nooks and crannies with several fireplaces. Large fire pit outside that is always going. Love the old caged, European-styled elevator, the chapel doors in hallway on third floor and how each door had its own antique door knocker. Our room was beautiful... lots of space and storage for your clothes. Best room with best view is 44. Room 46 would have a good view as well. Robert, who never seems to leave his job, greets you and checks you in. Great, friendly personality with lots of knowledge in surrounding area. Very clean, food and bar are downstairs but will serve you wherever you are.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Stowehof for our 10-year anniversary. The location is awesome with a beautiful view. We loved sitting on the patio around the pool for cocktails from the Fritz Bar and were pleasantly surprised that the food was so good! Get the Fried Chicken Sandwich, trust me! We enjoyed the hot tub and indoor pool, but be aware only one family can use it at a time (COVID). We had a King room with a view. The bed was very comfortable, and the room is charming- older decor, craftsman-style (built-in) closets and dresser in a changing room before the bathroom. As other reviews might have mentioned, the rooms could use some updating overall, mostly the bathroom, but the carpet seemed new. The lobby and sitting area is really cool- my husband and I both thought this would be a great place to stay in the winter (post-COVID) because of all the fire places and cozy nooks everywhere. Quirky old elevator was cool. All of the staff were super friendly and a mini-fridge was provided in the room at my request. If you like a place with a little history, this is a great place to stay! Many of the other properties in Stowe are in the valley with little view or in town where traffic and tourists abound. Stowehof is peaceful and relaxing, a great Fall getaway!

The room was pretty small, outdated, and not very clean. The walls were thin. The concierge recommended a breakfast place that was not open for breakfast. It was overpriced for what we got. The views were gorgeous, though, and the lobby is very nice. It is also in a great location.

Dear audreys243, Thanks so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I am so sorry to read that you did not enjoy your room as we certainly strive to provide our guests with a wonderful room experience. I am also sorry to read that our team suggested a restaurant that was not open; with COVID-19, the hours of operation for many of our local eateries fluctuate daily, making it challenging at times to provide accurate hours of operation. Thank you again for your comments and please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly should you wish to discuss your experience further. Best regards, Ryan Krukar
