Detailed Reviews
Spent days trying to find the perfect place in Stowe and came upon this Inn. I'm so glad we booked this place. We stayed in the Inn towards the back of the property. Rooms were nicely remodeled and very clean. We had a small balcony that fit 1 Adirondack chair. We had a 2 queen bed room efficiency unit which included a fridge/freezer, cooktop and microwave. Fridge/freezer was a great size. The toilet/bathtub were separated from the sink which was nice. Towards the back of the property, there is a small bridge the connects to the bike path that takes you right into downtown Stowe. Nice walk with families biking/walking/running. The location is great because it's within walking distance to downtown (30 min walk) and can also walk to stores/restaurants very close by. There's a nice sized area full of Adirondack chairs located outside between the indoor and outdoor pool. It would great to see some outdoor fire pits here! Would definitely stay here again.

My wife and I have taken many ski trips to Stowe over the years but this was our first stay at the Grey Fox Inn. We are sure to return! The Inn has a quaint, historic feel and recent renovations have updated it with modern conveniences, cleanliness and comfort.
The indoor pool and hot tub area feels new and is very well maintained. The location is ideal with many restaurants, stores and activities close by. The staff is very friendly. I highly recommend this property!

First off I would like to say I had a great time at style took me 24 years of skiing to get there But I’ll be returning next year. Stowe has the highest peak in the area and a very modern village. It was also nice to see nightlife in the area and people out and around where I feel and other mountains this is lacking after a day of skiing. The gray fox itself is clean, modern, and walkable to a breakfast café and a few restaurants. The indoor pool and Jacuzzi was a pleasant surprise also. The kitchen could use a few more amenities for cooking especially if you’re coming with a family or staying a few days and don’t feel like eating out every night

First, the management of this hotel is incredible unethical. I have in writing that they would allow a one time change to my reservation date and when I did that they charged two deposits. They overcharged me $300 and refuse to return the overcharge and have told me to deal with my credit card company. I don't even know how they have a leg to stand on because their direction to allow me to change my reservation was in writing... So this headache has been going on for two months.
Second, you'll surprised when you are assigned a basement room. When would you ever expect to ask a hotel if your room is above ground? I think it's incredible they don't tell guests they are being assigned a basement room. It's unfortunate because the rooms are good sizes, but no matter what people like light and paying hundreds of dollars a night should warrant a room above ground.
Finally, the pool deck and hot tub is not cleaned throughout the day, so they were pretty disgusting by end of day. Especially in winter months, the hot tub was used a lot so you think more time would be taken to clean it . The amount of hair and brown foam...

Absolutely terrible customer service. I tested positive for COVID 4 days before my booking. I have spent the last two days trying to cancel my reservation. I booked through hotels.com. They tried calling the hotel numerous times to cancel. I tried calling and emailing management. I still have not been able to get in touch with someone to cancel or change my booking. The person I spoke with at the hotel told me I could change the booking to a different date without being charged a cancellation fee. When I try and do that online, I am still being charged a $200 change fee. I understand the hotel has cancelation policies; however, I booked a refundable room. It seems as though they are attempting to violate that policy by waiting to cancel my reservation until after the check in date when it is no longer refundable.

My husband and I spent 4 nights here in September. The location is great, right on the mountain road a couple of miles from Stowe Village. It was nice that we could walk to some places (Stowe Bee Bakery, Sushi Yoshi). We were in the Mountain View Building on the first floor. We had a deck and could walk right out our door and get on the Stowe Rec path. The room had plenty of space, and had a microwave, small refrigerator and coffee maker. I really loved the fact that there were so many shelves. There were 4 shelves in the main room where you could put the coffee maker, food, wine, etc. The bathroom also had 4 shelves, plenty of room for toilet articles. We had a great trip and I would recommend the Grey Fox Inn.

Clean, convenient, easy check in and check out all virtual. The beds were comfortable and you could easily control the temp in the room. You Tube TV app already installed and easy to use was also a big plus. 4 stars because there were a few touches missing. No Tissues in room, no desk, very little storage space in the bath room. An open shelving unit under the sink would have been a big help! No mirror except in bathroom, no art on the walls. Good storage for winter coats and boots when you walk in and nice views from the Mt. view room.

this hotel was perfect, had a complete kitchen and a pretty view. Close to the resorts, restaurants and the town( less than 10 min) The staff was very friendly. Price very affordable too, i found it cheaper than an airbnb. It say that has a fireplace, it just for decoration but it is a nice touch and dont worry They have a heater.

We came into Stowe looking for a nice place to stay. We stopped at the Stowe visitor center, and they recommended The Grey Fox Inn. We found the Inn and asked to see a room. Nicole asked what we were looking for and showed us a couple of room options.
We are so happy to have found such a clean and comfortable place to stay. We had a beautiful view of the mountains, a small kitchenette, and access to a walking trail that runs behind the Inn. I also can't say enough about Nicole. I am assuming that she is the manager, but she wears many hats. She runs the front desk, helps clean the rooms, and we even saw her cleaning leaves from the pool. She does everything with a smile and a friendly attitude. It was an absolute pleasure to stay here. After staying in a couple of well worn Hampton Inns in the area, it was so nice to have such a comfortable place to stay.

I had to cancel due to my quarantine plan falling through. The cancellation policy is 7 days prior or 14 during holidays. I cancelled 11 days prior to Presidents Day weekend. Grey Fox refused to refund my deposit of half of a three night stay. Every other decent company has made exceptions during these unique times. Not the Grey Fox! Look elsewhere for lodging!

New York City, New York273 contributions67 helpful votesDoes anyone know if you can easily take the mountain road bus or is it best to drive? The closest stop looks like 15 minutes walking.
I am hoping there is an option as the mountain claims they are trying to reduce congestion.

The coffee maker at the Grey Fox two-bedroom suite is an automatic drip. It was not a Keurig. It does not have a hot tub in the unit.
Yes, I believe it was drip. Didn't use it, but pretty sure.
