My husband and I had the best two night stay at the inn recently. The room was comfortable with a fantastic bath and double sided fireplace. Breakfast, dinner and drinks from the restaurant on property did not disappoint either. The staff was incredibly helpful when we had to cancel our original stay due to illness in the family and we are so glad we could reschedule. Definitely would come back for a visit maybe in the summer. Only bummer of the stay was that the hiking trail out the back door was “closed because of logging”. Just looked like no bridge to the trail to be honest. Thanks for a great stay overall!
Wow! In need of a a little getaway during these crazy days of Covid-19, we decided to stay in Vermont, our home state. We looked all over the map and ended up 15 min away from our home in Brattleboro, at the beautiful Four Columns Inn. Five nights there and we could not have been happier. We felt safe and saw that all precautions were taken to ensure the safety of their hotel and dining guests. Our room was spacious, clean and we loved the welcome amenities of hand sanitizers and bottled water. The property is spacious, you can hike up the trails and be away from civilization. We enjoyed three amazing dinners outdoors in the lovely garden. Even in the rain, it was cozy and just so romantic, sitting under the trees by the pond and enjoying Chef Ralph's cuisine and a good bottle of Austrian Grüner Veltliner or a French Syrah from the Northern Rhone. We felt safe and could not have been happier spending our vacation with each other at the Four Columns Inn, in our lovely Vermont. STAYCATION. Support your local businesses!…
The Four Columns Inn is truly an exceptional product. The rooms and public spaces are charming and the food is incredible; however my experience unfortunately was not without incident. Issue #1: I booked a King bedded room, and was downgraded. Rate was not updated to reflect the difference in price. Issue #2: I prepaid my stay, however due to their overbooking, they cancelled my reservation that was made through Expedia and made a new one, without communicating this to me. As such I had to pay twice for my stay. They did refund my card, but there was difficulty at check out getting confirmation that the initial reservation was indeed refunded. Issue #3: As someone who works in the industry, I was most disappointed by the lack empathy and compassion for the issues that I experienced. An apology was never offered, and when I inquired about checking in early, They informed me I would have to pay a half days rate. I think that this was a missed opportunity to recover the issues created by their team. I will note that they provided a small credit for the Tavern, but we were unable to redeem due to it closing at 8pm. We were unable to redeem at breakfast either and instead of removing the extra pancakes from the bill that we ordered, we were charged (the pancakes were $9)! The entire experience left me feeling like the only thing that mattered to them was securing payment for a mistake that they made and not about my experience as a guest. I have stayed here multiple times, however think that this may be my last time. I would like to recognize the amazing hospitality provided by our server at breakfast on Saturday morning. I can’t remember her name but she had blonde hair. Such a warm and inviting individual. It’s a shame that her approach to service is not shared collectively by their team.…
We chose Four Columns because you could pick the exact room you wanted. They had pictures of the features of each room. We picked a first floor room with a dual sided gas fireplace that faced both the bedroom and jacuzzi room. It was magical! There were a few minor things wrong, but nothing that would stop us from coming back. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. The food was good, but not great. On our last night, we went to the tavern for our free beer and we also ordered a dessert. Both things were awesome. They also had a jazz guitar player performing Christmas songs. Overall, a magical experience. Highly recommended.
My husband and I stayed for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary. The inn is beautiful in an unfussy style and well maintained (newly redone maybe?). Highlights of our stay included the friendly, helpful staff and the exceptional massages by Tracy in the peaceful spa building. We stayed in Room 11, which has a comfortable king bed, fireplace, small deck, and jetted tub. Very nice with just a couple of small drawbacks - if you’re a light sleeper, be aware you can hear conversation at night from the tavern area downstairs. Also, the tub is more for soaking, with just gentle jets. Rain kept us from exploring the trails, and the restaurant is temporarily closed due Covid. But those are good reasons to return to this charming and well-run inn!
It has been 2 years since the last time my wife and I had been there. I didn't think it was possible, but our stay was better than the last. The Inn is on beautiful property. Our room was very clean and extremely comfortable.. The Chef, Andrew has done and amazing job with the menu. The food, especially breakfast, was delicious. Spencer, the manager, always had a a smile and was always asking if we were good or if we need anything take our stay better. Mariya who was at the front desk was extremely helpful and always had a kind word. Dorien, the bartender at the tavern was so attentive and pleasant. Make sure your try the Frosty North if your there, you won't regret it. My wife scheduled a massage while we were there. She said it was the best massage she has had ever! Thank you Tracey. There were many more that made our stay so memorable, Lorena, Emma, Emma, Mr. Bob and George! I know that I'm missing people. I just want to say thank you to the whole Four Columns staff for a great weekend! We will be back again…
We have stayed at the four Columns Inn multiple times, staring over 35 years ago. It does not disappoint. The property is attractive, well maintained, and the included breakfast is tasty and filling. They are just beginning to expand their dinner menu, and the dishes we ordered were excellent. Would certainly return.
Very comfortable room and wonderful breakfast. Set in a picturesque village in Southern Vermont. Dining room was short staffed, but the one waitstaff was sweet and attentive. Lorina at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. Lovely, lovely inn.
Beautiful room. Amazing bathroom. Fabulous breakfast. Exquisite grounds. Tavern offerings were perfect for a late day snack. Friendly service. Lots to do to keep busy in the area. Highly recommend for either a couples or friends getaway.
This trip in August was our 3rd time staying at the Four Columns. We love the ambiance of the Inn and the staff (esp. Spencer & Mariah) are wonderful. Plus, they welcome dogs! Our dog, Mimi loves it there, too.
