Detailed Reviews
This is in such a great location on a beautiful property. We stayed for 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay. Our cabin was a bit small but very clean. This is a great place to relax and spend time outdoors. They offer kayak and canoe rentals but it was very rough on the lake while we were there. I would absolutely stay here again in the future.

Excellent location. Spotlessly clean (bleached sheets) cute cabins. Great service and very informative. Amazing location on a quiet island overlooking the lake but only a short and beautiful drive away from Burlington, upstate NY, and a lot of the amazing spots of Vermont. The property has a lot of space, a lot of separation between cabins, fireflies, areas to sit and watch the lake, fire pits, bird watching, boating, fishing, pool table, table tennis, and a lot of other games. Cold have easily spent the whole summer here. Book it before they run out of rooms!

Great cabin. David and melissa were wonderful hosts. Qiuet end of the road location but close to state parks and great food. Felt safe with spotlessly clean cabin. Next year going for a cabin with screened porch. Thanks for a truly relaxing staycation.

Had a very nice stay this week for a family fishing trip. The cabins were quite comfortable and the porch was a nice place to sit and relax after a day on the water. Dave and Melissa were great hosts, and the place had incredible views of lake Champlain. Hope to be back soon!

This was a last minute trip, and all Burlington area hotels were booked or overpriced. And then I found a gem. A cottage, in natural settings on a secluded lake front property, easy 20 minute drive from Burlington. Our cottage was one of the renovated units of Anchorage Resort on South Hero. You can choose between one and 2 bedroom units. The owner was welcoming, the property was clean and comfortable, equipped with fridge, microwave, and coffee machine. Dining is available upon prior arrangement with the owner. You don't have to be a fisherman to enjoy the space. We will return.

Thank you for the great review. Melissa and I are so happy that your family found us and enjoyed the stay. We are only 20 minutes from Burlington and guests like the fact we are secluded and on the water. We look forward to seeing you again next Fall during parents weekend.

This is our first stay and we will be back next year! We loved our cottage. Lake views, wonderful home-cooked breakfasts. The owners were absolutely "customer-first". We enjoyed the main lodge and hanging out there as well. Lots of property, Adirondack chairs to sit back and relax. A very nice public boat launch less than a mile away if you have a large boat to launch. We strongly recommend this cottage resort. We also appreciated the owner's recommendations for food and things to do. Also my husband loves to bass fish and the owner gave some superb tips to catch the best.

It's a total cliché, but pictures just don't do the Anchorage justice. I had seen photos of this cute set of cottages by the lakeside, but when my girlfriend and I arrived, it was even better than we ever imagined it would be. If you are looking for a romantic, family, or boating getaway, this is THE hidden gem of all hidden gems. Serene, peaceful, with views of the lake in two directions. Sitting in one of the brightly-colored Adirondack chairs surrounded by 100-foot tall oaks, maples and Lake Champlain, is the definition of relaxation. We even saw two deer on the front lawn.
New innkeepers Dave and Melissa Morrissette have cleaned and renovated all of the cottages as well as the main lodge. And Dave is quite the breakfast chef as well. Our Saturday morning started off with a delightful blueberry cobbler, scrumptious bacon, fresh fruit, and plenty of coffee. Sunday was an amazingly spiced French Toast and more bacon.
If you book far enough ahead of time, get a cottage with a screened-in porch. The cottages are freshly painted, very clean, and our bed was comfy. They've kept it rustic - breakfast is announced with an old-fashioned dinner bell on the roof of the main house. And the cottage's screen doors have that nice wooden "clack" when they close. The main lodge's dining room, living room, and kitchen are all spotless. There's even a game room where kids can play ping-pong or pool. I was easily able to get on wifi in the main house, our cottage, and even while sitting outdoors near the central firepit! But this is the kind of place where you will want to put your electronics away because enjoying nature is what it's all about.
Full disclosure: I've known Dave and Melissa for a long time. They treated us like royalty while we were there, but that's how they treat every guest. They go above and beyond to make sure every guest has what they need, and every room is completely clean. Over Labor Day weekend, our room was a great temperature, and Dave even gave us a fan when we asked for one. Our cottage had a mini-fridge, keeping our beer nice and cold.
While we were there, a large family of uncles and aunts, and all of their myriad kids of all ages occupied several of the cottages. We crashed the fire-pit gathering they had going one night and found out they were from our neck of the woods in Western Mass., and had been coming to this spot for decades. It's easy to see why. At the Anchorage, it's easy to make friends with guests in neighboring cottages since everyone is so relaxed - but at the same time, with individual cottages, you can have as much privacy as you want too.
Word is spreading fast about how great this adorable getaway is for those looking for a great vacation spot on South Hero island. If you have the chance to book a cottage here, do not hesitate!

After staying at The Anchorage a few times over the past two years it quickly became my favorite place in the world. From the world class fishing on Lake Champlain to the Beautiful scenery everywhere you go the Champlain Islands have it all. There is so much to do in the area such as hike, fish, eat great food, or even just sit outside your cabin and enjoy the peace and quiet. The owners, Dave and Melissa are some of the nicest people around and are very helpful and welcoming. They also offer great meals and boat rentals at an additional cost. Whether you are looking for a getaway with some friends or a family vacation I definitely recommend booking at The Anchorage.

Continued improvements by Dave and Melissa are noticeable! Game room is a great touch after a long day on the water or sightseeing. Heated cabin was a nice touch on a chilly spring evening! Low key, relaxing, exactly what’s needed!

We went up with 4 guys and spent 3 days fishing lake Champlain. What an awesome job Dave and Melissa are doing in renovation, upgrading and restoring an excellent business. The Cabins are clean, heated and they have a great dining area. If you love the outdoors this is a GREAT place to stay. Wither with buddies for some hardcore fishing of hanging out with the family! Super Place!

Thank you for staying with us during your late Fall fishing weekend. The lake didn't let you guys down. The Smallmouth bite is so good that time of year. Please think of us on your next trip to Lake Champlain.
