The 100+ year old hotel was in pretty good shape but not impressive. The on site dinning was available but a bit pricey. The piano playing during the dinner hours was a nice touch. The room we had was a bit tight and the water pressure in the shower was non-existent. Don't expect to be able to shower. They would not perform a refresh of the room each day as they said covid does not allow them to enter your room during your stay. We stayed at other locations in the area and they did refresh each day. My guess is they have staffing issues like so many businesses and used covid as an excuse. I would not recommend and will not be returning.
The “castle” is a historic and well maintained mansion/hotel. I was impressed with how they have maintained many of the original features. Such as the intercoms in the hallways and the wallpaper. The only down side was the size of the room we had, Room 3. Compared to the other rooms we viewed, such as 2 and 4 it was very small. As was the bathroom. Although I do recommend a stay here, I would ask about the room size Also, the staff that we interacted with were all very friendly and accommodating. The pool area is very nice, especially the hot tub.
We had dinner here in a bus tour. Excellent service and super friendly staff! Being that we were a large group, we were given two choices to choose from….Salmon or sirloin. I had the salmon. Nice size piece of fish. Came with wild rice and mixed vegetables. It was good. The sirloin came with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. Both entrees came with salad and dessert. I had the Napoleon and it was delicious. Very beautiful setting inside and out. Make sure you go around back and visit the gardens.
The good news is that we would return. The bad news is that this resort should have gotten a 4-star+ review and it gets a 3-star review. The issues generally relate to information and maintenance failures. The actual condos are quite nice as is the salt water pool. However, many of the pool railings are unstable and unsafe. One of the cement steps has a large crack. The jacuzzi was not working properly. Once it was half empty. Another time the jets were not working properly. There was little information provided for the condo. Did we have to bring our own everything or were some things provided? It turns out there was dishwasher detergent but no aluminum foil or plastic wrap. No salt and pepper either. No soup spoons were in the unit. All of the stove top components were in the dishwasher when we arrived. We had to put the stove top back together. The Adirondack chairs on the porch were ancient and poorly maintained. One arm was loose. The front steps are badly in need of staining. There was no information provided on how to use the a/c units. It seemed easy but was not because the remotes needed to be opened to first have a switch changed to allow the surface controls to function. None of these issues are a catastrophe but none of them should have existed for a resort in the price range. The maintenance man was a very nice guy and quite helpful. One of the front desk people was poorly trained and uninformed. If the failings are corrected I would recommend this resort. There is clearly a lot of maintenance related work that needs to be done.…
We stayed at the Inn from 3/1-3/5 and felt so safe and secure with covid. Lisa the manager and the staff were great. The chef is awesome and they went out of their way to make us breakfast. We really appreciated how they followed the covid guidelines to make our stay great. We were in room #9 See you soon!!!
