I stayed here with my son for one night while visiting the StJohnsbury Academy Prep School. The hotel is located in the center of town only .3 miles from the Academy’s admissions office, so it was extremely convenient. I’ve stayed in a variety of accommodations from 5 Star to campgrounds and the only reason I didn’t give this 5 stars was because it is more like a motel. Upon checking in the clerk was extremely friendly and efficient, looking up places to eat for us due to it being Presidents’ Day and most of the town was closed. We received our room and were invited to breakfast the following morning which was a nice surprise given it stated there was no breakfast in the description. Our room was on the second floor, which I requested, and was large and very clean. The temperature in the room was perfect, something I rarely can say. The abundance of linens were all clean and the beds firm but comfortable. A nice feature was the addition of a sink and mirror adjacent to the full bathroom, it really made it convenient in the morning for the 2 of us to get showered and dressed. I can’t say how many times I’ve attempted to put mascara on in the mirror above the desk in hotels while other people in my family were showering. This was a great feature and allowed us to each have our own space to spread out :) the TV was situated so you could only watch from the beds and not the sofa, a slight drawback. The beds had individual lights with gooseneck attachments for reading and plenty of plus for charging our devices. We had a balcony that faced the snow covered pool and large lawn area, I even noted a couple of charcoal grills for use in the summer. A nice feature to keep costs down if you are here with your family in the summer. We slept quite comfortably and were treated to breakfast in the morning. This included a self serve, Belgian waffle maker, a variety of bread for toast, muffins, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, juice & milk. Everything was fresh and the area was very clean. Checkout was at 11am and again the clerk was friendly and efficient. If we decide to have our son attend StJohnsbury Academy I would definitely stay here again. Happy Travels ! …
We have stayed here many times as we have family in the area. We stayed two nights presidents weekend our room was never refreshed between nights. Night two we got back late and needed to leave early, there was no time to let them know before checking out. When mentioned at the desk upon check out there was no sense of apology...just an “I’ll mention it.”
We needed to stay one night in St. Johnsbury for work...this hotel was very reasonable. The room was recently updated and well equipped. We had a late check in without any hassle...the front desk agent was very helpful and friendly. We did not get a chance to take advantage of the breakfast but it looked nice...they had a pancake machine! I will try it the next time we stay. And we will stay there again. One oddity...the room did not have a closet... but we were only there one night.
Just okay room with dogs in room above us running with thundering sound all night. Inattentive staff seemed embarassed by the place. Bad coffee and breakfast snack offerings poor with unfriendly employees trying to repair broken equipment..When I mentioned the noise at check out the young woman at the desk seemed aware of the situation, but offered no apology beyond a shrug.
Don't expect any help from the young man at the front desk. He never got out of his seat to greet or check us in and was no help providing directions to rooms # in the 100's, which are on the back side of the motel and not accessible from the lobby or front of the motel. The breakfast which is included, is excellent and offers juices, cereals, pastries, eggs, waffles, etc.
