Detailed Reviews
We were looking for a COVID safe getaway in VT and Edson Hill was absolutely perfect (so much so we are planning a return stay)! I am really a 5 star hotel/resort traveler so I was a bit nervous not knowing what we would get- but location, service, aesthetic (modern rustic) was all great and we didn’t even get to experience it in the snow. Staff went above and beyond- delivering dinner, making a special breakfast for my daughter’s birthday and accommodating requests! The room (2 queens) was plenty spacious for 2 adults and 2 kids. The fireplace is a fabulous touch both for atmosphere and function (wet clothes dried very quickly on the hearth!!). Edson Hill was quintessential VT (with a modern and fresh look!).

Everything about this place is magical and gorgeous except for a few tiny little things you would expect of the best of the best. From the moment you drive in the natural beauty is what takes your breath away. Upon arrival it would’ve been nice to have someone greet us and help us with our luggage as we were traveling with a child after all I do expect that for $600/night. Also, as they knew it was our 4 year anniversary, just a little something for us during our stay would’ve been that extra touch, but we didn’t get any acknowledgement of it unfortunately. The room we stayed in was beautiful with a wood burning fireplace and and all the little cozy comforts of a 5 star cabin in the woods. Again for $600/night we wouldn’t expect to pay extra for a pack n play in our room but we did and even though we paid extra it wasn’t even set up for us. The food was spectacular at the restaurant and the service overall was very good. We definitely would go back but for the price would like to see a few minor details ironed out.

The structures and landscape of Edson Hill are absolutely gorgeous. There's a view of the Green Mountains across the pond and meadow, and all of the buildings are beautifully designed. Like country-chic. We had no complaints about the space.
Where things fell short was in our room. The central AC didn't work so we had a window AC that was loud and didn't regulate temperature well. Because there was a window AC unit, we couldn't lower the shades below halfway or it would obstruct airflow. The couch had sustained some sort of damage and was being propped up by little wood pieces stacked on each other - a wobbly eyesore. One of the windows wouldn't stay up and there wasn't anything we could use to keep it open. The ironing board couldn't close after being opened.
It just seemed like the rooms, or at least just our room, had been forgotten for a while and for nearly $500/night, we expected not only that those issues wouldn't be there but that there would be other more luxurious amenities not typically found at hotels or b&bs. I guess we paid for the view.

Stayed for 2 nights in one of the Manor house rooms. While the bed linens and overall design of the room were nice, the bathroom towels were pretty basic and toiletries just average. The Inn is located outside of Stowe and was a beautiful winter setting with snow during our stay. Since we were in the Manor house we shared a hallway with other guests. Additionally there was a hall bathroom outside our room which was used by patrons coming to the on-site bar and restaurant. It wasn’t an all night long thing, but it got a little loud at times. The room itself has a gas fireplace which we didn’t use because the temp in the room was a little too warm for us to start with (we like to sleep a little cooler). The bathroom had a heated floor, but it wasn’t working the first day, but maintenance took care of it. Having the heated bathroom floor was nice getting up in the morning with temps outside in the 20’s. The room rate included breakfast each morning in the dining room, which consisted of a pastry (maple scone and cranberry muffin) and a choice from their breakfast menu. Both mornings the service was excellent (especially enjoyed talking with the waitress who was French canadian). The breakfast was good, but again maybe more focus on presentation then taste. The French toast was really tough (the bread was like a baguette, very chewy). The biscuits were super dense and overwhelmed the gravy served with them. The scone and muffin were very good. Don’t think I’d stay here again, but it was a nice setting for a December wintery get away.

