A great find on the Connecticut River with lovely views. Rooms are immaculate, cozy & comfortable as are the downstairs sitting rooms, but Carol's breakfasts were delicious, elegantly served and worth a trip in itself. Very convenient to Dartmouth activity or classes at King Arthur. We look forward to a return visit.

It is difficult to add anything new to the many positive reviews, especially from those who have critiqued many such places. It is indeed historic, authentic, immaculate, non-pretentious, friendly and the very essence of Vermont. It is also less expensive as a rule that the chain hotels a few miles away in White River Junction. We stayed in September for...

The B&B is across the road from the Connecticut River where we watched the Dartmouth Sculling teams practice. George and Carol were gracious hosts and happy to talk about their home. It was built in 1821 and looks like places I'd only seen in books. We stayed in the Loveland Suite on the first floor. The room looked over fields...

We stayed with Carol and George two years ago and vowed we would return. They are the very best hosts. Carol sets a beautiful table with flowers (in October) and a two course breakfast. Recently we had several college students visit our home in Austin, TX. One of them was majoring in Hospitality. We mentioned that we were staying at...

Quiet, comfortable and historic without the precious pretension of some B & Bs. Hosts Carol and George were very welcoming---- Fresh baked cookies greet you and Carol makes the most amazing breakfasts. Guests have full access to the beautiful downstairs living rooms for reading or TV.

We stayed at Butternut Lane on our way to hiking the White Mountains. Reserving a room was easy and the hosts were really welcoming. The room was clean and very comfy and breakfast was excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay near Hanover.

Carol and George are wonderful folks, and take great care of us every time we visit. Carol is an excellent chef and we are always looking forward to her breakfast in the morning. The rooms are quaint, clean, and with a lot of attention to detail. The property is peaceful and only a few minutes from town, but rural enough...

In four years of visiting our daughter at Dartmouth, we have tried nearly every lodging in the area. This three-room bed and breakfast is the nicest and best-priced, and we wish we had discovered it sooner. It is a lovingly and tastefully maintained and updated early-19th century house, Federal-style, which has been in the innkeepers' family from the start. Those...

I stayed here while on book tour (Sept 2012 - just getting around to the review!). Carol and George could not have been more gracious. They let me use their kitchen to prep vegetables for my signings and they introduced me to the local farmer on their property. I loved the room so much I never wanted to leave!

My son and I stayed for 2 nights at the Butternut Lane Bed and Breakfast while visiting my other son at Dartmouth. It is truly a hidden jewel. Carol and George run a beautiful home with an interesting history that they have beautifully preserved. The rooms are large, clean and comfy. Coming home to fresh baked cookies each evening was...
