What a gem! I felt right at home with the comfort of the room, the bed, and the amenities around the house. Lots of comfortable seating and reading nooks, a FANTASTIC breakfast, quick and responsive service, a super clean hot tub, and the fireplace in my room really sealed the deal for me - LOL! I loved the decor - it felt like I was in a Wes Anderson movie set in Vermont, and there were so many thoughtful touches throughout- slippers, plush robes, chocolates, amazing coffee, evening snacks... I truly felt so well cared for and will definitely be coming back!

This was a mother/daughter getaway for a special Birthday. The location was perfect. Our decision to stay was based on price & location. Very charming feel as soon as we checked in. Our room was spacious & very comfortable. Breakfast was amazing & Don made us feel right at home. We enjoyed the living space too. Very relaxing & comfortable. We can’t wait to plan our next visit to the Brass Lantern & Stowe! ❤️

An absolute perfect "Vermont Inn"! Views of the mountain from our room were spectacular! Outstanding decor, delicious food, and 5-star service. Conveniently located in Stowe within walking distance of Stowe Village with access to all the fine restaurants and shops. Skied for 3 days at Mt Mansfield during the week and made the trip up the Mountain Road without any problem.

A comfortable B&B with excellent breakfasts. Our second visit and we expect to make this an annual event! Cozy room with fireplace and view of Mount Mansfield. Friendly host and staff. Dinner at their recently acquired restaurant, Michael’s on the Hill, was superb!

Pros: Beautifully decorated interior common areas and guest rooms. Beautiful views of Mt. Mansfield. Friendly accommodating staff. Very convenient to main section of town. Delicious home cooked breakfast & evening snacks. Cons: A bit on the pricey side. Located on a busy road led to evening road noise in our bedroom. Owner’s several dogs barking from a fenced pen outside our bedroom window a couple of times in the evening ( slightly annoying ). Music playing in the common areas was a bit loud - found it distracting while trying to read in the otherwise very comfortable living room.

Thank you for your review! We appreciate it, including how we can do better. Our pricing does fluctuate based on the season and demand, and we do offer specials for the mid-week or longer stays, so hopefully you can find a price on your next stay that works for you. The room you stayed in is on the street side, which is a busy road. We do provide sound machines and ear plugs in every room in case this is an issue for you (everyone's comfort level with street noise is different). We take the feedback on the dog barking as our Golden Retriever puppy can sometimes be quite fickle on going in and out, and sometimes when we are busy attending to other things he can feel the need to make his desire to come in be known. We will do better on that! I also would have been happy to have turned down the music if you had asked! We thank you again and hope to see you another time!

Don was responsive and accommodating for every request. The location was perfect. So close to everything. The Sugarloaf room was small, but served my needs and had a super comfy bed. I loved the added touches like snacks in the afternoon and hot chocolate or coffee available on a whim. I even had an opportunity to enjoy the hot tub. Each morning breakfast was delicious and one morning they even made me breakfast to go as I needed to leave early. I highly recommend this stay.

Thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The Inn is very close to town and has beautiful views of the mountains. We were welcomed warmly and given a thorough tour. Our room was very comfortable and we felt that we had everything needed plus felt the owners were there for us with any questions or needs. Nite time jacuzzi was beautiful under the stars. Staff is very friendly and breakfasts outstanding. Just an all around positive experience. Good value, lovely property, and well run by adults who know what they are doing. Highly recommend.

My wife and I just returned from a two night stay at the Brass Lantern Inn, Stowe VT. From the outset when I (75 years old) was walking up the stairs loaded with bags, the proprietor who was considerably younger did not offer to help. The room itself should have been in a monastary in that I had difficulty fitting between the sink and shower in the bathroom (I am slim at 173 lbs). The room advertised a queen size bed and I believe it was a twin. The positive was cozy sleeping. There was no chair, TV or other items normally expected in a room. When I made the reservation the pictures on the website in no way matched this room (bait and switch?) The breakfast was passable since I have allergies, but one piece of bread per service was a bit much. Lastly, there was no room service, and when we questioned this after the fact - the response was we should have read the app. Since I am not computer savy a few words might have been sufficient. Good luck if you stay there. Also, it was not a last minute resevation, I paid for the room last April!

Response from Donald Jones, Innkeeper at Brass Lantern Inn
Responded Jan 2, 2024
Hello, I am deeply saddened by your review and am sorry that you did not have the experience we hope to provide to our guests. I would, however, like to respond your concerns. First, I have been making a conscious effort to ask guests if they need assistance with their luggage, so if you did not hear me or I made an oversight in your case, I am sorry. In terms of the room, there was absolutely no ‘bait and switch’ related to this room, which is our most economical room in the Inn. The bed is absolutely a queen, and the pictures on our website and on third party sites (you booked through Expedia) are very clear about what is included in this room and what is not. In fact, on our website it is described as “…for the budget minded with a premium consideration on value” and is marked as an Economy Room on third party sites. A television is not included as an amenity, and the room pictures are very clear that there is not a sitting area in this room. All that said, many of our guest really enjoy this room as they spend most of their time out and about, or take advantage of our comfortable guest areas in the main part of the inn. Given you had booked back in April, you might not have recalled what room you had reserved in the meantime, but we are absolutely clear about the type of room this is. In terms of breakfast, we were only made aware of your dietary restrictions (which were substantial) upon check-in, even though your wife had called a couple days before asking whether your stay would include breakfast, so we did our best to accommodate. Your first day’s breakfast was a veggie egg bake with seasoned potatoes (which, yes, included a piece of toast along with it), and the second day’s breakfast was corn cakes with brown sugar bacon (which you told me you could not eat only after I had brought it to the table). Both came with a starter, an oatmeal bar drizzled in real maple syrup and blueberries the first day (which you did not want), and a berry parfait the next (which you only wanted the blueberries from). Many of our guests rave about our breakfast, so I’m sorry that it didn’t hit the mark for you. In terms of servicing of rooms, our policy, which is provided in confirmation, pre-arrival, and welcome emails upon check-in as well as in our guest app, is laid out clearly that to respect guest privacy as well as reduced our environmental footprint we only service the rooms after the third night or by request. We have had only a few guests in our time here not understand this policy, and I am sorry you missed all of these communications. We have now, in response to this situation, printed the notes that are sent via email and are present in the app and laminated them so they are available in each guest room for our less than tech-savvy guests. I hope that this helps alleviate any confusion around this in the future. Again, we are sorry you did not have the experience we strive for. I believe we are very communicative and clear about our rooms and our policies, but I am sorry in this case that we failed to be clear to you. We wish you the best. Don and Andrew
