We spent a wonderful night here just before attending a college reunion at Dartmouth. It is a special place run by two special people, Carol and George, who truly care about their guests. The house has been in their family for 7 generations and they have made it into a cozy and comfortable place to stay. Great conversations with the... More

Stayed here a couple years ago when attending a memorial service in Quechee. Totally agree with everything the other reviewers reported. I just wanted to mention the delightful, everchanging selection of cookies baked by Carol that she places under glass-domed servers in the dining room. They are always available....if they last! I confess to consuming more than my share.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the charming Butternut Lane Bed & Breakfast in February of 2014. We were in the area to attend Winter Carnival at Dartmouth. The B&B is very convenient to Dartmouth. The home is absolutely lovely with wide-planked wood floors, authentic period antiques and charming decor. Carol and George were so hospitable... More

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at George and Carol Loveland's lovely B&B tucked along the Connecticut River in Norwich Vernont. Their B&B was a warm and welcoming place to stay on a cold and icy winter weekend while we attended a class at the (very) nearby King Arthur Flour center in Norwich. The rooms and accomodations were terrific and George... More

From the moment we arrived we felt the warm welcome from George and Carol the owners. They make you feel right at home in their home. The rooms are light and spacious. The bed was very comfortable and did I mention the incredible view of the Connecticut river. For breakfast we had a yummy soufflé with a freshly baked muffin... More

If you are looking for quiet, comfortable accommodations, great food and terrific hosts, this is the perfect place for you. Our friends stayed at the Hampton Inn, because there was no room at the Butternut; they paid more than we did. In the family since it was built in the early1800s, the Loveland's home is a historic treasure. The latches... More

This was the very first B&B that we had stayed in anywhere in the world. How lucky were we that we happened upon the friendliest couple ever running what has to be one of the best value for money B&B's in the USA. Carol and George were delightful, and the whole experience was like staying with friends rather than as... More

Based on others' reviews, we reserved a room at the Butternut Lane B&B. We can't dispute any of the accolades posted by others. George and Carol were most pleasant, gracious, and accommodating. There were many nice touches, fresh flowers in the room, cookies, snacks and beverages, etc. for our enjoyment. George offered a restaurant recommendation that was spot-on. We stayed... More

We just attended a friend's wedding in the White River Junction area of VT and rather than staying in one of the area hotels, we opted for a B&B. Although not as close to the event as other places, Butternut Lane was the perfect choice. Everything other reviewers have stated is accurate. The hosts, Carol and George, are delightful, friendly... This farmhouse was built in 1820 and has remained in the same family for its entire life. It has a large front lawn leading down to an infrequently use road and railway on the bans of the Connecticut River. We had a large room on the main floor The doors windows and floor boards are all original although there has... More
