There is no more resplendent campus than Shelburne Farms Inn. Color changes throughout the day, along with the shimmering lake, provide an unbeatable sensory experience! The Inn staff were accommodating, the rooms breezy (despite no A/C) and the lawn furniture lured this traveler into relaxing while viewing the mountains and lake before me. Daiy packed lunches were more than worthwhile,...

We arrived in time for afternoon tea and enjoyed our sandwiches and desserts on the Adirondak chairs in the back yard area. Our room was fresh and airy in spite of the high temperatures during our visit. We had a great waiter and enjoyed the spectacular view of the lake and the mountains as we dined.

I recently visited the Inn as part of a group of board members, and felt like I'd died and gone to heaven. When you drive into the property, you enter the magical, beautiful working "elegant" farm that was built as a summer retreat by a Vanderbilt family member and has been preserved as a generous gift of the original owner's...

Traveled with my two children 13 and 15, and a friend with her 11 year old. I stayed in the Brown Room - Amazing views of the Grounds and Lake. Had own bathroom. It was located on the second floor. Staff was so helpful!! Both my girls ended up sick. Staff was so nice to make sure we had pitcher...

The scenery was beautiful, the food delicious and the tour enlightening. Unfortunately, the room cleaning was poor. On the first day, we got up late and asked the cleaning person to come back a little later. The room never got cleaned that day. On the second day, the room was partially cleaned except that the comforter was left on a...

We had the good fortune to spend 2 nights at the Inn. What a delightful experience! The mansion overlooks Lake Champlain. It is beautiful and grand but also warm and comfortable. The staff could not have been more welcoming. We felt like we were staying at the home of friends rather than at a hotel. We took a tour of...

We only stayed here for one night, but wish we had arranged our trip to enjoy more time here. The grounds are breath-taking, from the view of Lake Champlain to the vistas created by Olmsted. The house is a joy to explore. A jog around the property introduced us to some of the most amazing, historic barns you'll ever come...

I had heard for years about the beauty of this property, but was still in no way prepared for the reality. The beauty of the grounds, the buildings, and the vistas literally took my breath away. You know you are in for something special when the watchman at the gate advises you that it will be two miles to the...

My niece is interested in all things Vanderbilt and we have visited many of their mansions. So it was thrilling to be able to stay overnight here. We loved our room (Violet), it felt very grand even though it was on the 3rd floor and was probably used by the children or their nurses (the grander rooms are on the...

This secret gem is an experience that warrants mention! The staff are exceptional. The surroundings very serene and the philosophy of this property all merge to send you back in time for a restful get away. Make certain you book a meal in the restaurant as the chef's will tantalize you using local and farm items. Read their web page...