Everything was really great with our stay I will start by saying the food was amazing, and they really were able to accommodate both gluten and dairy free meals very easily. I booked a king bed room and was told we’re on the main floor by the entrance on the first floor. When we arrived we were brought to a room on the second floor above the kitchen. It wasn’t the original room I booked but we were told it was the same. I noticed right away we didn’t have a king bed at all we had two twin beds pushed together. The first night was really uncomfortable since the heat form the kitchen made our room feel like a sauna we shut the heat off and opened the windows and it was still very hot. The bed was extremely uncomfortable as it was two twin beds pushed together with a huge gap in the middle. The next morning I told the front desk and they said yes that the heat in that room is known to do that and they will shut off the heat and fix that for us. She also mentioned that room is usually sold as a two twin bedroom but sometimes they push it together and sold as a king. She said that’s the only room on the property like that. She did say it was unacceptable for the team to sell me that on the phone and us be given something different when we arrived but did absolutely nothing to fix it. The second night was better with the heat but the bed issue was still a huge problem. Other than that everything else was really great I was just extremely disappointed by two nights of bad sleep since this was supposed to be a quiet getaway to get some much needed rest as parents without our kids for the weekend. Other than that everything really was above and beyond perfect so I was shocked to have this be something they didn’t handle well at all.
I would definitely stay there again if they actually gave us the king bed I booked.

My husband and I just spent the past weekend at Edson Hill to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. This was our third trip here over the past few years and we love it every time! We love the rooms, especially the fireplace, the staff is so friendly and helpful, and the breakfast each morning is delicious. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone! We look forward to going back in the future!

When you arrive you feel that you walk into someone’s private home. We passed a living room with fire roaring and entered a beautiful decorated dining area.
We began with 2 of their specialty cocktails. Rum&Rye (made with local rum) and Thyme After Thyme Too (gin, lime and thyme honey)
Fresh home baked bread was quickly served...it will be a sin not to try that. Yum.
DO: Expect to save room for desert because you have to try.
DO: Try their locally sourced cheese board
DO NOT: Rush your dinner, it is a cozy quiet and romantic restaurant.

Close enough to the town of Stowe to be convenient, but far enough to feel secluded and peaceful.
Edson Hill is a beautiful location for a Vermont getaway. Breakfast on the patio overlooking the pond below is something I could do everyday of the week and not tire of it.
The rooms are nice, bed was cozy, and there wasn't a shortage of hot water. Walls were a tad thin so I'd suggest requesting an end unit to reduce the chance of a noisy neighbor. Also, some rooms have wood fireplaces and others have gas fireplaces so if you have a preference be sure to mention that when booking your room.

Dined here first time in Jan 2019 and had to come back. We first had a pre-dinner drink at the bar downstairs, Vinny was our bartender and he made use some really good old fashioned's. The downstairs bar hols about 8 guests and room for more on the comfy chairs and tables in the rest of the basement.
We were greeted by the host who said he can transfer our bar tab to our dining bill. We were seated upstairs, the waitress was friendly and attentive.
The meal was amazing, hot, tasty and everything I expected Edson Hill to be. Book a reservation for a special night at this cozy hotel.

Our third stay at Edson Hill was just as special l as the other two...even with the Covid protocols in place. Outdoor check-in was seamless. We've stayed in the manor house and the cottages and I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite, they're all exquisitely decorated, spacious and have the most comfortable beds. The wood burning fireplaces add to the ambiance. We dined at the restaurant both nights of our stay - it's simply the best restaurant in the Stowe area. The complimentary breakfast is made to order and the selection makes it hard to choose. The staff is warm, friendly and professional. They go above and beyond to make your stay relaxing and memorable. Looking forward to planning our next visit to this Vermont gem!

Don't know. Sorry
Hello!
We have Peacock Alley's 'All Season Blankets'. They seem similar to the wonder blankets and we would be happy to have more on your bed and remove the down comforter if you would like. I'd be happy to discuss further if need be, fell free to give the Inn a call!
Best,
Erik and the Edson Hill team
We have visited the hotel multiple times with young children. The layouts of many of the rooms with daybeds or second sleeping areas make them especially attractive to families with young children, and the staff is very accommodating.
It is not Disney World or Great Wolf. The common areas, including the downstairs Tavern, the restaurant, and the living room are quiet and sophisticated. If your children are well behaved, the staff will go out of their way to make them feel at home and accommodate their needs. But, it is not an environment that will be forgiving of or pleasant for children that do not know how to behave appropriately or entertain themselves in adult settings.
"The outdoor tavern dining gets booked very quickly and is popular, book it early or you will eat indoors which is still nice but not the sam"Read full review
